Politics not a business, but service: Dattatreya
HYDERABAD: In a rare display of cross-party camaraderie, a host of political heavyweights and dignitaries gathered in the city on Sunday for the release of Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya's autobiography, 'Prajala Kathe Naa Atmakatha' (The People's Story is My Autobiography).
Speaking at the event, the Haryana Governor stated: 'Politics is neither a profession nor a business. It is selfless service to society. Politicians must stay rooted while upholding moral and ethical values.'
Recalling his time in the Sangh, Dattatreya, who represented Secunderabad multiple times in the Lok Sabha while in the BJP, said, 'The RSS is my life, my soul, my everything.'
The book release saw the presence of a distinguished line-up of leaders, including former president Ram Nath Kovind, former vice president M Venkaiah Naidu, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, and several Governors from across the country.
In a lighter vein, CM Revanth likened the gathering to 'a parade of Governors' and quipped that he could even convene a Cabinet meeting given the ministerial presence.
Sharing an anecdote from a NITI Aayog meeting, Revanth recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi pointing at Chandrababu Naidu and saying, 'Your friend is here.' To which Revanth replied, 'Sir, I did my schooling with you and my college with Chandrababu Naidu. My current job is with Rahul Gandhi!' The audience erupted in laughter.

We've increased maternity leave from 12 to 26 weeks with salary and promoted women-led development, with women excelling in various fields, including space exploration (Chandrayaan)." The Modi government has taken measures to eradicate poverty in the country, according to Nadda. 'We have not come with the slogan of eradicating poverty, we have shown by doing welfare for the poor. When I talk about accountable government, we talk about gareeb kalyan.. The statistics are proof of this...25 crore people in the country have come out of the poverty line. In this way, extreme poverty has been reduced by 80 per cent,' the Union Minister said. Speaking on bringing change to Indian politics, Nadda said, "PM Modi has changed the country's politics and political culture. The country was appeased 11 years ago. Earlier, saving a political chair by dividing society was the norm. When I say he changed the political culture of the country, it means politics of performance, responsive and responsible government, along with politics of report card, which means we are accountable. The work we are doing is in front of the public." Nada stated that the Modi administration demonstrated effective and decisive leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic. He emphasised that India conducted the largest vaccination campaign globally, administering 220 crore free double-dose vaccines, which cannot be compared with other countries. "We've demonstrated proactive governance through various operations like Operation Devi Shakti, Operation Rahat, Operation Maitri, Operation Vaccine Maitri, and Operation Ganga. Our COVID-19 management was exemplary, with the world's largest and fastest vaccination way India responded to COVID-19, no other country could do it. In India, India gave 220 crores free double-dose of vaccines," Nadda said. Giving credit to PM Modi for the completion of the recently inaugurated Chenab Bridge, Nadda said, "In 1995, during the time of Narasimha Rao ji, the foundation stone of Chenab Bridge was laid, Atal ji declared it a project of national importance and PM Modi completed this project and dedicated it to the nation on 6 June 2025." Taking a dig at the previous government, Nadda said, "Before 2014, the government was full of corruption and a prevailing sense of negativity. But after 2014, under the leadership of PM Modi, that sentiment changed. The negativism changed to optimism. Now people proudly say — Modi hai to mumkin hai. ' Speaking on the goal of Viksit Bharat, Nadda elaborated how the PM government has ensured development by following the best practices. "This is why our every policy was focused on perform, transform, reform..." the Union Minister said. 'In the last 11 years, we have moved forward with the mantra of 'Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas,' he added. On key initiatives taken by the PM Modi-led government to cater to the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP president highlighted, 'abrogation of Article 370, the country had accepted that this was not possible, but the Modi government removed Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir.' He further added, 'the turnout in the Lok Sabha was 58.46 per cent, while the turnout in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections was 63 per cent. This change has come due to the bold decision of the Modi government.' Listing other key initiatives introduced during the last 11 years, Nadda states, 'the abolition of Triple Talaq was a tragedy for women and humanity. Even Muslim countries didn't have the system of Triple Talaq. Similarly, he noted other key initiatives introduced by the Modi government in the last 11 years, including the Waqf Amendment Act, the Citizenship Amendment Act, demonetization, and women's reservation. Amit Shah's speech in Madurai abominable, divisive and misleading: DMK leader A. Raja
DMK deputy general secretary and the Nilgiris MP, A. Raja, on Monday (June 9, 2025), said the speech of senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Madurai on Sunday was nothing but 'an utter lie, a pledge for divisive politics, and abominable vengeance.' Speaking to reporters in Chennai, he said it was unbecoming of a Home Minister to forget his position, duty, and responsibility by making baseless allegations aimed at creating communal divisions and inciting unrest in a peaceful State governed by an opposition party, for political gain. 'His speech was abominable and does not augur well for federalism or the smooth relationship between the State and the Centre,' Mr. Raja said, reiterating his belief that the people of Tamil Nadu would not be swayed by Mr. Shah's 'cheap tactics and politically motivated speech.' Mr. Raja claimed the BJP government at the Centre was unable to digest the development and progress achieved by the DMK government under the leadership of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who has ensured the continuation of welfare schemes and development projects using state funds, as the Centre has failed to allocate funds on time. 'The Centre and the BJP have enacted a shameful drama in violation of political decency because they cannot stomach the State's growth. This does not reflect well on Amit Shah and his position as Union Home Minister. He should stop such political games,' he contended. Rejecting the suggestion that Mr. Shah's visit to Tamil Nadu had been a 'shock' to the DMK, Mr. Raja said, on the contrary, it was the BJP that felt the shock of the DMK's achievements. 'That is why they sent Mr. Shah to Tamil Nadu. The people of Tamil Nadu have rejected the BJP's communal and divisive politics and stand solidly behind the DMK in all elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Tamil Nadu five times during the previous Lok Sabha polls. His repeated visits show who is afraid of whom,' he said. Mr. Raja claimed the DMK had fulfilled all its electoral promises except for its assurance to government employees (on restoring old pension scheme). 'But the Chief Minister has constituted a committee to study their demands. We are not afraid of Modi or Amit Shah. Their ideology may win elections elsewhere, but the Dravidian ideology is an antidote to the BJP's ideology. They cannot set foot in Tamil Nadu as long as the Dravidian ideology is alive,' he said. When asked about the Lord Murugan conference (Murugan maanadu) being planned by the BJP in Madurai (on June 22), he charged that unlike the conference organised by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department, the BJP's motive was to incite communal sentiments against minorities. 'The people of Madurai do not accept their motives. Why has Mr. Amit Shah, who ranted about his love for Tamil, not answered why the Centre has not accepted the report on Keeladi (excavation)? Their mindset is against Tamils and the Dravidian ideology, and they will face the consequences in the 2026 Assembly elections. The visits of Mr. Modi and Mr. Shah only strengthened the DMK's prospects,' Mr. Raja felt.

CM Mamata Banerjee's election strategy based on 'appeasement politics', says BJP's Sukanta
Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], June 9 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and MP Sukanta Majumdar, on Monday, launched a sharp attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, alleging that her entire electoral strategy is rooted in 'appeasement politics.' In a post on X, Majumdar claimed that Banerjee's political roadmap is centred around two parallel tactics: 'relentless Muslim appeasement' and the 'continuous oppression' of Bengali Hindus. 'The entire game plan of West Bengal's authoritarian Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to win elections rests on one & only strategy,' appeasement politics'. On one side, relentless Muslim appeasement; on the other, continuous oppression of Bengali Hindus and systematic religious persecution all with the sole aim of turning Hindus into a minority and clinging to power at any cost,' he wrote. The post added on X, 'This is the desperate struggle of a failed Chief Minister! Today, the people of Bengal have only one resolve -- to make West Bengal a livable land for Bengali Hindus once again.' The video in the post said, 'We are like two flowers on the same stem - Hindu and Muslim' but now. In today's Bengal, it's only the Muslims who are cherished, while the Hindus are the neglected ones. One flower is being appeased, while the other is being consistently exploited. This is Mamata Banerjee's core political strategy to win elections. Soon, Hindus will become a minority in Bengal. This is the grim future awaiting Bengal's Sanatanis. In Siliguri, communal harmony was shattered by the Chief Minister's pampered vote-bank pawns. Yet, the crackdown selectively targeted Hindus; even violent attacks were unleashed. When people raised slogans like 'Jai Shri Ram' in protest, even the police, acting like party lackeys, were seen issuing threats. A police officer was seen threatening a crowd, 'Keep chanting for now, The real action will be taken at night. Okay? Dare to Say 'Jai Shree Ram' with me at night.' How outrageous is that? Without a trace of fear or shame, spineless police officers stood before the media cameras and threatened the Hindus for saying 'Jai Shri Ram.' One was even seen looking straight into the eyes of protesters and warning, 'Shout Jai Shri Ram' all you want now, we'll take action at night.' In Mamata's Bengal, even chanting 'Jai Shri Ram' has now become a punishable offense. But don't be afraid, the people of Bengal will soon give a fitting response to this one-sided oppression against Hindus under her regime. In Siliguri, the attackers who targeted Hindus have already been identified. and the list has been submitted to the authorities by Darjeeling BJP MP Raju Bista. He has also appealed to the Governor regarding the matter. This Bengal must be made livable again for Sanatanis. That is now the greatest pledge of the people of Bengal. ' On Saturday, Majumdar also responded to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's recent allegations regarding electoral rigging in the Maharashtra Assembly elections held in November 2024. Gandhi had claimed that those polls were 'rigged' and suggested a similar pattern would be seen in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Reacting to the Congress leader's statement, Majumdar said, 'The problem with our Opposition is that wherever they win, they say EVMs are right, and where they lose, they say EVMs are faulty and there is match-fixing.' He likened Gandhi's remarks to the excuses of 'kids who do not know how to play the match and then blame the pitch and the umpire.' Taking a dig at the Congress leader, Majumdar added, 'Rahul Gandhi does not know how to play. I wish that his prediction that the states without BJP government will have a BJP rule comes true. A BJP government should also be formed in Bengal according to his prediction.' Majumdar also suggested that Rahul Gandhi should visit West Bengal to witness the state of democracy under the Mamata Banerjee-led government, implying that it would offer him a clearer understanding of the challenges to democratic functioning in the state.
