Although he couldn't participate in 2023 and 2024 owing to fitness issues, Chopra was present at the venue last year as a special guest. The upcoming event holds added significance as it will be hosted in the homeland of his legendary coach, Jan Zelezny.

"I am excited to announce that I will take part in the Golden Spike meeting in Ostrava this year. It's a legendary race and this year will be exceptional. My coach Jan Železný has not only won there many times, but also acts as the director of the whole event.
"I feel great and I hope you will see really nice and far-reaching feasts. I look forward to meeting you all," Chopra said in a press release issued by the tournament organisers.
Established in 1961, the Golden Spike meet is part of the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold label, ranking just below the
Diamond League
in global athletics importance.

Doha Diamond League
on May 16, followed by the inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru on May 24.
He has opted out of the Asian Athletics Championships, scheduled from May 27 to 31 in Gumi, South Korea.
The men's javelin event in Ostrava will feature a high-calibre field, including Czech Republic's Jakub Vadlejch, the silver medallist from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

How will the travel ban impact cricket? This rule could affect the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 season. There are seven Afghan players currently signed for MLC teams, including stars like Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad. MLC 2025 is set to begin on 12 June, just days after the ban comes into effect. While some Afghan players have already entered the US after getting visas, there are others still waiting for documents to come. According to ESPNcricinfo, MLC officials are hoping for the league to be officially recognised as a 'major sporting event' so that all its players can come. If that doesn't happen in time, then some Afghan players, who are yet to enter the United States, might have to miss out. Olympics and World Cup are safe for now The 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles and the 2026 FIFA World Cup (co-hosted by USA, Canada, and Mexico) will not be affected by the ban. The order specifically mentions the Olympics and the World Cup in the 'exceptions' section. The US government has already promised the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that athletes will be allowed to enter the country for the 2028 LA Games. What about other sports events? The problem is that the ban doesn't clearly define what is a 'major sporting event.' That might put other sporting tournaments in a grey zone. Also, players from banned countries who are already in the US and travel abroad for matches may face trouble returning. Many athletes from affected countries play in Major League Soccer (MLS), the NBA, and MLB. For instance, there are nine Venezuelan players in MLS. Venezuela is not fully banned but has been partially suspended. If players from Venezuela travel for national duty or personal reasons, they might not be allowed back into the US after the ban begins. What about fans? Guliyev to be stripped of 2012 Olympic medal after CAS dismisses appeal on ban
Ekaterina Guliyev is set to lose the 800 metres silver medal she won for Russia at the 2012 Olympics after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) dismissed her appeal against a four-year doping ban, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) said on Friday. Guliyev, who competed for Russia before switching allegiance to Turkey, was banned for two years in April 2024 for the period from March 2023 for the use of a prohibited substance, with the AIU disqualifying her results from July 17, 2012, until October 20, 2014. The 2012 Olympics were held from July 27-August 12. Competing as Ekaterina Poistogova, she finished third in the 2012 Olympic final. But Guliyev was upgraded to silver when Russian winner Mariya Savinova was found guilty of doping offences before she herself was also banned for doping. 'In reaching its judgement, CAS upheld the decision to disqualify the 34-year-old's results from July 17, 2012, to October 20, 2014, confirming the loss of her reallocated Olympic silver medal,' the AIU said in a statement. World Athletics' competition department will now disqualify her results and then notify the IOC. The women's middle distance events at the London Olympics were heavily tainted by doping, with two other runners in the 800m final since having had their results voided - Savinova and Russian Elena Arzhakova. Guliyev is one of the hundreds of athletes who have been sanctioned following the 'Operation LIMS' investigation into Moscow's anti-doping laboratory, which uncovered widespread institutionalised doping.
