Nick Kyrgios openly declared his fondness for Anne Hathaway, leading to a hysterical reaction from fellow Wimbledon commentator Dan Evans as he made a bold invitation to the actress.
During the men's singles final at SW19 on Sunday, Kyrgios was on punditry duties alongside the former British tennis ace and CoCo Vandeweghe for TNT Sport.
The commentators were observing the celebrity guests in Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz's boxes when Kyrgios was asked about his personal preferences for tournament spectators.
The 30-year-old pointed out various celebrity attendees at Wimbledon, including record producer and singer Seal, before revealing that he's had "a couple of NBA guys" requesting an invite to his box. However, he went on to voice a special wish, as he said: "I mean I would love to have Anne Hathaway one day. She's my celebrity crush, just thought I'd put that one in there."

Evans and Vandeweghe couldn't help but laugh as Kyrgios candidly expressed his admiration for the American actress. An amused Evans added: "She might be watching!" Grinning, Kyrgios replied: "I mean Anne, US Open, come on down. She's ageing like a fine wine, isn't she?"

Kyrgios has not been shy in the past about his affection for the Academy Award-winning actress. In 2022, he revealed his attraction to the "sexy" star of 'The Devil Wears Prada' while on the Tennis Channel's Confessional Cart.
He said: "I f*** with Anne Hathaway a bit. Anne Hathaway, I think she's sexy. I think, um, Catwoman. You know, she's Catwoman. If you haven't seen The Intern, you should watch The Intern. She's sexy there, too."
Kyrgios may well believe that romance is still on the cards for him and Hathaway, following his split from long-term girlfriend Costeen Hatzi earlier in 2025.

The former couple had been an item since 2021 when the social media influencer initially sold Kyrgios a mirror, but the tennis star recently opened up about their parting during a candid Instagram live Q&A session.
Addressing whether any animosity existed between them, Kyrgios said: "Things happen. I wish her nothing but the best. There have been so many incredible moments that will stay with me."

Hatzi reciprocated the sentiment, as she told The Advertiser: "We haven't spoken. I hope he finds peace and happiness within himself. I definitely went into the relationship with pure intentions."

Dad hits out at daughter's school for reaction to her outfit for 'culture day'
"I wanted an answer as to why they thought this was acceptable - and nobody could give me a straight answer, I wanted to know how they had justified it." A dad has criticised his daughter's school after she was removed from lessons for wearing a Union Jack dress to celebrate being British at an organised culture day. Courtney Wright, 12, wore the dress similar to the one worn by the Spice Girls' Geri Halliwell, and wrote an accompanying piece about history and traditions as part of the themed day at Bilton School in Rugby, Warwickshire, on Friday, July 11. Her dad Stuart Field then received a call telling him to pick his daughter up. He later arrived at the school to find she had been kept in isolation all morning. The 47-year-old said: "Courtney was so embarrassed and couldn't understand what she'd done wrong. She should not be made to feel embarrassed about being British. She shouldn't be punished for celebrating being British - nobody else I've spoken to can quite get their heads around it." The school has since apologised over the incident, stating it "could have been handled better" and will learn from the experience, the Mirror reports. Stuart added: "Somebody at the school has politicised a Union Jack dress even though that was clearly not Courtney's intent. Courtney didn't do anything to be political. It's about being British, the Spice Girls and even the freedom at being able to wear a dress. This is just what being British means to her." An information letter sent home regarding the celebrations said the culture day was "designed to promote inclusion, understanding, and appreciation of different backgrounds, traditions and heritages". However, Stuart said the way the school approached things on the day went against what was said in the letter, and pupils holding St George's and Welsh flags were also reprimanded. He continued: "It's the school who have made it political and it went against everything the event was being held for. She chose the dress and wrote the piece off her own back. They day was to celebrate everyone's cultures and Courtney chose this Union Flag dress so she could celebrate hers. "She also wrote this speech to go with it and was very proud of what she'd done. The next thing I get a call at work at around 9am to say she's not allowed in school dressed like that and that it was unacceptable. "I wasn't able to get away from work until about midday. They made her sit in reception all morning in front of the receptionists and kept her in isolation. "She's a straight A student, one of the brightest in her year and she's never been in trouble before so she was really upset. All the kids there are British in my eyes, I like to think I'm a tolerant person but this was just not right. "I wanted an answer as to why they thought this was acceptable - and nobody could give me a straight answer, I wanted to know how they had justified it. "I spoke to her head of year, and he said he wasn't the best person to talk to about it, so I can only assume he didn't really agree with it either. It was just like British culture could not be celebrated. "The school backtracked and eventually apologised, I think once the school governors became involved. But the damage had already been done, Courtney should not be have been made to feel that way. "I put a post on Facebook and I've had messages of support from all over the world really, from Poland to Australia. Everybody is saying how ridiculous it is that any young person cannot celebrate where they are from." The school got in touch with Stuart over the weekend and have since issued an apology. A spokesperson for Stowe Valley Trust said: "At Bilton School, we are proud of the diversity of our students and the rich heritage they bring to our community. We are committed to fostering an environment where every pupil feels respected, valued, and included. "On Friday 11th July, an incident occurred during our Culture Celebration Day that caused considerable upset to one of our pupils, her family, and members of the wider community. "We deeply regret the distress this has caused and offer our sincere and unreserved apologies. We have since spoken directly with the pupil and her family to listen to their concerns and reflect on how this could have been handled better. "We are committed to learning from this experience and ensuring that every student feels recognised and supported when expressing pride in their heritage. "As a school, we are reviewing our policies and strengthening staff training to ensure our practices reflect our values of inclusion, respect, and understanding for all."

WRU told to act fast Former Wales international Chris Horsman has told the WRU to act swiftly and show "strong leadership" after the governing body announced it could possibly cut two professional teams. On Monday the WRU released a statement saying they were considering a "radical" strategy to change the game in Wales, with a period of consultation with the pro clubs about to be entered into. Horsman, who played for the disbanded Celtic Warriors, says decisive action is now required. "What the game needs more than anything at the moment is stability," said Horsman, who was capped 14 times for Wales, to the BBC. Article continues below "For me, if they're [the WRU] going to make the cut they've got to just come forward they've got to give us some strong leadership." Initially the WRU said it wanted to retain all four professional teams and were adamant it had the required funding to make all successful, but they have changed their stance. "Potentially they have got a year left of their contract," Horsman added. "They [the regions] want financial stability. Are you going to buy a season ticket? "I know it's not going to be straightforward but we've heard that things were going to happen 18 months ago and they haven't, so I don't put a lot of stock in it's going to happen fast. "One thing I will say is when we were at the Celtic Warriors, it happened over a weekend, pretty much, and as painful as it was at least it was done and then there was a decision made that the players were divvied up, pretty equally between the four regions and the game moved on quickly. "I think that's what's needed now." Welsh players were 'considered' for Lions call-ups British and Irish Lions assistant John Dalziel says that Welsh players were considered for the various call-ups made by the tourists in recent days. Andy Farrell has called Jamie Osbourne, Jamie George, Thomas Clarkson, Darcy Graham, Rory Sutherland and Ewan Ashman in to the squad to offer cover - with the size of the squad going up from 38 to 44. No Welshmen have been called up - with Jac Morgan remaining the sole Wales player in the squad. "They were considered like everything," said Dalziel when asked if any Welsh players were in the mix. "The process of the last few days hasn't been in the here and now. "It's been for a long period of time. We've had a big list. When you're selecting the squad, there's so many quality players that if you ask anyone else, you'd have a different group of players. "There's so many good players. Unfortunately, top-quality players have been left out the selection. "They've gone and performed with their countries. As needs must, they're getting opportunities - some a bit later." With hookers and looseheads called up, there could have been an opportunity for Dewi Lake or Nicky Smith to get a call-up. Smith ended the tour of Japan with an injury - travelling back with his foot in a boot. As for Lake, the Lions opted for different hookers in George and Ashman. 'There's nothing really external that we considered or talked about," added Dalziel. 'Look at Jamie George, he had two 14-hour flights to get here. It's not an easy choice to get him in. 'We looked at it properly, it was a process with Jamie being part of the set-up at the start.
