Heavy Rains Lash Several Parts Of Delhi-NCR, IMD Predicts More Showers
Delhi woke up to incessant rains on Thursday and several parts of the city are already experiencing waterlogging and slow traffic. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall in the National capital on July 31. According to the IMD, thunderstorms/lightning with moderate rain is very likely over several parts of Delhi NCR.
According to the latest IMD weather forecast, light rainfall is expected during the next two hours in Delhi NCR. 'Light to moderate rainfall accompanied with light thunderstorm and lightning is very likely to occur at NCR Bahadurgarh, Manesar) Light rainfall is very likely to occur at entire Delhi, NCR ( Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ballabhgarh) and Very Light rainfall/drizzle is very likely to occur over entire Delhi during next 2 hours," IMD weather prediction reads.

Delhi is experiencing rainfall since Wednesday, leading to waterlogging in several areas. Key areas including Connaught Place, ITO, Pragati Maidan, GTK Depot, and others were waterlogged.
The situation has sparked off a political sparring over BJP-led Delhi government's monsoon preparedness. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders shared videos of waterlogged locations.
Sharing a clip of severely waterlogged roads of Connaught Place, AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal took to 'X' and wrote, 'When this is the condition of Connaught Place, the heart of Delhi, it's not hard to imagine the state of the rest of Delhi. Just 10 minutes of rain and the roads have turned into ponds. In 5 months, where has the BJP brought Delhi to? Is this the speed of the 'four-engine' government?"
However, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta inspected the waterlogged locations on Tuesday and instructed officials to ensure proper arrangements for water drainage.
'Today, a surprise inspection of the waterlogging situation was conducted in ITO. Interacted with local people to gather information about the actual situation. Clear instructions have been given to officials to ensure proper arrangements for prompt water drainage during heavy rainfall," CM Gupta posted on X.
