Angela Bassett, Joshua Jackson and Don Johnson coming together on the small screen, might as well call them the dream team!
On the Thursday, March 20 episode of ABC's Doctor Odyssey, Bassett's Athena Grant from 9-1-1 — a series created by Ryan Murphy, like the medical drama — makes an unexpected appearance on Doctor Odyssey. Per a synopsis of the episode titled "Casino Week," Athena "spots two suspicious passengers eyeing the vault" and subsequently "teams up with Max (Jackson) to counter their plans in a high-stakes gamble."
Filming the crossover episode provided Bassett, 66, the opportunity to work alongside Jackson, 46, Johnson, 75, Phillipa Soo and Sean Teale. Of getting to act with Jackson and Johnson, specifically, the honorary Academy Award winner tells PEOPLE exclusively that "it was absolutely wonderful meeting Joshua and Don" because she's "just big fans of their work."

"It was just a love fest. It was certain times I had to, with the guys especially, I would have to walk away, center myself because they have so much wonderful energy and so much to say," she continues. "They are just such a delight."
"You have to remember that we're working here. We're working, and I would have a monologue of something to say and I just couldn't play with them up until the action," she says. "I would have to walk away just for a brief second to center myself, but it was a lot of fun."
The Black Panther actress also notes that it "was just a great set to be on."
"The camaraderie, the laughter. Laughter while you're up there working," she recalls. "The hours are long. But it was such a group of just wonderful and talented individuals. It reminded me of 9-1-1, the people that work with every day."

Since 2018, Bassett has starred in eight seasons of 9-1-1 opposite Peter Krause, who plays her TV husband Bobby Nash. Working on the procedural has taught her to "continue to have the opportunity to hone your skills, to be forever grateful, to show up, to be there for others [and] to lead by example," she says.
"I think those [were] things that I knew, but you have to just do it," she adds. "Be consistent. We [are] in our eighth year. So you have to be consistent."

Blake Lively, Taylor Swift's Friendship Reports: Opinion

If you've vaguely been keeping up with the ongoing legal saga between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, then you've likely heard Taylor Swift's name being tossed around. Last year, Blake accused the It Ends With Us director and star of sexual harassment and retaliation. He then countersued and alleged that Blake had, among other things, used the influence of people like Taylor to try to exert control over the movie, with the Blake referring to the singer as a "dragon" to her "Khaleesi" over text message. Justin's $400 million lawsuit against Blake has since been thrown out. Still, a line of "sources" has been telling a story of the decade-long friendship between the two disintegrating. Back in May, a source said that their friendship had "halted" as "Taylor wants no part in this drama." This weekend, a source told People, "Taylor and Blake aren't speaking." Here's the thing: I think there's a possibility it's all bullshit. I think it's worth considering that Justin's team has been called out by the judge on their case for evoking Taylor before. When Justin's lawyer tried to claim that an unspecified source had informed him that Blake had threatened to release texts between herself and Taylor if she didn't support her, the judge struck it from the record and said, "The sole purpose of the Letter is to 'promote public scandal' by advancing inflammatory accusations, on information and belief, against Lively and her transparently invites a press uproar by suggesting that Lively and her counsel attempted to 'extort' a well-known celebrity." We know that evoking Taylor was likely considered as part of Justin's PR strategy from at least last August. Blake's lawsuit provides a "Scenario Planning Document" created by Justin's PR team "should [Ms. Lively] and her team make her grievances public." It suggests that Justin's team should "also explore planting stories about the weaponization of feminism and how people in BL's circle like Taylor Swift, have been accused of utilizing these tactics to 'bully' into getting what they want.' Justin's team has said that they created the document because they believed Blake and Ryan Reynolds were taking "extreme measures" to "undermine" Justin. We also know that Justin's team probably had a meeting with at least one contributor to various tabloids who, according to messages from Justin's PR team that appear in Blake's lawsuit, "hates Blake" and 'will do anything for [Justin's team]." A member of Justin's team also expressed fear that Blake would "activate" Taylor's fans against Justin, according to court documents. Now, Justin's team has denied orchestrating a smear campaign against Blake. But I do think it's fair to question the validity of stories that seem to want to weaponize the Swifties against Blake. These stories could easily serve two end goals: 1) Make Blake the bad guy in the court of public opinion, and, 2) Distract from ongoing news from the court case that doesn't exactly paint Justin in a great light. You might subsequently ask, Well, why hasn't Taylor come to Blake's defense? Why haven't they even been seen in public? To that, I'd say that this is an ongoing legal case. Given that Justin's team are essentially arguing that Blake uses Taylor to strongarm people into getting her way, it wouldn't be a great look for either one of them to make a big public show of support. None of this is even getting into the fact that this isn't some petty "drama." Real domestic violence organizations have argued that this case could have affected how we litigate and talk about sexual harassment. Remember, underneath all of the noise is a documented allegation of sexual harassment. This is true regardless of whether or not someone made a cringe comment about an old HBO show. So when you comment about how you can't be fucked to hear about this anymore, remember that all the money and privilege in the world could allegedly not stop someone from being smeared for raising a workplace complaint. If Taylor has broken up with Blake over the "drama," then what does that say about her? In short: Maybe there's more going on than what the sources say!

Ryan Paevey is returning to 'General Hospital 'after 7 years

The actor explained that the idea of returning to the series was kickstarted by receiving a text from "General Hospital" executive producer Frank Valentini. More than seven years after his departure, Ryan Paevey is returning to General Hospital. The actor, who starred as Detective Nathan West from 2013 until 2018, is set to appear in new episodes of the hit ABC sudser starting this September, Entertainment Weekly has learned. Deadline was the first to report the news. EW has reached out to representatives for General Hospital and Paevey for comment. It is currently unclear what role Paevey will play in his grand return to the series, given that Nathan was killed at the end of his five-year run. (Not that death has ever stopped anyone from returning to General Hospital before.) Speaking to Deadline, Paevey explained that he began to explore the idea of potentially returning to the series after receiving an unexpected text from executive producer Frank Valentini. 'We talked a bit and he asked would I consider returning for awhile, talking story, floated different story ideas involving different time commitments of me, and I thought, 'if we're going to do this we should really do it and surprise the fans with a meaty storyline,'' Paevey told the outlet. 'I was surprised by my excitement for a homecoming and reuniting with familiar faces after seven years. I still have my last call sheet from my final taping day on January 18, 2018, tacked up in my home office.' The announcement comes just four days after Paevey teased on Instagram that he had 'some news to share' with fans after attending a fan event in Georgia. 'I've got some irons in the fire,' he said at the time. 'I've got all kinds of fun stuff coming up. So stick around and, yeah, I hope to see you guys at another. And I'll share some news with you as soon as I can.' Paevey previously announced that he would be taking a step back from acting in 2024 in order to protect his mental health and to be closer to his mother after she was diagnosed with breast cancer. 'The industry hasn't felt like the place for me in quite some time now, and my mental health has suffered from it,' he said in a statement to Heavy. 'It's taken me to a bit of a dark place, made me into a version of myself I don't like very much.' He added, 'I've had bank accounts hacked, money embezzled, investments stolen….things that, while difficult, can be recovered from. But after all that, my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. I left Los Angeles to be closer to her, and feel the need to devote more of my time, energy, and resources closer to home.' Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly
