Giving a demonstration with a plate of delectable sabudana vadas, Rujuta offered a simple yet mindful method to guide your portion size. The idea is to begin with just one piece. Then, ask yourself whether you are genuinely ready to eat a second. But here's the catch—only go for the second if you are absolutely sure you can comfortably consume a third afterward. If not, it's best to stop at one. This method helps in preventing overeating by pausing to assess your appetite and being aware of your limits.
The same principle applies even when you've already eaten a few pieces. Say you've had three—now, before reaching for a fourth, ask yourself if you'd still have the appetite to eat a fifth. If your body hesitates at the idea of a fifth, it's a signal to stop at three. This practice allows you to enjoy your food without guilt while also ensuring that you don't push yourself into a state of discomfort or sluggishness by overeating.
This practical and intuitive approach, sometimes referred to as the 'Jordan formula,' offers a balanced and thoughtful way to manage indulgence. It emphasizes stopping just before reaching full capacity, helping you remain aware, satisfied, and in control of your eating habits. Instead of labeling food as good or bad or denying yourself treats altogether, it encourages measured enjoyment—one that keeps both physical health and mental satisfaction in mind.
Another important factor in appetite and digestion is the weather. Seasonal changes can have a noticeable effect on how hungry we feel. During times of intense heat or cold, appetite often reduces naturally. In hotter months, in particular, the digestive system tends to be more sensitive or sluggish. That's why it becomes even more important to include fibre-rich foods in your diet during summer. These help support smooth digestion, prevent bloating, and keep your gut functioning efficiently despite the seasonal shift.
By tuning in to your internal cues and aligning your habits with natural changes in the environment, you can maintain a healthy and satisfying relationship with food—all while enjoying your favorite dishes in moderation.

Managing blood sugar levels naturally is essential for overall health, and incorporating simple drinks and foods can make a big difference. Remedies like apple cider vinegar drink, green tea, black coffee, and vegetable smoothies are known to improve insulin sensitivity and help regulate glucose levels. Additionally, cinnamon tea, lemon water, aloe vera juice, and fenugreek water provide antioxidant benefits and support insulin function. Staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water also aids in flushing out excess glucose. These natural options offer effective ways to maintain balanced blood sugar, and support metabolic wellness for better long-term results. Morning drinks that help lower blood sugar: Apple cider vinegar, green tea, and more 1. Apple cider vinegar drink Apple cider vinegar has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity and lower blood sugar responses after meals. Mixing one to two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in water can help manage blood sugar levels. Consume it before meals or at bedtime for optimal effect, but always dilute it to prevent harming tooth enamel and the digestive tract. 2. Black coffee Black coffee, without additives, can improve insulin sensitivity and boost metabolism. However, be mindful of timing, as too much caffeine on an empty stomach can spike cortisol, leading to unintended sugar crashes later. Balance is key. 4. Vegetable smoothies Vegetable smoothies made with leafy greens like spinach or kale, low-sugar fruits, and protein sources like Greek yogurt or nut butter can help regulate blood sugar levels. These ingredients provide essential nutrients, fiber, and protein to support overall health. 5. Cinnamon tea Cinnamon contains compounds that mimic insulin's effects, helping to lower blood sugar levels naturally. Boil a cinnamon stick in water for 10 minutes or use cinnamon powder in a tea infuser. Drinking cinnamon tea before meals can help regulate glucose levels. 6. Lemon water Rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, lemon water can help improve insulin sensitivity and reduce blood sugar levels. Squeeze half a lemon into warm or cold water and drink it multiple times a day for hydration and glucose control benefits. 7. Aloe vera juice Aloe vera juice can help stabilize blood sugar levels by promoting pancreatic health and improving insulin release. Drink 30-50 ml of aloe vera juice diluted in water, avoiding commercial drinks with added sugar. 8. Fenugreek water Soaking fenugreek seeds in water overnight and drinking the water in the morning can help regulate glucose metabolism and improve insulin function. Fenugreek seeds are rich in soluble fiber, which slows down sugar absorption and improves insulin sensitivity. 9. Water Staying hydrated is crucial for blood sugar control. Drinking water helps your kidneys flush out excess glucose from the bloodstream, reducing the risk of high blood sugar levels. Aim to drink at least two glasses of water soon after waking up. 4 Skin Changes That Could Indicate Liver Disease: Top Liver Specialist Reveals

A healthy liver is crucial for your overall health and well-being. The liver primarily filters toxins from the blood, produces bile juice for digestion, stores essential vitamins and minerals and metabolises nutrients. However, the liver is vulnerable to several diseases and severe damage. Factors like unhealthy diet, sedentary lifestyle, excess alcohol consumption and certain genetic conditions increase the risk of liver disease, such as fatty liver and even cirrhosis. Therefore, it is crucial to identify the signs and symptoms of an unhealthy liver as early as possible. Timely diagnoses and medical assistance can help manage and prevent the onset of serious liver conditions like hepatitis, cirrhosis, and liver cancer. Fatigue, abdominal swelling, changes in urine, nausea, and vomiting are a few symptoms of fatty liver disease. A few subtle signs of a fatty liver are visible on your skin. Dr. Saurabh Sethi, a liver specialist and gastroenterologist trained at AIIMS and Harvard, shared a few subtle signs and symptoms of liver disease visible on the skin. 4 skin changes that could indicate liver disease 1. Yellowing of the skin Jaundice or yellowing of the skin and eyes due to elevated bilirubin levels in the bloodstream is one of the earliest symptoms of liver problems. "This is a classic sign of liver disease as the liver is responsible for processing bilirubin," Dr. Sethis said in an Instagram video. 2. Spider angiomas "Small dilated blood vessels that resemble spider webs are typically on the face, neck or chest. These are caused by increased estrogen levels, which can occur in liver disease," he said. 3. Palmar erythema Palmar erythema refers to redness and inflammation of the palms, often accompanied by swelling. "This is due to increased blood flow and increased estrogen levels, which can be a sign of liver dysfunction," the expert explained. 4. Itching Itching without a clear cause, which often worsens at night, is often associated with liver problems. "This can be due to bile salts building up in the skin, which can occur in liver problems," Dr. Sethis said. Taking proactive steps can help ensure your liver remains healthy and functions efficiently. Eat a healthy diet, limit alcohol consumption, stay physically active, avoid exposure to toxins, drink enough water and get regular checkups to reduce the risk of liver diseases.
