Judge DS Deshmukh also ordered the convict, Anwar Babu Sheikh, to pay Rs 10,000 in fines, which will be awarded to the survivor as compensation. The court's decision came after the prosecution successfully proved all charges under the POCSO Act and Indian Penal Code.
Prosecutor Sandhya Mhatre presented evidence showing that the April 2022 incident occurred when the child was playing near her home. The accused, a neighbour, enticed the child into his residence where the assault took place.
The case came to light when the child disclosed the incident to her mother, prompting an immediate police complaint. The prosecution's case was strengthened by the child's testimony, medical evidence, and witness accounts.
The trial featured testimony from ten prosecution witnesses, including the young survivor. A crucial witness, a neighbour, confirmed seeing the child enter and exit the accused's home, supporting the survivor's account.
Constable Sushant Shelar provided consistent support to the prosecution throughout the legal proceedings.
In delivering the verdict, Judge Deshmukh noted that the prosecution established guilt beyond reasonable doubt, justifying the conviction and substantial punishment under POCSO provisions.
The judge pointed to the importance of the survivor's courageous testimony and the corroborating medical reports in securing this conviction. Judge Deshmukh referred the case to the District Legal Services Authority for additional compensation consideration.

High spirits, low profile: Nalanda liquor smugglers who dressed down to cash in
Patna: Pankaj and Kanchan, two young men from Nalanda district, led double lives – humble by appearance, but extravagant in lifestyle. By day, they posed as junk collectors and by night, they were liquor barons, ferrying sacks of foreign booze and beer from Uttar Pradesh to dry Bihar, fuelling a thriving black-market empire. The duo's clever disguise – tattered clothes and frayed slippers – fooled many. Few in their hometown knew the secret behind their sudden rise – plush homes, premium bikes and a carefree swagger funded by illicit liquor sales. But their charade unravelled on Sunday when the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Gaya Junction caught them red-handed. "The operation took place at Platform No. 1 of Gaya Junction," said Gaya GRP station SHO Rajesh Kumar. "RPF personnel, who had been maintaining vigilant surveillance of suspicious activities, spotted two people disembarking from a train with suspicious bags. Upon noticing the police presence, the suspects attempted to flee but were quickly arrested by the alert RPF team," he added. Inside the bags – 48 cans of beer and 120 bottles of premium foreign liquor worth around Rs 23,000. During interrogation, the pair admitted to long-running smuggling operations, transporting liquor via train to Gaya, and then on to Nalanda, where they sold it at up to three times the cost. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like I Tried the $0.87 Generic Viagra and Here's What Happened! fridayplans Learn More Undo "The arrested accused wore very simple clothes to represent themselves as being from a poor background," the SHO added.
