Ibrahim Ali Khan Is ‘Tailor-Made' For Camera, Says Sarzameen Director: ‘His Harshest Critics…'
Prithviraj Sukumaran, Kajol and Ibrahim Ali Khan starrer 'Sarzameen' released on OTT on July 25. It marked Saif Ali Khan's son Ibrahim's second film after Nadaaniyan. In a recent interview, Sarzameen director Kayoze Irani said that he believes Ibrahim is 'tailor-made' for the camera, and has got a screen presence. He said that even his strongest critics would acknowledge his presence in front of the camera. He revealed that he and Karan Johar chose Ibrahim for the film.
While speaking on Cyrus Broacha's podcast Cyrus Says, Kayoze Irani — son of Boman Irani and the director of Sarzameen — said that he saw something in Ibrahim Ali Khan. When asked who chose Ibrahim for the film, Kayoze replied, 'Karan sir and me." He further added, 'I did see something in him. The first thing I saw is that this boy is tailor-made for the camera. And even his harshest critics can't disagree. When he is in front of the camera, he has got a presence. He is made for the camera, and he is bloody handsome."
'He always had the physique. Atul (Mongia) also said that there is something really there. And we have to find his inner world. We have to find what is there inside of him that will come out so his performance is actually him. And that's what we focused on. And I used to have a little sheet with key words that I used to talk to him through the scenes about. Motivating words. So that's how it worked. And that's why he is getting a lot more love on this one," said Kayoze Irani.
How Ibrahim Ali Khan Was Chosen For Sarzameen
In another interview with SCREEN, Irani explained how Ibrahim was chosen for the film and the unique process behind his preparation. 'With Ibrahim, I was on the set of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023). Ibrahim was an AD (Assistant Director). He was filling in for Ranveer Singh as they were setting up the shot." He added, 'Karan sir and I both were sitting behind the monitor and we felt he's got a face for the camera. So we decided to launch him. We did an audition, readings, and a six-month workshop by Atul Mongia with him. That's how we brought him onboard," he revealed.
About Sarzameen
Sarzameen follows the story of an Indian Army officer—played by Prithviraj Sukumaran—whose worst fears come true when he learns that his estranged son, portrayed by Ibrahim Ali Khan, has joined a militant group. The film attempts to explore generational trauma, ideological conflicts, and fractured familial bonds against the backdrop of a volatile region.
The film starring Ibrahim, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Kajol marks Kayoze Irani's directorial debut. Produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, and Apoorva Mehta under Dharma Productions, in collaboration with Star Studios, the film was released on JioHotstar on July 25, 2025.

What Kangana said It all began when Jaya was seen in an angry mood as she saw a man trying to click a selfie just beside her. She pushed the man away and said, 'Kya kar rahe hai aap (What are you doing?) What is this?' Kangana took to her Instagram Stories and shared the video. In the caption, she wrote, 'Most spoilt and privileged woman. People put up with her tantrums/non sense just because she is @amitabhbachchan ji's wife. That samajwadi topi looks like a rooster comb, while she looks like a rooster cock!! Such disgrace and shame.' Kangana Ranaut via Instagram Stories. After Jaya Bachchan pushed the man away, he backed off and was seen stepping aside. Meanwhile, fellow parliamentarian and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi was also seen standing near the Samajwadi MP. In 2020, Jaya had condemned comments made by Kangana, where she'd compared the film industry to a 'gutter'. In response, Kangana said on her X account: 'Jaya ji would you say the same thing if in my place it was your daughter Shweta beaten, drugged and molested as a teenage, would you say the same thing if Abhishek complained about bullying and harassment constantly and found hanging one day? Show compassion for us also.' Last year, Kangana gave an interview to News18, where she went on to call Jaya one of the most 'dignified' women in the film industry. 'The way she carries herself in Rajya Sabha, I feel very good that we have this kind of representation from the film industry,' she had said. Jaya was last seen in Karan Johar's 2023 release, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Meanwhile, Kangana was last seen in Emergency, based on the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Janaki V v/s State of Kerala: Why you should watch Suresh Gopi's legal drama film on OTT
Malayalam actor-politician Suresh Gopi was back on the big screen in the role of an advocate with Janaki V v/s State of Kerala, which also starred Anupama Parameswaran in the titular role. The 2025 Malayalam film is set for its digital release on Zee5 via OTTplay Premium on August 15. Before the courtroom drama makes its digital debut, we list some of the compelling reasons as to why you should watch the Malayalam courtroom drama on OTTplay Premium. Suresh Gopi in Janaki V v/s State of Kerala Why you should watch Janaki V v/s State of Kerala on OTT Suresh Gopi as a fiery advocate Suresh Gopi's most popular advocate role would be in the Chinthamani Kolacase, which released way back in 2006. JSK marks the actor-politician's return as a feisty advocate, who mouths fiery dialogues and makes bold statements both inside and outside the courtroom. Suresh Gopi is known for his powerful dialogue delivery in his cop movies with some of his dialogues, such as 'Just Remember That' from the 1994 Malayalam film Commissioner, being popular to this day. Anupama Parmeswaran's return to Malayalam cinema Anupama Parmeswaran made her acting debut with the 2015 Malayalam film, Premam, which was an instant hit and all its three lead actresses gained much popularity. However, Anupama has only been seen in a handful of Malayalam films after that, with the actress making quick and strong progress in Telugu cinema with films such as Tillu Square and Karthikeya 2. Fans are excited to see her back in a Malayalam film with JSK. Woman's fight for justice JSK revolves around the titular character Janaki, a spirited young IT professional who falls victim to assault. The film then follows Janaki as she fights her battle in the courtroom even as the accused finds supporters too. Though all too familiar a tale in real life, JSK deserves a watch for the relevant and sensitive issue it seeks to tackle. Yet another Malayalam courtroom saga Malayalam cinema has delivered several gripping courtroom dramas in the recent past, including superstar Mohanlal's Neru, which narrates a blind sculptor's battle for justice. There is also Nna Thaan Case Kodu which blends in satire to the legal drama narrative. JSK joins this tall list of Malayalam courtroom dramas, while focusing on the sexual assault's fight for justice. JSK director Pravin Narayanan has also penned the script, incorporating thriller elements in the courtroom drama. There is also sufficient curiosity around JSK due to the huge controversy that the film weathered with the CBFC seeking to make changes such as removing Janaki from the title. The film was finally released with a modification in the title and two more changes. The digital release is likely to see more viewers watching JSK to get a better understanding of the controversy surrounding the film.
