Carnival just canceled another five cruises—here's what vacationers need to know
The cancellations affect sailings on the Carnival Breeze departing January 11, March 5, March 13, March 18 and March 22, 2027, all of which were set to sail from Galveston, Texas, to the Western Caribbean. The cancellations follow a recent last-minute scrapping of a 2026 Carnival Liberty voyage due to a shipyard strike in Cadiz, Spain.
Dry dock periods are the cruise industry's equivalent of a pit stop—it's the time when ships get spruced up, inspected and sometimes overhauled. Carnival says the Breeze is due for a turn in the shipyard, and with a packed maintenance schedule across the fleet, some voyages had to give.
Affected passengers and their travel agents were notified weeks ago. Carnival is stepping up, however, by helping passengers book a comparable sailing at the same rate, offering onboard credit for rebooked trips or a full refund for those who choose to call the whole thing off.
While cancellations aren't everyday events, they're not entirely unheard of. Maintenance needs, redeployments and charters can all derail cruise calendars. In fact, Carnival is not the only cruise line to drop sudden cancellations. MSC Cruises recently cancelled five months of sailings on the MSC Meraviglia, and Norwegian Cruise Line cut over four months of sailings on two ships this summer.
If you had your sights set on a 2027 getaway on the Carnival Breeze, you'll need to pick different dates, or a different ship. On the plus side, the extra time in dry dock should mean your next round of on-board margaritas could come with fresher paint, shinier decks and maybe even a few new perks.

Notting Hill Carnival issues major route changes ahead of bank holiday celebrations
Carnival has been ongoing for decades, but this year the organisers have made a few changes set to ensure everyone is safe and can enjoy their day, we've put together everything you need to know from updates to schedule. One of the world's biggest street parties, Notting Hill Carnival is quickly approaching, attracting more than two million revellers to the streets of West London for the August Bank Holiday. The carnival is a celebration of community, unity, Caribbean culture and history but this year comes with big changes. From giant digital screens and new support crews to subtle route tweaks, Notting Hill Carnival organisers have taken to Instagram to show they introduced fresh measures to keep the two-day party safe, smooth, and unforgettable. Here's everything you need to know before you hit the road. It comes as The Mirror's Darren Lewis advised people not to let let killjoys stop Notting Hill Carnival after cops called it a 'war zone'. Route changes and stewards Many carnival goers are used to sticking to the same route or even following a float, but this year the organisers are introducing new routes and might even send you on a detour - but don't stress, it's all in good faith. Stewards will be guiding the crowds along alternative paths to ensure everything moves safely and comfortably, and while many don't like change - you may discover a hidden gem along the way. Digital screens with updates For the first time in Notting Hill history, stationary digital screens will be dotted along the route sharing safety tips, key updates and announcements ensuring everyone is in the loop and well informed while they celebrate. For more stories like this subscribe to our weekly newsletter, The Weekly Gulp, for a curated roundup of trending stories, poignant interviews, and viral lifestyle picks from The Mirror's Audience U35 team delivered straight to your inbox. New teams on the ground Extra support crews will be stationed across the streets to answer questions, give directions, and help keep the event stress-free for everyone involved. Moment of reflection At 3pm on both main days, Carnival will pause for a 72-second silence in memory of the 72 lives lost in the Grenfell Tower fire. The moment will also honour Takayo Nembhard and Cher Maximen, who were tragically killed at Carnival, as well as Kelso Cochrane, whose racially motivated murder in 1959 was the drive for the event and the pioneers who built its foundation. From the children parade, to the steel bands competition each carnival day is set will bring something different continuing the long standing Caribbean celebration. But beyond the new announcements, we've put together the official carnival schedule to ensure you don't a single part. Weekend Schedule Saturday 23 August - Panorama Emslie Horniman's Pleasance Park, W10 3DH, 16:00–23:00 Carnival celebrations kick off on Saturday with the UK National Panorama Steel Band Competition - now including a junior category for the first time. It's raw, unfiltered, and deeply rooted in Caribbean tradition. Official Opening Ceremony - 10:00–10:30 Traditionally led by local residents, organisers, and friends of Carnival, this year's ceremony will open the judging zone grandstand to the public for the first time, giving everyone a front-row seat to see the bands up close. Australia is the seventh ‘most fun' country in the world, according to 17,000 people
Boy, do we have a fun fact for you! Australia's known for its laid-back lifestyle, cheeky banter and silly slang. With one of the world's best work-life balances, we know how to kick back and not take life too seriously. And to prove it, a global perception survey of 17,000 people named Australia as one of the world's ten 'most fun' countries – edging out our mates in New Zealand. Take that! This ranking comes from the US News & World Repor t's annual Best Countries report, which polled 17,000 respondents from 36 nations worldwide. Since 'fun' means something different to everyone, they surveyed a diverse pool of people, including business leaders, informed elites and the general public – asking each to rate how strongly they associate each country with fun. Australia scored an impressive 85.1 out of 100, landing as the seventh-most fun country in the world. It was one of only two countries in Oceania to crack the top ten, and yep, we beat New Zealand, which came in ninth. Looking for fun things to do Down Under? We recommend having a laugh with local legends at your neighbourhood pub, catching a live AFL, NRL or cricket match, surfing at one of our legendary beaches, sipping your way through our world-class wineries, or simply chilling out at a backyard barbecue. Want more fun? Here's your ultimate guide to the best things to do in Australia. If you're looking to have maximum fun while travelling, Spain is the place to be – officially crowned the most fun country on the planet. Its fun factor gets a juicy boost from La Tomatina Festival, the world's largest food fight, where more than 20,000 people chuck tomatoes at each other in the streets. Sure, getting splattered in tomato juice isn't everyone's idea of fun, but Spain's also got beautiful beaches, flamenco fiestas, tasty tapas crawls and a buzzing late-night party scene. A little bit of fun for everyone! Next up was Brazil – home to the world's biggest celebration of Carnival – followed by Thailand, Italy and Mexico.
