
Made-in-India Maruti Suzuki Fronx secures 4-star Japan NCAP safety rating
The Fronx is one of several cars made in India and exported to other countries, including the brand's home country. The Japan NCAP safety rating for the Fronx sold there is out, and it has a fairly impressive score of 4 out of 5 stars. However, the Fronx sold in Japan does come with a few additional features, like an all-wheel drive system and level-2 ADAS. The Fronx hasn't been tested by GNCAP or BNCAP just yet.

advertisementIn terms of the score itself, the Fronx scored 163.75 out of 193.8 points in the Overall Safety Performance, which is an impressive 84 per cent. In the Preventive Safety Performance, again, the Fronx was impressive once again with a total score of 79.42 out of 85.8 points, which amounts to 92 per cent. In the Collision Safety Performance, it scored 76.33 out of 100 points and in the Automatic Emergency Call System, the Fronx produced a perfect 8 out of 8 score.

Furthermore, it was tested for pedestrian safety as well, wherein it scored Level 3/5 for pedestrian head protection and a Level 5 for pedestrian leg protection, which again is a good score. When it comes to Autonomous Emergency braking, the Fronx scored a perfect Level 5 rating, and Level 3 for the intersection part of the test. It remains to be seen if the Fronx sold in India can secure a similar score, since it lacks the aforementioned additional safety equipment.

OpenGMSL association formed to transform future of in-vehicle connectivity
In a landmark move for the automotive technology sector, a coalition of leading OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, semiconductor manufacturers, and ecosystem partners on Wednesday announced the formation of the OpenGMSL Association . This newly launched initiative aims to establish Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link (GMSL) as an open, worldwide standard for SerDes-based transmission of video and high-speed data in vehicles. Tata Motors launches Harrier EV at ₹21.49 lakh
Tata Motors has launched its all-electric SUV, the Harrier EV, with prices starting at ₹21.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Built on the platform, the Harrier EV combines a dual-motor powertrain , advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and connected technologies as part of the company's push to strengthen its presence in the electric vehicle segment. Powertrain and off-road capability The Harrier EV is equipped with a dual-motor Quick-Wheel Drive (QWD) setup, enabling all-wheel drive and delivering a peak torque of 504 Nm. The front motor generates 158 PS, while the rear produces 238 PS. The SUV accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 6.3 seconds and supports fast charging that delivers 250 km of range in just 15 minutes. It includes six terrain modes—Normal, Grass/Snow, Mud/Gravel, Sand, Rock Crawl, and one user-configurable mode—along with Off-road Assist and a transparent underbody view for enhanced off-road usability. A multi-link Ultra Glide suspension system with Frequency Dependent Damping supports vehicle handling and ride comfort. Technology and driver assistance The vehicle offers automation features such as autonomous parking assist, summon mode, and reverse assist under its e-Valet suite. Visibility is enhanced with a 540-degree camera system, blind spot monitor, and an HD rearview mirror with built-in dashcam functionality. It also supports Digi Access, a digital key system using smartphones, NFC cards, and remote controls with UWB proximity technology. A 14.53-inch Harman infotainment display powered by Samsung Neo QLED and a JBL Black 10-speaker system with Dolby Atmos are included as standard. Mappls Auto navigation provides EV-specific features like battery-efficient routes, charger suggestions, and range mapping. A panoramic sunroof, multi-colour ambient lighting, and a BOSS mode that adjusts the front passenger seat add to cabin flexibility. Utility features include Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) power sharing capabilities, 65W USB-C chargers suitable for laptops, 502 litres of boot space (expandable to 999 litres), and an additional 35-litre front trunk on AWD variants. Safety and platform Safety is supported by over 20 Level 2 ADAS features , including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, and Autonomous Emergency Braking.
