Man United target breaks silence and claims he's 'earned' Red Devils' links - as Ruben Amorim bids to resolve goalkeeper problem with Andre Onana sidelined
The Royal Antwerp goalkeeper has been tracked by Man United, with Mail Sport reporting in January that the 23-year-old was viewed as possible competition for Andre Onana.
Onana is currently recovering from a hamstring injury, leading the Man United stepping up their search for another shot-stopper.
Mail Sport reported last week that Man United had failed in a bid to sign Aston Villa 's Emi Martinez on loan, with Lammens remaining an option.
Lammens, who was called up to the Belgian squad for the first time in March, has been tipped to move on from Antwerp following a superb season for the Pro League side.
Speaking to reporters in Belgium, Lammens expressed his belief that he has earned the links to Man United and would be able to make the step up.
The goalkeeper, however, suggested his next club would need to have a plan in place for his future in the event he was not the immediate No 1.
' Manchester United are one of the best clubs, yes,' Lammens said, as per Gazet van Antwerpen.
'But you never know. It could also be a different club, or who knows, I might stay here. In any case, I try to keep my feet on the ground. When teams like that come along, I think you've earned it.
'I certainly have enough confidence in myself. I think the most important thing is that my future team, whenever they arrive, has a plan in place.
'Ideally, that means playing immediately, but it's also possible I'll have to take a step in between.
'As long as there's a plan, it doesn't matter whether I'm ready for the next step or not. Everyone has their own career, their own path. Even if I don't take the right step right away, I'll get there.
'It could be within a few days, but also a few months or a year. I have people around me who help me with that, and that way I can focus on what I need to do.'
Lammens has made 61 first team appearances for Royal Antwerp, having originally come through Club Brugge's youth set up.
The shot stopper saved a penalty last week as Antwerp became their new season with a 1-1 draw against Union Saint-Gilloise.
Man United's goalkeeper issue could be eased somewhat with Onana having been pictured stepping up his recovery last week during the club's US tour.
Amorim's side will step up their preparations for the Premier League season with a friendly against Bournemouth on Thursday.
The Red Devils then face Everton on Sunday and Fiorentina at Old Trafford the following week as they build towards the new season.

Viktor Gyokeres reportedly set up a company in London almost two weeks before his move to Arsenal was finalised. The Gunners' interest in the prolific Swede had been obvious from the start of the summer window, but negotiations over a deal went on for weeks. Amid interest from rivals Manchester United, the delays must have left Arsenal supporters wondering whether they'd ever finalise a deal, let alone complete a transfer in time for next season.
