GTA 4 and Red Dead 2 website updates have fans thinking new ports are coming

Metro4 days ago
Rockstar Games' website currently lists GTA 4 for a console it's not currently playable on, as next gen Red Dead Redemption rumours return.
Since Rockstar has delayed GTA 6 until May 2026, it would make sense for the studio to have something else ready, to keep fans occupied until then.
While no other Rockstar games have been officially announced, past rumours have pointed to re-releases for Red Dead Redemption 2 and, most significantly, GTA 4.
The latter has been rumoured to be coming later this year and in lieu of any formal reveal, it's suspected Rockstar has accidentally hinted at both projects on its website.
The purported evidence for these ports comes from Rockstar's support page. Here, you can select whichever game you're having issues with and then navigate the different tabs to narrow down the problem.
Yesterday, someone noticed the Red Dead Redemption 2's support page suddenly featured a new tab related to online migration, and they shared their discovery in the Red Dead Redemption subreddit.
This is obviously in reference to the Red Dead Online multiplayer mode, except the game has never allowed you to migrate your character and progress from one platform to another before.

The website has since been updated to remove any mention of online migration, but the fact it was there at all suggests Rockstar intends to incorporate it in the near future.
Considering Red Dead Redemption 2 is nearly seven years old, it'd be a bit random to now introduce online migration between the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions.
It's more likely this is further evidence of the game receiving a current gen patch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and possibly a port to the Nintendo Switch 2.
As for GTA 4, a similar situation has occurred there, where its support page now lists the PlayStation 4 among the game's support platforms. Unlike the Red Dead Redemption 2 example, this tab hasn't been removed, at least at time of writing.
For the record, GTA 4 isn't playable on PlayStation 4 in any shape or form. The game only ever launched for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, and is currently only available through Steam as well as the Xbox Series X'sbackwards compatibility feature.
The PlayStation 4, however, isn't backwards compatible with PlayStation 3 games and GTA 4 isn't included in the retro games catalogue for PlayStation Plus.
As such, this lends credence to the idea that GTA 4 is getting a PlayStation 4 re-release soon and somebody at Rockstar has jumped the gun by updating the game's support page. More Trending
It's worth noting that Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive doesn't have any new games scheduled for the final quarter of 2025. Mafia: The Old Country is coming out on August 8, with NBA 2K26 and Borderlands 4 launching in September.
We can't imagine the company would be fine having no further releases, especially around Christmas time, so perhaps Take-Two will pad out the rest of 2025 with these Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 4 upgrades/ports.
Rockstar is also financing remakes of the first two Max Payne games, which are in the works at Alan Wake 2 developer Remedy, but the lack of any real info suggests they're unlikely to drop this year.

U2 frontman Bono reveals he lived on leftover airline food and Cadbury's Smash after losing his mother at 14 - and spent his money on records instead

As one of the most successful rockstars in the world, Bono isn't short of a penny or two. But it turns out that life for the U2 frontman, 65, who is said to be worth £500million, wasn't always so easy as he revealed he resorted to eating instant mashed potato and leftover aeroplane food after his mother died. Speaking on the Ruthie's Table 4 podcast, the Irish singer said that as a teenager, his brother Norman, who worked at Dublin Airport, used to bring home surplus airline food for him. He said: 'After my mother died, I would usually return home with a tin of meat, a tin of beans and a packet of Cadbury 's Smash [instant mashed potato]. He continued: 'Thinking back to being a teenager, food was just fuel. 'I would spend my food money on things far more important like Alice Cooper 's Hello Hooray.' Bono's mother, Iris Hewton, died in 1974, aged 48, after an aneurysm when he was just 14-years-old. He added: 'The house was two miles away from the runway where my brother Norman worked for Aer Lingus. He had talked them into allowing him to bring home the surplus food from the airline. This was highly exotic fare. 'Gammon steak and pineapple, an Italian dish called lasagne that we'd never heard of or one where rice was no longer a milk pudding but a savoury experience with peas.' The singer, who grew up in Dublin, said he sadly doesn't remember much about his mother but has vivid memories of the family kitchen. He told River Cafe owner and presenter Ruth Rogers: 'Sadly, I don't have many memories of my mother cooking or otherwise. 'After my mother died, we just didn't speak her name. So it's hard when you do that to recall these things. 'We certainly had kitchen table dramas, three men arguing a lot because the woman of the house was gone. And I remember my relationship with food changed.' When asked about his experience of travelling the world and trying new food after joining U2, Bono said: 'We were blessed with the gift of getting a manager who loved food and wine as much as he did music. 'Record companies would give us per diems, which means they pay for you to stay in a hotel up in Manchester or wherever after we had played. 'But we wouldn't stay in the hotel, and we would drive back and save up our per diems and use them in nice restaurants.' The rocker, whose real name is Paul Hewson, also revealed he avoids drinking before gigs because of how demanding his vocals are. 'I have only ever had alcohol twice before going on stage,' he told the podcast. 'Once because I had a wedding, and another was that my father had to put me to bed in Paris in the late 90s. 'You can't sing well if you drink before. If you sing those big notes, you have to be careful what you eat and drink before.' Bono's rise to fame began in 1976 when he formed a band with schoolmates in Dublin, answering a notice posted by drummer Larry Mullen Jr. The group, eventually named U2, quickly made a name for themselves with their raw sound and electrifying stage presence. Their early albums, especially Boy and War, also gained critical acclaim, with Bono's passionate vocals and stage presence earning him attention. The band's explosive performance at Live Aid in 1985 catapulted them onto the world stage, but it was the release of The Joshua Tree in 1987, with hits like With or Without You, that made them global superstars.

Nintendo Switch 2 has a secret problem that could cripple third party support

There's a reason so few new third party games have been revealed since the Switch 2 launch and it could be a ticking time bomb for Nintendo. Although by all accounts the Switch 2 has been a great success commercially and, in terms of Mario Kart World, critically, it is peculiar how few games have been announced so far, and how even many of those that have been confirmed do not yet have firm release dates. Although Nintendo does as Nintendo will, it does seem peculiar given how much time they've had to prepare for the console's launch, with no outside constraint on when they release it (which makes you wonder why they chose June). A new Nintendo Direct is rumoured for the end of the month but new claims suggest that the lack of news is not intentional on the part of Nintendo, but a result of them not being able to get enough devkits to third party companies in time. That doesn't explain why there's been so few first party games so far, but according to the normally reliable Nate the Hate, it's a miracle that there's been as many third party titles as there has. In terms of the volume of games, from all different kinds of publishers, the Switch 2 launch line-up was pretty good but since then very few third party games have been announced, even when it's seemed they'd be easy to port to the Switch 2. This is apparently because Nintendo has been slow to get devkits – the modified version of a console used to create games – into the hands of developers, especially 'AA and low-AAA developers.' Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. According to Nate the Hate many developers still don't have a devkit even now and that's going to create a major gap in the Switch 2's schedules, when it comes to third party titles. Incredibly though, it's suggested that even close partners like Ubisoft, Bandai Namco, Capcom, and Sega don't have enough devkits to go around, even though most of them had launch titles. Apparently even Microsoft is affected, with the suggestion that they may not announce any significant support until 2026. 'They [all third party developers] have games they want to announce for the platform. They have a lot of support coming to this platform,' says Nate. More Trending Speaking in the same podcast, Modern Vintage Gamer suggests that up to two-thirds of all publishers and developers who made games for the Switch 1 do not have Switch 2 devkits. What neither source can say though, is how much of this is intentional. Considering Nintendo only had one major first party title available at launch, and relied on third party title Cyberpunk 2077 to prove the power of the new system, there's absolutely no reason for them to discourage third party support. It may be some kind of logistical problem but perhaps most likely is that it's the result of Nintendo's infamous secrecy and paranoia, even though most basic details of the Switch 2 leaked out before its reveal. However, they are especially worried about piracy at the moment, as several unfair banning incidents have made clear, so they may have been concerned that giving too many companies access to the hardware before launch may have led to it getting into the wrong hands. An amazing John Wick video game you've never heard of will be delisted this week

One of the best turn-based tactics games of all-time, that also happens to be a John Wick tie-in, is going to be removed from sale on Thursday. If this was the 90s you would've been drowning in John Wick video games by this point. They all would've been 2D action platformers, and probably not very good, but in the old days any movie with even a hint of action invariably got turned into a video game tie-in. Those days are long gone and movie tie-ins are relatively rare now, especially ones based on specific films and not the universe in general. The licence to make them is often too expensive and by the time the game is finished the movie risks being old news. Even so, it does seem bizarre that there have only ever been two John Wick games, one of which is a very brief VR 'experience', and the other of which you'll no longer be able to buy after this week. Apart from a pinball game and the aforementioned VR title, called John Wick Chronicles, the only hint at a big budget tie-in was back in 2022, but nothing's been heard of that since. So that means that the only proper video game ever released for the franchise is 2019's John Wick Hex. It wasn't well promoted and only had middling reviews, but we loved it. Not because we particularly like John Wick but because it's a highly original turn-based tactics game, where you have very fine control over John's movements and actions, carefully choreographing his attacks and dodges like a sort of slow-motion action game. We discussed it at length in an interview with creator Mike Bithell, back in 2019, who discussed what it was like to work with Hollywood producers, something he's become quite adapt at given his most recent game is Tron: Catalyst. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. Although we love the game, the fact that it wasn't an action title and had very ugly graphics, with no involvement from Keanu Reeves, led to it being almost entirely ignored – despite the fact that it's only £16. It was eventually released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC but will be delisted this week, on Thursday, July 17 on all online stores. That's presumably because the movie licence has run out, which is something that often happens and means that other high quality games, like Activision's two War For Cyberton Transformers games, are no longer available to buy. It's also why racing games, like Forza Horizon 4, always get delisted after a few years. If you already own the game as a digital download then you'll still be free to download it whenever you want, but if you don't own it by Thursday then you'll never be able to. More Trending 'After July 17th, 2025, existing owners of John Wick Hex will still be able to access the game via their digital libraries (PC/console) and/or physical copies (console), however new purchases of John Wick Hex will not be possible, regardless of platform or storefront,' confirms publisher Big Fan Games. After that your only option is to buy someone's console or Steam account that has it, but no one's likely to go to that much effort for John Wick Hex. They did for the P.T. demo though, for what would've become Silent Hills, but then Konami went the extra step of completely erasing the demo, so that it can't even be re-downloaded. That's made consoles with it on the hard drive something of a collector's edition – we just checked and there's currently one on eBay going for over £700.
