for his remarks on the Fatehpur incident, deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak said the SP and the Congress pursue the policy of divide and rule to gain political mileage.
Pathak said that for decades, both the parties divided the country and the state on the lines of religion, caste, region, and language. He added that Akhilesh's statements were intended to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere in the state. "SP and Congress cannot tolerate a riot-free Uttar Pradesh. They want to exploit sensitive situations for vote bank politics," he said.
Reiterating the BJP's vision, Pathak said, "Our commitment is not to appease anyone and to work for all.
BJP govt works with the motto of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas' and implements welfare policies for the benefit of all sections of society."
Claiming that communal violence was effectively brought under control by the BJP govt in eight-and-a-half years, Pathak said, "SP cannot digest peace. Leaders like Akhilesh repeatedly make statements that threaten to damage the social fabric."
Speaking on the Fatehpur disturbance, Pathak said the govt took immediate steps to restore order, informing both sides of the facts and ensuring heavy police deployment. "Teams from 10 police stations, PAC units, and administrative officials were stationed to maintain peace," he said, adding that the situation was normal and those making claims over old structures had dispersed peacefully. He asked the opposition to stop "political opportunism" on the issue.
He also highlighted the BJP govt's work in education, claiming a "renaissance" in the sector. He said over 27 lakh new students were enrolled under this year's 'School Chalo Abhiyan' and that Rs 11,500 crore was invested under Operation Kayakalp to provide 19 essential facilities — including drinking water, toilets, electricity, blackboards, furniture, and classroom repairs — in 96% of schools. He said under the Atal Residential School Scheme, schools were launched in all 18 divisions, offering free residential education, sports, labs, and skill training to over 18,000 children from underprivileged sections. "The education system during the SP govt had collapsed. According to a report of 2015, 3.45 crore children were deprived of schooling at the time. In contrast, our govt is consistently investing in modernising schools," he said.
He appealed to opposition leaders to refrain from rhetoric that could harm the state's peace and development.

Bengaluru: Chief minister Siddaramaiah, in his address at the 79th Independence Day celebrations , urged people to raise their voices against the discrimination faced by Karnataka in the distribution of resources from the Centre. He also urged people to protest to highlight the growing concern that constitutional bodies like income tax department, enforcement directorate, CBI, and others are not working to uphold the true values of democracy and cooperative federalism as enshrined in the Constitution. The govt had spent Rs 96,000 crore to implement these schemes, the CM claimed, adding several studies had shown women's participation in the workforce increased by 23%. He also lauded the Rs 2,000 Gruha Lakshmi scheme and free bus services for women under the shakti scheme. Giving details of developmental work done in the agricultural sector, Siddaramaiah said a land resource inventory (LRI) was conducted on 10 lakh hectares for the first time in the country and cards with details of soil characteristics, nutrient content, and suitable crops are being distributed to 8 lakh farmers. "By strengthening APMCs, we achieved record arrivals of 164 lakh metric tonnes of agricultural products in 2024-25, a remarkable increase of 447%, which is the highest in the history of Karnataka," said the chief minister. Karnataka ranks first in per capital income: CM Karnataka now ranks first in the country in terms of per capita income, said CM Siddaramaiah. Over the past decade, the state has achieved a growth of 101 per cent in this indicator from Rs 1,01,858 at constant prices in 2013-14 to Rs 2,04,605 in 2024-25. Stressing the govt's priority towards industrial growth, the CM said 18 industrial areas covering 44,166 acres have been declared special investment regions. Investors have expressed interest in bringing in over Rs 10 lakh crore in investment, and 48% has already been processed under the single window IT platform.
