Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner has reportedly been tapped to lead an exciting new broadcast for the NFL this upcoming season.
According to insider Andrew Marchand at The Athletic, Warner will serve as the lead analyst for the league's first ever YouTube live stream which will take place during Week 1's season-opening game between the Kansas City Chiefs and LA Chargers in Brazil.
Due to its lack of infrastructure in the live broadcasting space, the video sharing platform will also reportedly pay NBC to assist in production for the event — as Amazon Prime did when it was kickstarting its "Thursday Night Football" broadcasts a few years ago.
As big of a get as Warner is though, he's only the first piece. According to Marchand, YouTube still doesn't have a play-by-play voice locked down despite the game being roughly a month away.
In a packed opening weekend all across the football world, most of broadcasting's biggest names are already tied up with other commitments.
Not to mention that a lot of the bigger networks have been "reluctant" to let their talent hop on streams that aren't under their own umbrella in this competitive age of engagement and attention.
In addition to the Warner-led livestream, Marchand adds that YouTube will also share alternative streams featuring some of the platform's top creators and influencers where they'll offer reactions and commentary of their own on the action.
The NFL season officially kicks off Thursday, Sept. 4 when the Eagles host the Cowboys on "Sunday Night Football" and Peacock before following that up with the Chiefs-Chargers YouTube game.
Now it's just a matter of finding out who will actually be sitting next to Kurt when the lights come on that Friday night in the league's second straight Week 1 Sao Paulo game in that time slot.Legendary NFL Quarterback Kurt Warner Lands Exciting Job first appeared on The Spun on Jul 29, 2025

New Borderlands 4 trailer is a funny critique of capitalism, and Randy Pitchford says if we "share and retweet" we could get more: "Those numbers directly impact the decisions made in the suit meetings and conference rooms"

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Borderlands 4 has had its fair share of marketing mishaps, from Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford saying "real fans" would find a way to pay $80 for it to a collector's edition that isn't a collector's edition and doesn't even contain the game. But a new trailer is already at over 100,000 views on YouTube, and Pitchford says we need to get sharing it if we want to see more like it. The trailer is actually a narrative short film that introduces the backstory of Rafa, a new Vault Hunter. Raised in an asteroid belt, he can't handle planetary gravity without the aid of an exosuit developed by the Tediore corporation. It plays out a Robocop-esque scene where the exosuit is paraded in front of shareholders, and deadly violence ensues. It's a blunt-but-funny parody of the kind of capitalism we're all too familiar with these days – maybe even a parody of the video games industry itself. Making the parody even more real is Pitchford himself, who tweets: "If you like this kind of thing instead of normal commercials, please share and retweet. Those numbers directly impact the decisions made in the suit meetings and conference rooms." The kinds of conference rooms and suit meetings being explicitly mocked in the trailer...? We can debate until the cows come home if it's possible to effectively critique a system such as capitalism from within it, but here we are. All I know is I enjoyed the video, it even made me laugh out loud once, which Borderlands has never made me do before, so that's something. In the meantime, check out all the upcoming games of 2025. Pittsburgh Steelers fans soak in the excitement at annual Friday Night Lights practice

The energy was electric when the Steelers showed up to Latrobe Memorial Stadium for their annual Friday Night practice under the lights. 'Just the atmosphere,' said Jason Stone of Uniontown, attending his third Friday Night Lights. 'The people the crowd, the noise, you can't get anything better than being here! Friday Night Lights!' Fans told Channel 11's Andrew Havranek they look forward to this practice all summer. They said there's just something special about seeing the pros up close, and getting their autographs. This year, a highly coveted autograph was that of the four-time NFL MVP Quarterback Aaron Rodgers. 'I've gotten Aaron Rodgers, [Spencer] Anderson, Pat Friermuth, that was awesome!' said Lexi Thurston of Chesterfield, Virginia. '[Rodgers is] an absolute legend like you can't get any better than that. It's like crazy it made me freak out, I didn't know what to do.' 'I'm hoping he leads us to the Super Bowl, obviously getting him that last one before he retires,' said Landon Thomas of Lancaster, Ohio. Before practice started Channel 11's Andrew Havranek caught up with fan who shares the Aaron Rodgers name. Of course, her first name is spelled a bit differently, but it's still caused her some hardships, especially after Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers beat the Steelers in Super Bowl XLV. 'Growing up I always got name like, all kinds of jokes about me, when I go into restaurants, everyone thinks I'm joking most of the time, they're like 'you're Erin Rodgers?'' she said. Now, she's just hoping that since Aaron Rodgers is in the black and gold, she won't be booed anymore. 'It makes it a lot better instead of it being kind of an exciting but also booing me it will be more an all around 100% good because now I can outwardly support him and not be shunned,' Rodgers said. And as for that Rodgers Packers jersey she owns? 'Are you going to be replacing that with a Steelers' Rodgers jersey?' Havranek asked. 'I am considering it,' Rodgers said.
