Bihar: YouTuber Manish Kashyap joins Jan Suraaj

Hans India07-07-2025
The Jan Suraaj Party, launched by Prashant Kishor for system change in Bihar, received fresh momentum on Monday, with popular YouTuber Manish Kashyap formally joining the party.
Kashyap, known for raising public issues through social media, described his decision as a step toward 'becoming the answer' for real change in Bihar.
Welcoming Kashyap in Patna, Jan Suraaj architect Prashant Kishor said, 'Manish Kashyap is not just a leader or YouTuber; he wants to play his role in bringing system change in Bihar. He has always stood with those who have been wronged in the state. His aim is to contribute to society, not to exploit it. His joining indicates that the talk of honesty in politics and system change is now having an impact on the ground.'
Kashyap said, 'To bring real change in Bihar, it is not enough to only ask questions; one must become the answer. With this thought, I am joining Jan Suraaj.'
He added, 'Prashant Kishor has taken the initiative to look at society beyond the prism of caste and religion and has spread the message of system change. I want to dedicate myself to public service by joining him.'
Prashant Kishor, addressing supporters, added, 'We should become the voice of all YouTubers and the youth of Bihar. Manish Kashyap and I have not come here to contest elections. Manish is a young man who has created his identity through his talent; his father is not an MLA or minister. He will play a big role in the fight for system change. He is not joining a party but a family.'
'This is the party of every Bihari who dreams of a developed Bihar. Jan Suraaj aims to free Bihar from the jungle raj of Lalu-Nitish. For us, politics is not just about contesting elections; it is about transformation. Manish Kashyap's identity was created by his talent, not by the BJP,' Kishor said while congratulating Kashyap on joining Jan Suraaj.

Gen Next netas are leading Bihar assembly contests, but it's still all caste and faith Nitish Kumar rarely looks wobbly. Even when his govt shifts from one alliance to the other. He is rarely a failed engine in image or perception. But ahead of 2025 assembly election, Bihar's CM may find himself as shaky as some of his state's bridges turn out to be. For all the supposed faith in 'sushasan babu', fact is his biggest competition is emerging within his own alliance. NDA ally, who calls himself Modi's 'hanuman', the man who played spoiler for JDU in 2020 state polls, Dalit Union minister Chirag Paswan wants to be NDA's CM-face. And he's making no bones about it. Chirag's confidence in moving from Parliament to Patna, with plans to contest on all 243 assembly seats, is driven by the fact that LJP in 2020 likely hurt NDA in 59 seats, where it relegated JDU and allies to third slot. Chirag's rise from the dust of factionalism after his father Ram Vilas Paswan's death in 2021 is in no small measure due to Modi keeping an eye out for him. It may be very early days yet. But Bihar lives election to election, with intervening five years committed to a cycle of falling bridges, poverty chatter, migration, and MosPI surveys. When it's poll-time, it's back to stirring the caste cauldron. It's the first election after the deaths of BJP face Sushil Modi and LJP's Ram Vilas Paswan. Nitish's health is not what it used to be, and Lalu has handed over the reins to his son – Tejashwi, who leads opposition INDIA camp. Count in also Jitan Ram Manjhi's son. Short shrift was made of Nitish's attempts to induct his son into politics – JDU's future would seem uncertain. NDA made Nitish CM in 2020, but by far BJP is the bigger partner. In 2020 state polls, NDA won 125 seats (BJP 74, JDU 43), then UPA 110 (RJD 75, Cong 19). In Lok Sabha 2024, BJP won 12 of Bihar's 40 seats with vote share 21%, JDU 12 seats with 19%, and Chirag's LJP(RV) all 5 seats it contested with a 7% vote share. Opposition RJD won 4 seats with 22%. The assembly election in a way is a handover to Gen Next who'll be contesting against the backdrop of the 2022 caste survey, an upcoming caste census, and 'illegal immigrants' which is a poll issue for the first time in Bihar. Collapsing bridges, crippled health infra, migration and poverty – all that's for the surveyors, not elections. Didi's rally today over B'desh tag on Bengalis

1 2 Kolkata: Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee will hit the streets on Wednesday against the profiling of Bengali-speaking persons as Bangladeshis in BJP-governed states. The spate of arrests and detentions of Bengali-speaking migrants in Odisha, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Haryana and Delhi — some of which are under the glare of Calcutta High Court — has prompted TMC to rekindle the "Bengali identity and pride" issue that had derailed BJP's strong Hindutva campaign in the 2021 assembly polls. With months to go for the 2026 assembly polls, what began as isolated complaints of harassment of migrant workers has now evolved into a full-blown political flashpoint. You Can Also Check: Kolkata AQI | Weather in Kolkata | Bank Holidays in Kolkata | Public Holidays in Kolkata TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said: "This has become dangerous terrain. We are noticing with concern that despite our repeated protests, BJP-governed states are arresting and detaining Bengali-speaking Indian citizens as suspected Bangladeshis. Bengalis stay in West Bengal and across India. They are Indian citizens. This is a despicable conspiracy against Bengal that anyone who speaks Bengali is being branded a foreigner in his own country. And this is only being done by BJP-governed states." Asked by reporters if TMC was upping the ante with an eye on the 2026 polls, Ghosh said: "Yes, there will be polls in 2026. But this is not just a political rally, it is about our Indianness, our language and our identity." TMC spokesperson Samir Chakraborty said this was only about BJP targeting Bengal. "Why is this linguistic profiling limited to Bengali-speaking poor people? Tamil is spoken in India and Sri Lanka. Nepali is spoken in India and Nepal. Punjabi is also spoken on both sides of the (India-Pakistan) border. Why are only Bengalis being labelled as foreigners in their own country? Or is this part of a larger design? Is this about BJP bringing NRC through a circuitous route in Bengal?" he said. An estimated 22.5 lakh migrant labourers from Bengal work across construction, brick kilns, factories and informal sectors across the country. "There are over 1.5 crore migrant workers in Bengal who live with dignity. But the same cannot be said for BJP-ruled states, where Bengalis are being treated as infiltrators in their own country. Speaking Bengali does not make one Bangladeshi," said TMC MP Samirul Islam, who also heads the state migrant workers' welfare board. "Harassment of Bengali workers is proof that this is part of a pattern of hatred towards Bengali-speaking people. Do these migrant labourers now need separate visas to visit BJP-governed states?" he asked. Meanwhile, in Delhi, Trinamool concluded its 24-hour dharna at Jai Hind Camp on Tuesday over the inhuman living conditions faced by locals. Speaking at the conclusion of the sit-in protest, TMC's RS deputy leader Sagarika Ghose said being Bengali-speakers was the residents' only crime. "Electricity has been disconnected, there is a water problem, roads are full of slush and houses are getting flooded during rains. This is the kind of sub-human condition that these citizens are being forced to live in," Ghose said.
