EastEnders fans slam jarring BBC couple who were not a match
Zack Hudson and Whitney Dean were a prominent couple on the show who planned to get married before Whitney discovered her partner's unfaithfulness.
Things famously came to a head at their wedding ceremony when Britney revealed Zack had cheated on Whitney.
A furious Whitney then attacked Lauren and Zack before storming out of the registry office, according to Digital Spy.
Taking on the EastEnders official Reddit page, the original poster asked: "Did anyone actually like Zack and Whitney being together?"
Fans of the BBC soap opera were quick to express their dislike of the relationship, with one user writing: "Always jarred a bit for me - the storylines about Peach, the fostering, Britney etc were good, but as a couple they felt a bit flung together. Which was probably the point IDK."
Another agreed, penning: "Yeah, I felt the same. I wasn't keen on them as a couple (despite them both producing some good work together) and felt they weren't a match, either personality or chemistry-wise.
"But this was by design and what they wanted to portray (given that Shona has known she was going for most - if not all - of that time)."
One user said: "I did feel like their relationship came out of nowhere. I don't remember them interacting at all, and then she suddenly had a crush on him.
"I didn't really like Zack until the Peach storyline, I think he supported her as best he could, and he seemed like he genuinely cared about her.
"I think if Shona hadn't wanted to leave, they would have stayed together. They seemed like a solid couple before the Britney stuff, and I thought they were good together."
Another fan added: "No, because I was annoyed that they didn't pair Zack and Sam together. All that build up and nothing, what a waste of time that was."
Another echoed this dislike, writing: "Never. Zack was a playboy, and Whitney was a hypocrite with Lauren after she got with Joey while she was in rehab.
"The dig at her being an addict just before her and Zack got together was uncalled for, too."
However, one fan went against the grain, telling the OP: "Yes, I liked them together and was annoyed when he cheated with Lauren.
"I'm hoping they don't put him and Lauren together. I don't know why, but I feel he could get with Zoe when she returns to the square"

BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Ben Cohen 'signs up for Celebrity SAS' amid heartbreak Former Strictly Come Dancing star Ben Cohen has reportedly signed up for Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, just weeks after his split from Kristina Rihanoff Ben Cohen has reportedly signed up to a new reality show Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins has reportedly signed up Strictly Come Dancing alumnus Ben Cohen just weeks following his unexpected split from his partner amidst financial turmoil. The 46-year-old may be recognised more for his rugby achievements, but also made a splash on the dance scene with Strictly over ten years back. Ben is said to be gearing up for yet another telly stint after enlisting in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, according to insiders. Sources reveal that the ex-rugby star has faced difficulties in his private life due to his engagement ending, prompting him to dive headfirst into new professional pursuits. "Ben has had a difficult few months with his split from Kristina, having to sell their home and also dealing with mounting business debts," the insider revealed. "Celeb SAS is not only a good pay day for him, but it's a new challenge to immerse himself into. Ben is obviously a sportsman and a very physical, competitive player, so if anyone can handle the SAS recruitment process, it's him," they further elaborated to The Sun. Ben is reportedly taking on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins Article continues below BBC to broadcast live coverage as Oasis come to Cardiff READ MORE: Reality TV is not uncharted territory for Ben. He notably shone in September 2013 as a competitor in the eleventh series of Strictly, and conquered The Jump's third season in January 2016, even outperforming Dean Cain to victory in March of that year, reports the Mirror. In 2017, he graced the screens as a contestant in season 7, episode 8 of The Celebrity Chase. He then showed his competitive spirit in January 2018 on And They're Off!, racing for Sport Relief. Fast forwarding to December 2023, Ben stripped down for ITV's The Real Full Monty, advocating for cancer awareness. While competing on Strictly, Ben fell deeply in love with his professional dance partner, Kristina Rihanoff. The Sun disclosed back in March how Ben and Kristina's relationship had come to an end. Ben and Kristina met on Strictly in 2013 The pair welcomed their daughter, Milena, in 2016 — the year they bought their home — and got engaged in 2022, yet now they've put the house on the market. Ben, the ex-England rugby legend, famously left his wife Abby to pursue a romance with Russian dancer Kristina Rihanoff after being matched together on Strictly Come Dancing in 2013. However, reports suggest financial strains have led to their breakup. A source alleged: "Ben left his wife, Abby, for Kristina, only to now split with her. It's like the curse in reverse. This will be like karma for Abby; she was so upset when Ben left her. It's like he has got his comeuppance." Another source disclosed: "The past six months have been hell for them, and it has torn the love they had apart. For the sake of their family, they have chosen to go forward as separate individuals. Those close to them who know them as a couple had hoped they would be able to work things out, but for now it's over, and it looks like there's no going back." The couple were reportedly struggling financially (Image:) Their troubles started when they ventured into business together, with Kristina doubling up as a dance instructor. She conceded that they had "invested everything we've ever had" into Soo Yoga, crystallising her passion for exercise into an enterprise. Nonetheless, they encountered severe difficulties once the pandemic struck. Last September, in a courtroom revelation, their financial woes became public knowledge when Kristina was prosecuted for driving her £30,000 Audi without insurance. Article continues below The former pair listed their Northampton residence for sale, with Ben already stepping down as a director from their shared yoga venture. Their five-bedroom Northamptonshire property, which initially cost them £950,000, was sold for £1.75 million, the Daily Mail reports. Wales Online has reached out to Channel 4 for comment. Donald Macdonald dies as tributes paid to popular kids TV presenter
Famed for hosting children's show Play School, the "showbiz great" lost his short battle with cancer on Monday. Veteran TV presenter Donald Macdonald has died aged 86. Famed for hosting children's show Play School, the "showbiz great" lost his short battle with cancer on Monday. As reported by the Mirror, his career spanned more than 40 years and saw him star in a number of stage shows - including John McKellar's A Cup of Tea, a Bex and a Good Lie Down - as well as TV dramas he also wrote. He is best remembered, however, for entertaining families on iconic BBC show Play School, which Donald presented from 1966 to 1969 alongside other famous faces, such as Trisha Goddard. Journalist Craig Bennett shared on his social media yesterday: "One of our showbiz greats left us at 12:45am today. "Donald Macdonald was a stalwart of stage and screen, who'd written smash-hit plays like Caravan, dazzled on London's West End, and delighted millions over the decades with his starring turns on TV series like Play School where he was a presenter from 1966 to 1969." Bennett, who is based in Australia where Donald was born, added: "He guested on shows from Certain Women, The Box, Cop Shop and Skyways, to the raunchy Alvin Purple, and in movies like Superman Returns. Donald was a dapper delight and always great company." Donald enjoyed early success as a stage actor in Australia before moving to the UK in the mid-1960s to broaden his career. He was able to write more theatre work, including Caravan, a comedic play about three couples on a hapless holiday together. He continued to act, and film credits included Superman Returns and Kenny. However, a short journey with cancer put pay to acting and presenting in recent years, and Donald died in Australia on Monday. The performer spent time with his cousins Paula Duncan and Amelia Barrett during his last days. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Mr Bennett's social media post continued: "On Saturday we turned his hospital room into a party, laughs and smiles a-plenty, as Donald enjoyed some bubbly and lemon meringue pie. Blue was always his colour, even in a hospital gown! He gave his permission to post his last photo, saying 'what the heck!' Vale to a true gentleman." Facebook users responded to the journalist's post, sharing their sadness at the showbiz star's passing. One fellow actor wrote: "Honoured to have appeared in two of his plays. The consummate gentleman. And, no one played a High Court Judge like Donald. RIP." Another shared: "We were VERY LUCKY to meet Donald through you both, get to know him, and be entertained by his lovely demeanor, sharp wit and of course his writing skills. What a lovely, gentle man."
