7 top new movies and shows to stream this weekend on Netflix, Prime Video and more (Aug. 8-10)
From the supernatural mysteries of "Wednesday" season 2 to the sharp wit of "King of the Hill" season 14, and the epic romance of the spinoff "Outlander: Blood of My Blood," there's a little something for everyone.
Plus, "Jurassic World Rebirth" arrives on premium video-on-demand to provide dinosaur-sized thrills for those craving big-screen excitement on their small screen at home. Here are our top picks for new TV shows and movies to watch this weekend.
Wednesday Addams is back at Nevermore Academy, and things have taken an even darker turn. Season 2 throws Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) into a whirlwind of eerie visions, including one that hints at danger for her roommate Enid (Emma Myers).
Between unraveling a fresh supernatural mystery, wrestling with her unpredictable powers and dealing with her meddling family (hello, Grandmama!), Wednesday's got her hands full. Plus, there's a new, rather meddlesome principal on campus, played by Steve Buscemi. Forget romance — this season cranks up the gore.

Adult friendships can be messy — just look at Will (Seth Rogen) and Sylvia (Rose Byrne), who are back for another round of questionable choices, midlife meltdowns and enough booze to drown a small town. He's just gotten engaged to a tech billionaire, and somehow she's stuck organizing the whole wedding.

Season 2 spices things up with fresh comedic talent like Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney, and Beck Bennett. Some friendships mellow out like a fine wine; others are like those tequila shots you never should've taken.

Long live the 'King.' Fifteen years after Fox pulled the plug, 'King of the Hill' is back — older, sharper and just as biting. Season 14 jumps ahead several years, with Hank and Peggy Hill returning from Saudi Arabia to discover that Arlen, Texas, isn't quite the hometown they left behind.
Bobby's grown into a 21-year-old culinary star in Dallas, while old rivals like Kahn (Ronny Chieng) remain as ornery as ever. This comeback is exactly the quirky fix 2025 needed.

Before Claire and Jamie, there were their parents: Julia and Henry, Ellen and Brian. This prequel series rewinds the clock with not one, but two sweeping romances — one set against the mud and mayhem of World War I, the other in the shadow of a Highland clan power struggle in 1714 Scotland.
Like the OG series, 'Blood of My Blood' offers intrigue, passion and just enough timey-wimey magic for diehard Sassenachs and curious newcomers alike.
Episode 1-2 premiere Friday, Aug. 8 at 8 p.m. ET on Starz
'Rebirth' is less a sequel, more a course correction. Set five years after 'Jurassic World Dominion,' this one strands a morally dubious extraction team and an unlucky civilian family on an equatorial island where the last surviving dinos still roam.
Scarlett Johansson stars as Zora Bennett, a no-nonsense ops specialist hired to wrangle dino blood for a money-hungry pharma bro. Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey round out the crew.

Eddie Murphy and Pete Davidson are a mismatched duo in this fast-moving heist comedy. Murphy plays Russell, the gruff veteran who's seen it all; Davidson is Travis, the twitchy new guy who's mostly seen trouble. Their armored truck route is business as usual … until it isn't.
A stickup crew hits them hard, led by Zoe (Keke Palmer), who also just so happens to be Travis's regrettable one-night stand. From there, it's all downhill: Russell's wife (Eva Longoria) is furious, the stolen cash is more trouble than expected and what should've been a simple job turns into an all-out scramble.

Set in '87 Oakland, this anthology film is a wild mix of punk rock revenge, rap battles and low-key superhero madness. Directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck ('Captain Marvel') ditch the big-budget gloss to return to their indie roots with a gritty, VHS-style throwback.
Pedro Pascal's a world-weary debt collector, Normani shines in her film debut and Sleepy Floyd literally becomes a superhero — yes, really. It's messy, but that's part of the charm. And the '80s nostalgia is pitch-perfect.

Bloodhounds Season 2: Latest updates on Release date, cast and plot details
By Aman Shukla Published on August 9, 2025, 18:30 IST Last updated August 9, 2025, 11:04 IST Man, Bloodhounds Season 1 was a total gut-punch, wasn't it? Those insane fight scenes, the bromance between Kim Gun-woo and Hong Woo-jin, and that raw take on shady loan sharks had us all glued to Netflix back in June 2023. With 146.7 million hours watched and a spot among the top K-dramas of the year, it's no shock fans are losing it waiting for Season 2. Good news: it's happening! Here's the latest dirt on when Bloodhounds Season 2 might drop, who's in the cast, and what kind of wild ride the plot's got in store. Release Date Speculation For Bloodhounds Season 2 Nobody's spilled an official release date yet, but there's enough chatter to make a decent guess. Cameras started rolling in September 2024, and word is they'll keep at it until April 2025. Season 1 took about a year and a half from filming to streaming, so late 2025—maybe November or December—feels like a safe call. Some folks on X are hyping a summer 2025 premiere, but that's probably wishful thinking with production still chugging along. There's also a random post floating June 5, 2026, but that's not confirmed. Best bet? Mark your calendar for late 2025 or early 2026, and keep your Netflix subscription ready. Cast Updates: Who's Returning For Bloodhounds Season 2 The core of Bloodhounds is its badass cast, and Season 2's bringing back the champs: Woo Do-hwan as Kim Gun-woo, the ex-marine who throws punches like he's settling a personal score. Lee Sang-yi as Hong Woo-jin, Gun-woo's loyal bestie with a big mouth and bigger heart. Now, here's where it gets spicy: Jung Ji-hoon (Rain) is joining as Baek-jeong, a cutthroat boss running some sketchy underground boxing league. Rain as a villain? First time ever, and it's got fans buzzing like crazy. Another newbie, Hwang Chan-sung (yep, from 2PM), is jumping in for a big role, but the details are locked tight. Oh, and Choi Siwon (Super Junior) is back as Hong Min-beom, the rich dude who helped out last season. Plot Details: What to Expect in Bloodhounds Season 2 Season 1 was all about Gun-woo and Woo-jin teaming up with a good-guy moneylender to smash Kim Myeong-gil's evil loan shark empire, Smile Capital. It was a bloody, emotional win, but the finale teased more trouble brewing. Season 2's taking things to a whole new level with a global illegal boxing league run by Rain's Baek-jeong. This guy's no small-time crook—he's got power, probably some dirty connections, and he's dragging our boys into his messed-up world. Drawing from Jeong Chan's Bloodhounds webtoon, here's what's likely coming: Crazier fights : Rumors say the budget's bigger, so expect some jaw-dropping, bone-crunching action. New bad guys : With Smile Capital toast, a nastier crew—maybe tied to some big-shot politicians—steps up. Going global : The underground boxing league could mean new cities or faces, making this a worldwide showdown. More heart: Gun-woo and Woo-jin's backstories should get some love, plus stronger female characters after fans spoke up last season. Kim Joo-hwan, the guy who directed Midnight Runners , is back to keep the vibe gritty and real. Expect Season 2 to hit hard on real-world issues like crooked systems while serving up the kind of action that makes you cheer out loud. I just found the most suspenseful spy thriller on Prime Video — and now I don't think I can sleep tonight
In further proof that time is a social construct, it's already been more than a decade since the film world lost one of its finest actors: Philip Seymour Hoffman, the character-actor legend who died in February 2014. And while many of the performer's roles across the decades have been deservedly commended, from his iconic entrance as bratty Freddie Miles in "The Talented Mr. Ripley" to his Oscar-winning turn as author Truman Capote in "Capote" to his chilling take on a scandalized Catholic priest in "Doubt," there are still some Hoffman performances that are overdue for praise. One such credit is the 2014 espionage thriller "A Most Wanted Man," which marked Hoffman's final leading performance before his death. (He appeared in a supporting capacity in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" films.) In the absorbing spy drama, the actor plays a hard-drinking, world-weary German intelligence officer tasked with spying on Hamburg's Muslim community, offering up a remarkable send-off to an already stunning screen career. Need more convincing? Here's why you should add "A Most Wanted Man" on Prime Video to your watchlist. Based on the 2008 novel of the same name by John le Carré and directed by Anton Corbijn, "A Most Wanted Man" centers on Günther Bachmann (Philip Seymour Hoffman), a security agent leading a covert German government team tasked with recruiting local informants with ties to Islamic terrorist organizations. "When a half-Chechen, half-Russian, tortured half-to-death immigrant turns up in Hamburg's Islamic community, laying claim to his father's ill-gotten fortune, both German and US security agencies take a close interest," reads the drama's logline, per Prime Video. "As the clock ticks down and the stakes rise, the race is on to establish this most wanted man's true identity — oppressed victim or destruction-bent extremist?" Along with Hoffman, the star-studded ensemble features Rachel McAdams as immigration lawyer Annabel Richter, Willem Dafoe as banker Tommy Brue, Robin Wright as CIA agent Martha Sullivan and Grigoriy Dobrygin as Chechnyan refugee and suspected terrorist Issa Karpov. One of the most suspenseful and cerebral spy flicks in recent memory, "A Most Wanted Man" received wide acclaim for Hoffman's potent final performance. (The film was released posthumously in July 2014.) Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Los Angeles Times critic Kenneth Turan called it "a fitting film for him to leave on, not only because it is so expertly done but because his role was so challenging," adding that even for "as brilliant a chameleon" as Hoffman was, "making us believe he was Günther Bachmann, a German intelligence officer, had to be one of the most demanding roles in a lifetime full of them." Elsewhere, Eric Kohn of IndieWire commends the actor for imbuing his character "with an elegant quality that goes beyond topicality to suggest the timeless empathy within us all. A meticulously plotted thriller whose slow-burn pace more than pays off in the end, the film boasts a solid 86% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, where the site's critical consensus reads: "Smart, subtle, and steadily absorbing, A Most Wanted Man proves once again that John le Carré books make for sharp, thoughtful thrillers."[ Watch "A Most Wanted Man" on Prime Video now
