IPOH: A man was killed in a four-vehicle crash in Kampung Merbau Tua, Jalan Baling-Kuala Kangsar, near Kuala Kangsar this afternoon.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said in a statement today that the victim had been identified as Megat Muhammad Ikram Megd Adeni, 33, from Kampung Luat, Lenggong.
He said a call regarding the crash came through at 1.32 pm, and seven minutes later, firefighters from the Kuala Kangsar Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the crash site.
He said the accident involved the Proton Waja driven by Megat Muhammad Ikram, who was travelling from Kuala Kangsar towards Baling, Kedah, which is believed to have collided head-on with a two-tonne Daihatsu lorry.
'According to information from the public, the accident also involved two other vehicles, a Honda car and a Toyota Hilux,' he said.
Sabarodzi said the lorry driver and his assistant sustained minor injuries, while the woman driving the Honda car was unharmed. However, the condition of the Toyota Hilux driver, who is believed to have proceeded to the nearest police station after the crash, remains unknown.
He said Megat Muhammad Ikram was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was handed over to the police.
Sabarodzi said the injured victims were taken to the hospital for treatment. The operation ended at 2.50 pm.

The accident involved a Yamaha Y16ZR ridden by a 38-year-old local man travelling from Kulai towards Kota Tinggi. The Yamaha collided with the rear of a Suzuki Smash Revo ridden by a 34-year-old foreign man. The impact threw the Yamaha rider into the middle of the road. He was then struck by a Honda RS150 ridden by a 32-year-old local man coming from the same direction. The Honda rider could not avoid the victim in time. The deceased suffered serious head injuries and died at the scene. His body was taken to the Forensic Unit of Kota Tinggi Hospital for a post-mortem. The other two riders are receiving treatment at the same hospital. Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. - Bernama

The drivers then exit their vehicles, and the Honda driver is seen punching the Proton driver, sparking a scuffle. The person who recorded the video is then seen attempting to break up the fight. While the circumstances leading to the fight are unclear, the video's caption accused the Honda driver of being a "gangster looking for trouble" and included the car's licence plate number. The video has garnered more than 50,000 views, with many social media users urging police to take action. KUALA KANGSAR: Five people were injured in a crash involving seven vehicles at Km234 of the North–South Expressway (northbound) today. The accident, which occurred at noon, involved a lorry transporting meat, a Proton Waja, a Toyota Vios, a Perodua Bezza, a Proton Saga, a Toyota Camry and a Mazda3. According to the Kuala Kangsar traffic police, initial investigations indicated that the lorry is believed to have lost control and crashed into the rear of multiple vehicles ahead of it. "The victims were taken to the hospital for further treatment," they said when contacted today. They added that the victims include the 36-year-old lorry driver, the 66-year-old driver of the Proton Waja, the 34-year-old Toyota Vios driver, the 31-year-old Perodua Bezza driver and a 28-year-old passenger in the Proton Saga. "At the time of the accident, the road was dry and the weather was clear." According to PLUS on its X account, up to 2.48pm, traffic was congested for 14km heading north and 10km heading south. Road users were urged to use alternative routes.
