Gujarat bridge collapse: BRS livid at BJP, terms it ‘double engine' failure
The BRS leaders took to X (formerly Twitter) to criticise the BJP government. Rama Rao wrote, 'Another day and another glorious example of the Double Engine Gujarat model. A Final Destination re-creation. One second you are on the bridge and the next in the river. After Morbi where 140 plus people died, this is another shocker. I am sure NDSA or other Bridge safety agencies will investigate all these falling bridges in Gujarat and Double Engine Bihar and MP, no? Wishing speedy recovery to all the injured.'
Expressing his deepest condolences, Harish Rao described the incident as unfortunate. He stated that bridge collapses have become commonplace in the BJP-National Democratic Alliance (NDA)-ruled states of Bihar and Gujarat, yet 'there are no inquiries into these. No action is taken.' He drew a comparison, noting, 'In the same Medigadda, if two pillars sagged, the NDSA comes in two days and gives politically motivated reports in a hurry in the name of investigation.'
He further added, 'In the same NDA-ruled state of Andhra Pradesh, even if the diaphragm wall, copper dam, and guide bund in Polavaram, which is being constructed by the central government under the supervision of the NDSA, are washed away, there is no inquiry or report.'
Harish Rao criticised the BJP for its lack of response to incidents within the Revanth Reddy government's purview, such as the collapsed SLBC, Sunkishala, the washed-away water pump house, and Peddavagu. He remarked, 'The NDSA does not come. This is a testament to the BJP's dual stance.
In BJP-ruled states and states ruled by BJP allies, it has one policy. And in states that question the BJP, it has another policy. This reflects the BJP's cunning mind that uses accidents as a weapon for political gains.'

Turning his focus to the BJP, Mr Goud alleged that the party's disregard for BC communities was evident in its internal leadership choices. 'Despite all the rhetoric, BJP didn't find a single BC leader worthy of heading the party in the state. Their double standards are now clear to the people,' he said. Hailing the Congress government's decision to provide 42% reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) in local body elections as a 'historic milestone in the journey towards social justice.' Congress party alone holds the distinction of delivering the highest-ever representation for BCs in the country's history,' he said. Mr. Goud further said that he was fortunate to be TPCC President at a time when such a landmark decision has been taken. This is not just a political move, it is a promise fulfilled, and a dream realised for the BC community,' he said. Recounting his own efforts, Mr. Goud noted that he had released the BC Declaration during his tenure as Working President of the TPCC in Kamareddy. Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Congress leadership, he said Rahul Gandhi was a hero in making BC reservations a national issue.

Modi govt released more funds to Kerala than previous Congress govts: Amit Shah
Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], July 12 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday slammed Kerala's ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Opposition Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), accusing both of being tainted by corruption. Rejecting allegations of the Centre's stepmotherly treatment toward the state, he said the Modi-led government had allocated more funds to Kerala than the previous UPA government. 'The track record of LDF and UDF has been that of a corrupt government. LDF has done explosives scam, cooperative bank scam, AI camera scam, Life Mission scam, PPE kit scam and India's biggest scam - state-sponsored gold smuggling scam,' Shah said at a BJP event in Thiruvananthapuram. Shah said that he will release the details of the Central funds allocated to Kerala later today. 'PM Narendra Modi government released money for Kerala many times than that released by the Congress government. I will release every detail about it publicly through the BJP head office today,' Shah said. He said that PM Modi has three core visions fundamental to Kerala's development - governance without corruption, no discrimination in government schemes and Kerala's development beyond political benefits. 'BJP and CPI(M) are both cadre-based parties, but there's a major difference between the two. Cadre welfare is bigger than the state's development in Kerala, while it is Viksit Keralam above cadre for BJP,' he said, claiming that the BJP puts people's welfare above narrow political interests. Shah also claimed that 'terrorism cannot be answered by anyone other than PM Modi and the BJP.' 'India will be free of Naxalism by 31 March, 2026... AIADMK will form govt with majority, says EPS in response to Shah's remarks in TNIE interview
PUDUCHERRY: The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) will secure a majority and form the government after the 2026 Assembly elections, party general secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said on Saturday. His statement came in response to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's remarks in an exclusive interview with The New Indian Express, where Shah said the BJP would be part of the government. When asked about Shah's remarks, Palaniswami responded to reporters in Puducherry, saying, 'Have I not said it clearly? AIADMK will win with a majority and form the government. Thank you!'. He did not elaborate further or categorically rule out the inclusion of alliance partners even if AIADMK secures majority on its own. Palaniswami's comments on Saturday were his clearest indication yet that the AIADMK is not comfortable to share power with the BJP. The idea of coalition government has remained a thorn in the AIADMK-BJP alliance ever since the Dravidian party joined back the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the presence of Shah in Chennai on April 11.
