Black Ops 7 leak hints omni-directional movement is about to level up again

Daily Mirror27-06-2025
A new Call of Duty Black Ops 7 leak has seemingly revealed that wingsuits are set to make a return in the hugely anticipated shooter, in a new 20v20 mode called Skirmish.
Black Ops 7 is eagerly awaited, but a recent leak suggests some significant new additions to the series' multi-directional movement arsenal.
The unveiling of Black Ops 7 during this year's Summer showcase period was unexpected, not because we weren't anticipating a new Call of Duty game, but due to the trailer being exceptionally well-crafted, hinting at a mind-boggling adventure unlike anything we've seen in the franchise before. It was quite startling, but it successfully stirred up excitement for the next chapter of the thought-provoking series.

However, it appears there's more out there than Activision might prefer. With the expectation of a delayed Season 4 Reloaded leaving players without the information they crave, they're eager for any minor detail they can get their hands on – and this could have caused a lot of problems for Activision, as sharp-eyed players have noticed a mistake that the series has made.

It seems Call of Duty has inadvertently leaked a major aspect of its gameplay. New images from Black Ops 7 have emerged, showcasing mechanical armed dogs and highly advanced soldier suits, but what players are most intrigued by is a new mode called Skirmish, which boasts an incredibly unique set of rules.
Time to take flight
CharlieIntel and ModernWarzone have dropped a bombshell with reports of an accidental leak caused by a blunder on the Xbox app, which inadvertently broadcast confidential details about Black Ops 7 to all app users.
According to the leaked message, players can look forward to Skirmish, an all-new 20v20 mode on a sizeable map, where the goal is to "Use your wingsuit to flank and reach objectives before your enemy. The first team to reach the score limit wins!".
Beyond that, another gameplay mode dubbed Overload focuses on battling for control over an EMP device, yet it's the comeback of wingsuits that's snagging headlines. Wingsuits haven't swooped into the Call of Duty battlegrounds since Blackout in Black Ops 4, and considering the significant emphasis placed on a groundbreaking omni-directional movement system in Black Ops 6, wingsuits portend a revolution in free-moving combat strategy.
The reveal throws up tantalising teasers as to what we might anticipate from Black Ops 7, particularly how it will evolve gameplay-wise. Past iterations, such as the incremental tweaks seen between Modern Warfare 2 and 3, make this news all the more thrilling – it hints at possibly bigger leaps in evolution. We'll need patience before any more reveals are offered, but for those keen on taking to the skies, this leak is remarkably promising.

Black Myth Wukong release date for Xbox and when 2024's leading soulslike comes to the Series X

Black Myth: Wukong is finally making its way to Xbox Series X|S, and it's not too far away. Players can get ready to dive in with Wukong and the Monkey King with all of its Chinese mythology and sharp combat. The much-anticipated 2024 soulslike game, Black Myth: Wukong, is finally making its way to Xbox after Game Science's previous claims that the Xbox Series S wasn't robust enough to handle it. ‌ Black Myth: Wukong made quite the impact when it first landed on PlayStation and PC. While there's no shortage of soulslike games for players to delve into as FromSoftware continues to work on its multiplayer-player side quest in Elden Ring Nightreign, something about Wukong's Chinese mythology and responsive controls resonated with players in a way that other games simply couldn't match. This is the same reason why the appearance of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers on Xbox Game Pass was so thrilling. ‌ However, the game's journey was shrouded in controversy within the broader gaming community – the company claimed that the Xbox Series S simply wasn't capable of handling the game, which reportedly delayed the game's debut on Microsoft consoles this console generation. Forbes debunked this claim, reporting that an exclusivity deal was actually in place that the company was keeping under wraps, and Xbox took the flak for it – but now, presumably with the deal having expired (conveniently timed), it's finally arriving on Xbox Series X|S after a long wait. ‌ Despite initial doubts raised by Game Science about the game's compatibility with the Series S, it seems these concerns are now irrelevant. The team has confirmed in a blog post that all issues have been resolved and the game is set to launch on the console. For fans of soulslikes, the wait won't be long. So, when exactly is Black Myth: Wukong hitting Xbox? Here's what you need to know. Black Myth: Wukong Xbox release date The release date for Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox is scheduled for Tuesday, August 19 at 7pm PDT / 10pm EDT, and Wednesday, August 20 at 3am BST. This information comes directly from Game Science, who revealed that the Xbox port of Black Myth: Wukong will be released on Wednesday, August 20 (Hong Kong time), coinciding with the exact time the full game was launched a year ago. The game has a lot to prove to new players on Microsoft consoles, particularly as every other console has had a significant head start. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has already made a positive impact on Xbox Game Pass. Interestingly, the game's arrival on the console exactly a year after its initial release fuels speculation about an exclusivity deal – but for many players, this is no longer a concern. It's time to dive in.

Second Battlefield 6 beta gives you an excuse to revisit with new map and modes

Don't forget: Battlefield 6's beta will open up again very soon and it's bringing new content to justify a return visit. EA's decision to put all its eggs in the Battlefield 6 basket remains a very risky one, but the game's announcement and early multiplayer footage made a strong first impression. That wouldn't have mattered if the open beta, that took place over the weekend, was a dud, but we had a genuinely fun time with it and came away feeling like Battlefield 6 could finally be the Call Of Duty competitor EA clearly wants it to be. We're not the only ones that were impressed, as the beta was pulling in record breaking numbers even during early access. So we're curious to see if the second beta session will prove more popular, especially as it's promising not to just be a repeat of the first one. As a reminder, the second Battlefield 6 beta runs from Thursday, August 14 at 9am BST to Sunday, August 18 at 9am BST and this time there's no early access period. It'll be open to everyone from the get-go. While the second beta will retain all the maps and gameplay modes featured in the first beta, it will also include one new map, called Empire State, and two new modes: Rush and Squad Deathmatch. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. The inclusion of Rush should make long-time fans happy as this is a beloved mode that debuted in the first Battlefield: Bad Company game and has one team trying to arm and destroy targets with explosive charges while another team defends them. It's been popular enough to make frequent appearances throughout the series, but was notably absent in Battlefield 2042, which no doubt contributed to all the many complaints against the game. It's far too early for EA and the various studios working on Battlefield 6 to rest on their laurels, considering the full game isn't out until October 10, but they're bound to be pleased with the reception so far. More Trending Over 9,000 people were queuing to participate in the Steam version of the beta before it even began and while that number has dropped now that it's temporarily ended, SteamDB shows there are still nearly three thousand people patiently waiting for the beta to open up again. Despite Battlefield 6 proving more popular on Steam than Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6, Activision allegedly isn't threatened by Battlefield 6, as it claims the company is confident in the performance of this year's entry, already revealed as Black Ops 7. While Black Ops 7 lacks an exact release date, new entries tend to launch in the autumn, so it could very well drop within just a few weeks of Battlefield 6. Mike Ybarra, former president of Activision subsidiary Blizzard Entertainment, thinks differently, however, going so far as to say that Battlefield 6 will 'boot stomp' Call Of Duty this year and the series will be forced to improve in order to compete. Halo makes its PS5 debut this month with a Helldivers 2 crossover

A very blatant teaser heralds Halo coming to PS5 via a crossover, but a proper game is rumoured to be launching soon too. Years ago, if you had suggested Halo, the former killer app of the Xbox brand, would come to PlayStation consoles, you'd be met with scorn and mockery for your unrealistic expectations. Now though, that's merely a case of when and not if. Microsoft has already ported several big Xbox titles to the PlayStation 5, as part of its multiplatform strategy, with even Gears Of War set to join them this month. While Halo's not formally confirmed, Microsoft has never ruled it out and now a very blatant teaser has all confirmed the franchise's PlayStation debut… albeit in a different game entirely. No, Microsoft hasn't abruptly announced that rumoured remaster of Halo: Combat Evolved. Instead, it looks like a Halo crossover will be added to Helldivers 2 once the game launches on Xbox on August 26. Although it's not an internally developed title, Helldivers 2 was published by Sony when it launched last year, which is why it's only ever been available on PlayStation 5 and PC. This past July, Sony and developer Arrowhead Game Studios announced an Xbox port, one handled by Nixxes (a Sony owned studio responsible for multiple PC ports of PlayStation 5 games) and featuring cross-play, so PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC players can all play together. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. A new trailer for the Xbox launch dropped earlier today and towards the end, a familiar tune Halo fans will recognise plays over footage of a hellpod landing in a city. The music comes from 2009's Halo 3: ODST, so Master Chief himself may not be making a cameo (since he wasn't in Halo 3: ODST), but likely the Spartan armour or weapons from that game will be included with a new Helldivers 2 battle pass. And in case you think any such Halo content will be exclusive to the Xbox version, the Halo tease is also included in the upload for the official PlayStation YouTube account as well. More Trending Given the timing, a more formal confirmation will likely take place during Gamescom next week. Perhaps alongside PlayStation 5 ports of Halo games, if only for the sake of synergy. It's recently been suggested that some kind of Halo PlayStation 5 launch is happening very soon. According to Halo dataminer as reported by insider Rebs Gaming, they claim to have found evidence of two new Halo games; one of which has PlayStation 5 compatibility. This game is apparently already linked to PlayFab, a Microsoft owned platform used for cross-platform play, which could point to it being a rumoured multiplayer Halo game that's said to be in the works at Certain Affinity. Rebs Gaming theorises that any such Halo announcement will probably be saved for the Halo World Championships taking place in October, where Halo Studios itself has promised to share the 'official scoop' of the future of the series.
