What We Know About Those ‘Hannah Montana' 20th Anniversary Plans

If you were raised in the golden era of Disney Channel when Hannah Montana took over every fiber of your being, buckle up, because this news might have you saying, 'Sweet niblets.' ICYMI, Miley Cyrus recently teased that something big is coming just in time for the 20th anniversary of the beloved sitcom, which first aired on March 24, 2006. During an interview with On Air With Ryan Seacrest, Miley talked about everything, from her new album Something Beautiful to performing 'II Most Wanted' with Beyoncé in Paris. Among the topics discussed was Hannah Montana, as the 'Flowers' hitmaker pointed out that her 'Hannahversary' is coming up. 'It's about to be the 20-year Hannahversary in March!' she quipped, adding, 'I want to design something really, really special for it because it really was the beginning of all of this that now sits here today.' 'Without Hannah, there really wouldn't be she continued. 'It's so crazy to think that I started as a character that I thought would be impossible to shed, and now, that's something that when I walk into a space, it's looked at as this sense of nostalgia or something that you have from your childhood. But now, I've sort of been integrated into everyone's life as the character has.' Of course, longtime Hannah fans are scrambling to figure out what Miley has up her sequined sleeves—especially because most of us have grown-up money we're willing to blow for our childhood icon. Here's what we know about Miley Cyrus's Hannah Montana 20th anniversary plans so far... The last time Miley Cyrus toured as Hannah Montana was during the Best of Both Worlds Tour, which ran from October 2007 to January 2008, when she was 15 years old. If we were a movie (heh), something tells us a Hannah Montana 20th-anniversary tour would be canon. However, this is real life, and the real-life superstar behind Hannah has opened up about her rocky relationship with touring over the years. During an interview with British Vogue in 2023, she shared, 'Singing for hundreds of thousands of people isn't really the thing that I love. There's no connection. There's no safety. It's also not natural. It's so isolating because if you're in front of 100,000 people, then you are alone.' A few years later, she told Apple Music's Zane Lowe that her health ultimately played into the decision because of 'how taxing a physical live performance is.' 'I have this very large polyp on my vocal cord, which has given me a lot of the tone and the texture that has made me who I am,' she explained, 'but it's extremely difficult to perform with because it's like running a marathon with ankle weights on.' She went on to add, 'My voice is super unique because of it, but I do have this Reinke's Edema and I have this large polyp on my cords and I'm not willing to sever it because the chance of waking up from a surgery and not sounding like myself is a probability.' Aside from ^^^ all of that, Miley also revealed she wasn't legally allowed to perform her Hannah Montana songs since the show ended in 2011. During an interview on The Ringer podcast, she shared, 'After being inducted as a Disney Legend, I was given permission to perform those songs in the future, which is pretty cool.' While a tour probably isn't in the cards, the fact that Miley can sing her Hannah tracks changes things. She also has an ongoing relationship with Disney+, where she dropped her Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions) special and her visual album, Something Beautiful. Of course, that's where all her Hannah Montana episodes and movies live, too, and fans are theorizing that a 20th anniversary special of some sort could be in the works. 'A backyard session of Hannah Hits… THAT WOULD BE ICONIC,' one fan commented on a TikTok clip featuring Miley's interview with Ryan Seacrest. Someone else suggested a potential reunion episode with the show's original cast, while another suggested Miley should rip a page out of Taylor Swift's book, writing, 'A HANNAH MONTANA ERAS TOUR THAT'S FILMED AND PUT INTO THEATERS SINCE SHE CAN'T TOUR I BEG OF YOU.' Disney has yet to weigh in on any of these potential celebrations, but while we bust out our sequined outfits and dust off our blonde wigs, let us remind Miley and the House of Mouse that we have grown-up money to fuel childhood dreams!

The hilarious lunch order that sums up firstborn vs. secondborn vibes

There are two types of girls in this world. One quietly orders her Wendy's salad with the precision of a tiny food critic: 'Um, a salad. It has, well, of course, lettuce, um and cheese, tomato… onion, and I believe that's it. And egg. Oh yeah, egg.' The other? Shouts her order with full-throttle confidence: 'CHICKEN, CHICKEN AND CHICKEN!' This viral TikTok from @shan040891, which has over 33 million views, is a funny family moment that highlights how kids develop their individuality and express their personalities, even in everyday moments like ordering lunch. The comment section exploded with joy and recognition. 'Perhaps a salad for the lady? Perhaps not? 'CHICKEN, CHICKEN , CHICKEN, CHICKEN' ,' wrote @KareNN. ' Definition of 1st daughter vs 2nd daughter ,' joked @Elise Fellerman. Related: Toddler gives viral crumpet order—and mom's calm response wins the internet Small choices, big growth Whether it's a meal, an outfit, or a bedtime story, when kids make choices, they're practicing autonomy, a vital skill for healthy development. According to The American Academy of Pediatrics, encouraging independence early helps children build confidence, self-regulation, and problem-solving skills that will serve them for life. This video taps into familiar 'firstborn vs. secondborn' vibes, with the careful, detail-loving first child contrasted against the loud-and-proud second. These are playful stereotypes, though; every kid is different, shaped by temperament, environment, and how they're raised. Letting kids order their own food—even if it's a salad with seven ingredients or a chicken chant shouted six times—helps them know their choices and opinions matter. Related: Researchers find a little childhood independence can reduce kids' anxiety Celebrating each child's unique voice Kids come with all kinds of personalities. Some are quiet and thoughtful, others loud and full of energy. Trying to fit every child into the same 'well-behaved' mold means missing out on the unique ways they show who they really are. Birth order might influence some traits but doesn't tell the whole story. Every child is shaped by their own mix of temperament, experiences, and environment. When parents notice and appreciate these differences, even in small everyday moments, they help their kids feel truly seen and valued for who they are. How to nurture autonomy at home Offer daily choices: Whether it's what to wear or what snack to eat, simple options give kids a sense of control. Listen carefully: Show your child you respect their preferences, even if they don't match your own. Model confident communication: Speak clearly and kindly about your own feelings and choices. Accept imperfection: Learning independence is messy and involves plenty of mistakes — and that's okay. The bottom line As parents, the greatest gift we can give is space for children to find their own voices, whether loud, soft, detailed, or bold. It's in these imperfect, hilarious moments that their true personalities shine. Next time you're at the drive-thru, remember every order is more than just food; it's a step toward independence, identity, and self-assurance. And that's absolutely worth celebrating. James Cameron Wants to Do an ‘Avatar' Animated Anthology Movie

The lush new Avatar: Fire and Ash trailer just dropped today—the movie's in theaters December 19—but James Cameron is already thinking about what's next for Pandora. Not just Avatar 4 and beyond; though the films are famously on the cutting edge of motion-capture technology, Cameron would like to dig deeper into their world using a more traditional form of animation. Speaking to Empire Magazine, Cameron revealed he's had conversations with Disney about further expanding the reach of stories revolving around Pandora. 'I said, 'Look, I want to do an animated anthology series that's essentially in the world, but stories that you wouldn't have expected from that world.' There might even be an animated feature in there—it might be a feature for streaming, or a theatrical feature.' He pointed to The Animatrix, the 2003 animated anthology film set in the world of The Matrix, as an inspiration. '[It's a great example] for how we can add texture and baroque detail to the world of Avatar,' he said, with 'backstory on characters and tangential stuff that happened off-camera within the movies. Who first landed on Pandora? The first expedition. You could go anywhere you want.' As exciting as that sounds, Cameron isn't ready to predict a release date this early in the process. 'We haven't done much with that yet. We're still gathering our stories and that sort of thing … I've got to find the boutique filmmakers, the animators, that want to do it.' Considering how popular Avatar is—and how enticingly rich a canvas Pandora would provide—it doesn't seem like it'll be too hard for Cameron to round up the talent for an animated anthology. He'll just have to find the time to do it. Would you be interested in an Animatrix-style Avatar animated story? Want more io9 news?
