Liverpool reject $78mn Bayern bid for Luis Diaz: Report

Liverpool are adamant Luis Diaz is not for sale after rejecting a £59 million bid from Bayern Munich.
The PA news agency understands the Bundesliga champions' offer of £67.5 million ($78.5 million) was immediately dismissed, in keeping with the club's stance which saw them rebut an approach from Barcelona earlier in the summer.
Diaz is in the last two years of his contract and, while talks have not progressed over a new deal, privately Liverpool insist he remains an important player and interested clubs are being told that.
There is also a long-standing interest from the Saudi Pro League in the 28-year-old Colombia international.
Al Hilal's failed £100 million bid for Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, who is two years older, is viewed by some as a benchmark valuation for an elite attacker in the domestic and global market, but regardless there remains no appetite to sell.
Only a few weeks ago Diaz hinted at uncertainty over his future by claiming his representatives were openly discussing his options.
'We are currently in contact with Liverpool, because we are talking to clubs, and that's normal given the transfer market that's opening,' he said last month.
'We're trying to arrange what's best for us.'

'It's always nice to see young players from 16, 17 or 18 years old already impacting a game. If you are 16 and you can impact the game like he did, that's definitely worth a compliment.' Slot did, however, sound a word of caution. 'There was also a moment in the game where he should have squared it to Macca (Alexis Mac Allister) or Curtis (Jones) so (there are) also learning parts for him,' he added. Forward Hugo Ekitike made his first start since last week's £79 million move from Eintracht Frankfurt and played the first 45 minutes, while another new signing, Giorgi Mamardashvili, started in goal after Alisson Becker returned to Brazil for personal reasons. After conceding 10 minutes into the second half Liverpool turned things around with the help of their youngsters. 'More than a few times there were some very good moments in build-up, but what I also saw in the goal we conceded and in the first half the big chance we conceded was that we had to work harder in those moments to sprint back than we did,' said Slot. 'That is something that also happened to us when we played Milan. It could be (to do) with a tough training camp and it could be (to do) with the heat circumstances - but that's something that we definitely have to improve towards Bilbao (on Monday). 'I thought last season was already tough, but if you look at what all the Premier League teams are doing, the Premier League is even going to get stronger. 'We need to be ready for that - that's where my full focus is at the moment.'

Bayern sign forward Diaz from Liverpool
dpa Berlin Bayern Munich have completed the signing of forward Luis Diaz from Liverpool, the German record champions said in a statement on Wednesday. The 64-times capped Colombia forward signed a deal until June 2029. 'I'm very happy, it means a lot to me to be part of FC Bayern - they are one of the biggest clubs in the world. I want to help my new team with my way of playing football and my character,' Diaz said. Bayern reportedly paid 75 million euros ($86.6 million) for the player. That would make Diaz the third most expensive signing in club history, after Bayern paid around 100 million euros for Harry Kane and 80 million euros for Lucas Hernandez. The Premier League champions were initially not willing to sell Diaz, who came to Anfield and in 2022 and had 41 goals and 23 assists in 148 matches. The situation changed after Liverpool managed to sign Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt. 'Luis Díaz is a player with international experience, enormous quality, terrific skills and great reliability who will help our team immediately. We're delighted we've been able to bring him to FC Bayern,' Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl said. Diaz could make his debut for Bayern in Saturday's friendly against Olympique Lyon. Bayern were looking for a new attacking player following the departures of Leroy Sané, Mathys Tel and Thomas Müller, and after they failed to sign Florian Wirtz, who moved from Leverkusen to Liverpool. A long-term injury of midfielder Jamal Musiala also put the German record champions under pressure in the transfer market. Bayern have also signed Germany centre back Jonathan Tah and young midfielder Tom Bischof in summer. In addition, they are after Germany forward Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart. Bayern have already made two offers for Woltemade, but both were rejected by Stuttgart. 'We made an offer. That has not yet led to any talks. That's the status quo,' Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said during an event at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday. 'We'll see what happens next,' he added. Woltemade reportedly reached an agreement with Bayern, but the clubs are far apart when it comes to the transfer fee. Woltemade's agent, Danny Bachmann, confirmed to dpa that Bayern had offered ?55 million in their latest bid. However, Stuttgart reportedly wants at least ?65 million for the player.

Bayern Munich have completed the signing of forward Luis Diaz from Premier League champions Liverpool for a reported fee that could rise to 75 million euros ($86.7m). The Colombian, who won the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup during his time at Anfield, has signed a contract with the Bundesliga champions until 2029.
