Conor McGregor's latest fight update has convinced absolutely nobody

The Irishman has not fought since losing to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 four years ago - but it seems as if McGregor's return is edging nearer
Conor McGregor appears to be gearing up for a stunning UFC comeback - but fans are not convinced at all.

The 37-year-old has not fought since his defeat to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021. He was scheduled to make a comeback last year at UFC 303 against Michael Chandler, but had to withdraw due to an injury sustained during training.

Many fans have given up hope of seeing the former dual-weight UFC champion back in the Octagon. However, over recent months, McGregor has been dropping hints about a potential blockbuster comeback. The 'Notorious' has shared numerous videos of himself training hard in preparation for a fight.

Despite the regular training footage, one crucial element was missing - a recorded drug test. It appears that McGregor has hardly been tested since his cancelled bout with Chandler, reports All Out Fighting.
On Tuesday evening, he posted a series of videos and photos showing him having blood taken and providing a urine sample to testers. "I gave my first blood test that is what the plaster is on my shoulder," McGregor captioned a video of himself breathing into the camera. "I am ECSTATIC! I'm in SHAPE! #illtakeyourheadoffforreal #fullgrown @ufc #TheBig20."
He also shared a photo of a blood testing kit on his Instagram story, along with images of his blood and urine samples being taken. In one snap, he can be seen holding a cup of his sample. "I p*** excellence," he said. In a subsequent comment, he mentioned "blood tester on my yacht," before adding: "Blood from the shoulder."
Despite the positive signs, fans are just not convinced at all. "I won't believe he's back until he's in the cage and the bell rings," one fan wrote. Another posted: "He's not coming back," while a third replied: "Highly unlikely." Another fan commented: No he ain't. The fighting world has moved on." Another fan replied: "It's gotten to the point were I don't even care anymore & I was like his biggest fan."
Recently, US president Donald Trump stunned the nation when he unveiled his plans to host a UFC event at the White House next year. McGregor himself is eager to compete at the event. It appears that the 37-year-old has everything planned out as he aims for two more UFC fights before transitioning to bare-knuckle boxing. This information comes from his business partner Dave Feldman - who is the president of BKFC, a promotion co-owned by McGregor.

Feldman disclosed that the Irishman has even re-entered the UFC testing pool. In a chat with Ariel Helwani, Feldman confirmed McGregor's plan to fight next year. "He's got two fights left on his contract. He's got to get right," he said.
"The whole world is waiting. Is he going to get in shape and fight? He told me in person, he whispered in my ear, he said, 'I'm in the testing pool. I'm getting ready to make my comeback. I'm going to fight on that big card, then I'm going to have another fight, and then we can talk.'"
When is Conor McGregor's next fight?
Following Trump's announcement of plans to stage a UFC event at the White House, numerous fighters quickly voiced their eagerness to compete on the historic card - McGregor among them.

In a social media post, the 37-year-old wrote: "Happy 4th of July, USA. Excited with President Trump announcing a UFC fight event at the White House! I would be honoured! Count me in!!" UFC chief Dana White appears enthusiastic about the concept after McGregor shared a private conversation with the 56-year-old. The Irishman sent the UFC boss several voice messages - apparently concerning the White House event - prompting White to respond: "I love it!".
McGregor reinforced his stance during a recent BKFC event, declaring: "It's looking like I'm headed to the Oval Office again. That's where I'm headed next." White recently suggested that the 'Notorious' could feature alongside former heavyweight champion Jon Jones - who has emerged from retirement mere days after stepping away from the sport.
"McGregor has gotten himself to a point where he is and will be, whether he stops fighting or not, one of the biggest superstars in sports, period. He's gotten to a level of success in his life where he has to, I think, be motivated by something," White told the Full Send podcast.

UFC fight descends into bloodbath as both fighters are left unrecognizable in Las Vegas

UFC stars Chris Duncan and Mateusz Rebecki were left unrecognizable after their co-main event descended into a bloodbath on Saturday night. The lightweight stars faced off at UFC Vegas 108 and made sure to give fight fans their money's worth as they viciously battled throughout their three-round bout. Heading into the fight, Scottish star Duncan was the bookie's underdog but you'd be forgiven for thinking otherwise given Rebecki's state by the end of the fight. The Polish fighter was left disfigured, bloody and bruised after being on the receiving end of a striking clinic from his Scottish counterpart. It was enough to earn Duncan a unanimous decision victory, however, some would argue that the Scottish star hardly 'won' given the brutal damage he also suffered. The 32-year-old had nasty cuts across his face - including one deep gash right below his left eye that appeared to cause him some concern during the fight. However, in the end, Duncan battled through and it was Rebecki who wore the scars of defeat upon his face come the final bell. Notably, Rebecki's right eye had become incredibly swollen throughout the fight and the Polish star was hardly able to see out of it by the final round. The judges scored it 29-28, 29-28, 30-27 in Duncan's favor, which saw him extend his professional MMA record to 14-2 - in one of the biggest upsets of the night. The bout was so thrilling that it caught the attention of a number of prominent names within the UFC. Recently retired star Dustin Poirier wrote: 'Bravo men!! What a WAR!! You both should be proud'. Though it may be hard to believe, prior to their fight in Vegas, Duncan and Rebecki were teammates and both trained with American Top Team. Speaking ahead of the bout, Rebecki revealed: 'For me, it's difficult. We live together. He lived behind my wall. It's a funny situation because nobody in the world has that situation. 'You have teammate and an opponent in a place where you live. It's hard for your mind, but you can be better because you see how he trained. 'If you rest, your opponent go to training. When I see he go training and running, I want to do more. A couple minutes more running or go earlier to sleep. 'Do more than him. It's motivation. Stressful of course, but I didn't want to fight with him because he is my teammate.' In the end, it wasn't meant to be for Rebecki on the night and the pre-fight favorite picked up another loss - moving his record to 20-3. The gruesome scenes comes just a week after one fighter was left with gruesome injuries at UFC Abu Dhabi. UFC fighter Mohammad Yahya suffered a horrifying eye injury which saw it swell up to the size of a tennis ball after a brutal beatdown from Steven Nguyen. The 32-year-old knocked down his rival six times, smashing the record for total number of knockdowns in a single fight in the championship's history. The previous record of five was shared by Jeremy Stephens (who defeated Gilbert Melendez in 2017) and Forrest Petz (who defeated Sammy Morgan in 2006).

Man Utd outcast Alejandro Garnacho reacts to Chelsea transfer link

Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has appeared to endorse a transfer to Chelsea this summer with his latest activity on Instagram. Garnacho wants to leave United this summer but is keen to remain in the Premier League and join a Champions League club, which makes Chelsea favourites for his signature. The Argentina international fell out with Ruben Amorim at the end of last season and has been omitted from the club's pre-season tour of the United States. United are open to selling Garnacho and would be willing to accept a £40m transfer fee for the 21-year-old after initially asking for £70m in the January window when both Chelsea and Napoli were interested. Garnacho, meanwhile, has made his feelings clear on his preferred move as he liked Fabrizio Romano's Instagram post on Saturday night which stated that he remains on Chelsea's shortlist alongside RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons. 'Garnacho remains on the list for later in August, there are no talks now… but Chelsea keep his name on list. 'Xavi Simons and Garnacho are both targets if players upfront leave, not alternative but both high on the list.
