Netflix confirms next three seasons of Bridgerton but there is a huge catch that's devastated fans
Netflix has confirmed a Bridgerton season five and season six as fans have been left delighted by the news as they eagerly await the release of the fourth season which is set to premiere in 2026. The official announcement on Instagram reads: "Dearest gentle reader, rarely is this author granted the opportunity to share with you such information.
"It it with greatest pleasure I can announce Bridgerton shall return for seasons 5 and 6. Do celebrate accordingly. And in the meantime do prepare yourselves, for Bridgerton 4 shall debut in 2026.
"It would seem this author is going to be quite busy. Yours truly, Lady Whistledown." However, there is a lengthy catch to this announcement due to how far ahead in the future it is.
With still over half a year to wait until the fourth season airs, and a two-year gap between each season so far, fans could be waiting as long as 2030 for the sixth season to come out.
Netflix confirmed the Shonda Rhimes production will adapt a further two more love stories from Julia Quinn's bestselling book series. There are still four more Bridgerton siblings to find love including Eloise Bridgerton, played by Claudia Jessie, Francesca, portrayed by Hannah Dodd, Gregory, played by Will Tilston and Hyacinth, portrayed by Florence Hunt.
Viewers were previously introduced to Eloise's love interest in the first season, Sir Philip Crane, played by Chris Fulton.
The exciting scenes at the end of season three saw Penelope aka Lady Whistledown, played by Nicola Coughlan and Colin, played by Luke Newton tie the knot.
Fans were also shown Francesca's future wife, the gender-swapped Micheala Stirling played by Masali Baduza.
Meanwhile, season four is set to trace the rags-to-riches romance between Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thomspon, and Sophie Baek, played by Yerin Ha.
A TV Insider told The Sun: 'After introducing the controversial gender swap at the end of series three which saw Michael Stirling switched to Michaela, there is a chance execs could skip ahead to Francesca's story.
'They certainly weren't afraid to dabble with Julia Quinn's timeline by swapping the order of Colin and Benedict's tales.'
While fans are buzzing about the renewal, they also have a few complaints about the lengthy wait.
Taking to X to vent their frustration, one wrote: "Season 4 better be premiering on January 1st, 2026."
Another agreed: "Why do we have to wait so long."
A third added: "I like how they just keep renewing it like two season at a time but take like fifty years to film, we're never getting season 8."
Someone else complained: "2026… are you kidding me."
While another fan echoed: "Why are we waiting until 2026?'"
After seeing the latest news about the fifth and sixth season, a sixth declared: "[The first look] plus the renewal of s5 & s6, I am going to be INSUFFERABLE for the next 6-10 years".

Meghan Markle sends Khloe Kardashian huge gift as Prince Harry struggles in row
Meghan Markle has been sharing her new As Ever products, as well as some unusual homegrown items, with her celebrity friends as she sent a hefty basket of goodies to the Kardashians Meghan Markle has been flexing her links to the Los Angeles elite as she sent Khloe Kardashian a stacked gift basket of As Ever goodies. The Duchess of Sussex loaded up the rustic basket with two bottles of her new vintage rosé wine, her organic orange blossom honey, and a selection of fresh produce, presumably from Meghan's garden at her Montecito home. The basket was stocked full of tomatoes, snow peas, squashes, corn, lettuce and a bouquet of fresh flowers. Khloe shared a snap of the unusual PR gift to her Instagram story, which both Meghan and the As Ever accounts reposted. It comes after Meghan Markle's birthday 'gimmick' is quietly shelved after major mistake. Adding to the story, Meghan wrote a heart doodle saying, "Hey hey all my girls with a K," as well as a kissing face emoji and three white hearts. Khloe is not the only Kardashian to receive As Ever goodies, as the family's matriarch Kris Jenner one of just 50 people to receive some of Meghan's now famous jam after it first went on sale in April. The Kardashian family are just some of many to enjoy Meghan's latest products with As Ever, as the 2024 vintage rosé wine went on sale just last week, with the booze still only available for US customers to buy. In a changing pattern for the lifestyle brand, the new tipple is still available to buy online: a stark contrast to her first product launches which saw products sell out within the first hour. Meghan celebrated the launch with a video to Instagram of her uncorking a bottle marked 'Bottle #1' to toast to her achievements. Alongside the clip, she wrote: "Here we go! First bottle off the line! Toasting to a beautiful day: Our Napa rose is live @aseverofficial." The pale pink wine, which comes in a clear bottle with a white, gold-rimmed label, has an ABV (alcohol by volume) of 13.5% – one percent lower than its predecessor. The new wine has the exact same price point as the previous batch, and is available in batches of three, six and twelve, with each bottle costing £22 ($30) and sold at £66 ($90), £116 ($159) and £218 ($300) respectively. The As Ever website describes the drink as 'thoughtfully curated by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex' and that it has been 'made to be enjoyed with the ones you love'. Meghan's gift to Khloe comes as Prince Harry is continuing to struggle after the fallout with his former charity Sentebale. The messy and very public boardroom battle saw the Duke of Sussex quit as patron of Sentebale in March in support of trustees who resigned in opposition to board chairwoman Dr Sophie Chandauka, who previously levelled accusations of bullying and harassment against the royal. A source claimed that the row has been "emotionally absolutely devastating" for Harry, with a spokesperson for the Duke now saying that he may go on to start a new humanitarian effort to continue the charity work he oversaw with Sentebale. The spokesperson for Prince Harry said: "The duke remains absolutely committed to continuing the work he started, supporting the children and young people of Lesotho and Botswana, nearly 20 years ago. In what form that support takes — no decisions have been made. All options remain on the table, whether that be starting a new charity or working to support pre-existing charities operating in the same sector in the region."

Netflix fans say 'they should have stopped' at season one despite show dominating number one spot
Jenna Ortega stars in the leading role of Wednesday - however not everyone has been left impressed as the second series landed on the streaming giant. Netflix viewers have been left unimpressed with the second series of a popular show, despite it currently sitting at number one on the streaming platform's official charts. Wednesday, starring Jenna Ortega, has returned to front the gothic comedy-drama for a second run. Despite it receiving raving reviews first time around, it appears both critics and viewers feel it should have wrapped up after one series. Although it ranks top most-watched on Netflix currently, with a high score on Rotten Tomatoes at 83 per cent, reviews are mixed. The official synopsis for the show reads: "While attending Nevermore Academy, Wednesday Addams attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a killing spree and solve the mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago." Many of the negative critiques all say the same thing. "They should have stopped after season 1. Remember when they tried to make a Napoleon Dynamite cartoon? That cartoon was better than this," one viewer said. Someone else added: " Great cast, however, incredibly boring and cliche. They just rehash the same ideas and plots from last season and don't accomplish anything new." It has been labelled as "disappointing" by some. "I'm really disappointed with this season. The show has lost its edge predictable plotlines and weak writing have replaced the suspense and creativity that made it great. I won't be finishing Season 2," wrote one viewer. Another even described it as "unwatchable" as they said: "I loved season 1. Season 2 is really, really bad. It is nearly unwatchable. The writing is lazy to the point of absurdity." "What happened?," questioned another. "Everything that made the first season great is gone. Everything that was witty, clever, dark or edgy about Season 1 has been flensed away." Another viewer noted: "I found the choice of music and Wednesday's wardrobe in Season 2 occasionally felt out of place compared to Season 1. I also sensed a shift in Jenna Ortega's portrayal — Wednesday seems notably different in tone." "A bit disappointed with the first part of season 2. Especially in the first 2 episodes I was extremely bored. Wednesday's dialogues seemed to me so superficial and without any depth, like her lines have been produced from an AI tool..," someone else said. Another viewer chimed: "Season 1 was good. Season 2 is as if they needed to come out with something." However, not everyone had the same opinion, with some fans of the show already looking forward to a highly-anticipated third series. One viewer wrote: "Season 2 is so freaking amazing and ICONIC!!! Super excited even more for the rest of the season!!!," as another added: Someone else said: "Huge improvement on Season 1, much more aligned with the Addams Family universe with plenty of references to previous Addams films and series." One critic voiced: "Jenna Ortega again delivers a spellbinding performance as Nevermore Academy's Sherlock Holmes."
