Paris Haute Couture Week 2025: Celine's spring 2026 show marks Michael Rider's first runway, honouring past designers Phoebe Philo and Hedi Slimane while looking forwards
Schiaparelli , but ready-to-wear brand Celine kicked things off on Sunday with its spring 2026 show. The event marked the debut of Michael Rider at the LVMH-owned French label after the successful six-and-a-half-year tenure of Hedi Slimane.
While at Celine, Slimane wasn't a fan of fashion week – he showed his collections in locations such as Los Angeles, or in Paris but off schedule, and often released images and videos in lieu of holding shows – which means the maison has been off the radar for many editors and industry insiders.

Debuting Rider's collection during haute couture week was a smart decision on the part of LVMH, as the calendar this season is a bit lacking in excitement.
Dior – which recently parted ways with womenswear designer Maria Grazia Chiuri to make way for Jonathan Anderson – will not hold a show, while Chanel's collection has been designed by the fashion studio in anticipation of
Matthieu Blazy's debut in October . Balenciaga will stage
Demna 's last show as he gets ready to unveil his first collection for Gucci in September, and Italian label Valentino is not on the calendar. Meanwhile, it's unclear whether 90-year-old designer Giorgio Armani will be at his Armani Privé show, after he skipped the men's shows in Milan last month for health reasons.
Belgian designer Glenn Martens' debut as creative director of
experimental brand Maison Margiela will be a hot ticket. He takes over from John Galliano, who left the Italian-owned French label at the end of last year.
Given the lack of high-profile outings, the Celine show was the week's most awaited event. Rider joins Celine from Ralph Lauren, but this is not the American designer's first job at a European house. Following a stint at French-owned Spanish label Balenciaga, Rider worked at
Celine under Phoebe Philo , making his new role a homecoming of sorts.

Held at the label's headquarters on Rue Vivienne, the show took place in the courtyard of the 17th century building – where a giant printed scarf acted as a canopy of sorts – and in the upstairs salons.
Silk scarves similar to that one appeared throughout the show, even tied as a bow at the neckline on one of the best looks, a strapless black gown.
Celine is not a brand with rich archives to mine, but it still boasts a strong visual vocabulary thanks to Philo and Slimane. Rider did a great job of bringing back some of Philo's signature silhouettes, while also revisiting Slimane's tailoring and his penchant for elevating wardrobe staples such as skinny jeans and leather jackets.

Paris Haute Couture Week 2025: Chanel, Schiaparelli and Armani Privé shine
The Chanel Creation Studio delivered its last collection before Matthieu Blazy's debut in October, at Paris Haute Couture Week 2025. Photo: Reuters Paris Fashion Week: Haute Couture The autumn/winter 2026 haute couture shows are under way in Paris. While this season is a bit lacking in excitement due to the absence of big names such as Dior and Valentino, haute couture is still the pinnacle of fashion – the ultimate embodiment of the savoir faire of centuries-old ateliers in Paris and beyond. Here's a look at three of the biggest shows of the week so far. Schiaparelli: Back to the Future A sequinned leopard-print look at the Schiaparelli haute couture 2025-26 show. Photo: Handout During a recent conversation in Hong Kong, Schiaparelli owner Diego Della Valle , also chairman of Tod's Group, talked about the importance of sticking to a brand's codes while constantly updating them in order to stay relevant. This is even more important, Della Valle explained, when dealing with previously dormant houses like Schiaparelli, which he single-handedly revived after acquiring it in 2007. His advice has not fallen on deaf ears. Since taking over as creative director in 2019, American Daniel Roseberry has been building on the rich visual vocabulary and surrealist tropes of Schiaparelli without, however, staying stuck in the past. That pivotal change in the life of the designer made Roseberry reflect on those fraught times – the early days of World War II – and the tension between past, present and future at the heart of every creative endeavour.

Style according to … Lucien Pagès: the founder of the eponymous PR agency shares his favourite hotels in London and New York, as well as his favourite films and TV series
A fixture at the top shows at Paris Fashion Week and beyond – from Saint Laurent to Sacai – Lucien Pagès is the definition of a PR maven. His eponymous agency, which last year was acquired by global marketing and communication group The Independents, has helped brands such as Jacquemus and Schiaparelli reach new heights and has propelled the careers of many independent designers. With offices in New York and Paris, and clients spanning the globe, Pagès is a globetrotter and a Renaissance man, as his tips on his favourite finds from around the world show. Here's a look at them. What I'm watching (and reading) Drea de Matteo wears an animal print jumpsuit in The Sopranos, one of Lucien Pagès' favourite shows. Photo: HBO Advertisement I am a big fan of series – every night before bed I escape reality with a TV show. I like the best ones of the moment, but these are in my pantheon: The Sopranos, The Wire, Six Feet Under. I mostly read biographies – movie directors, artists, collectors, royalty and iconic celebrities. I like to know about a talent's life and work. My favourite writer is Bret Easton Ellis. I am sad he is not writing more. I also have a list of my lifetime favourite films, from All About Eve (1950) to Elle (2016). (See below.) The Insta accounts I can't stop scrolling Lucien Pagès enjoys memes posted by @maviedanslaqueuedelacaf. Photo: @maviedanslaqueuedelacaf/Instagram I love funny accounts with smart memes like @maviedanslaqueuedelacaf. I like @stylenotcom. He is so kind and clear in his posts – I think he is showing you can be buzzy on social media without being mean. My grooming hacks Lucien Pagès recently started using Acqua Sale by Bottega Veneta. Photo: Handout I am terrible with routine, I have no patience for it. But I have been wearing Eau d'Hadrien from Annick Goutal since I was 15, and Guerlain Eau de Cologne Du Coq and recently Acqua Sale from Bottega Veneta. I also like the Purifying Auric Cleanse Bath Salts from Aman Essentials. Where to go in Paris
