The former X Factor contestant Lucy Spraggan has been praised for her bravery by Celebrity SAS fans after she opened up about being sexual assaulted.
Lucy told the Celebrity SAS staff about the attack, which happened in 2012 whilst she was taking part in the X Factor live shows.
The assault happened after a night out celebrating fellow X Factor contestant Rylan Clark's 25th birthday, when the then 21-year-old Lucy headed back to her hotel.
Lucy was then raped by a hotel porter who had used a traceable key card to get into her room – where she was passed out on the bed.
The brave singer shared that the experience was part of the reason she wanted to come on the show.
She started by saying: 'Where I, where I…I've been broken so many times.'
The 34-year-old broke down as she shared the version of events that occurred that horrific night, 'The hotel porter said, 'Oh, I'll give her a hand' and I was paralytic. I passed out on the bed, so I can only tell you this stuff because of the information that I have been told.'
'When that hotel porter came up to my room to do what not-nice people do to vulnerable women,' Lucy added.
The hotel porter was arrested, convicted of rape and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Holding back her tears, Lucy went on to say, 'I woke up and I didn't really know what…Well, I knew what had happened, but I didn't know what to do.'
The artist then pointed out that the hotel porter had used a key card to get into her room, so police were able to track him down and arrest him for raping her.
During the 2012 X Factor live shows, Lucy left unexpectedly, with viewers assuming it was down to a sudden illness.
After her story had come to light, many fans took to X to share their support and how they felt that X-Factor producers failed her as a vulnerable young woman; they should have protected.
'This is heartbreaking to hear what Lucy went through at the X Factor!! That show big time let this young girl down!!' @triciautd said on X.
'Lucy, you brave lady. What a terrible experience. You are a queen,' @oohaoo added.
@gemma_louise_58 shared: 'Lucy Spraggan, made of tough stuff – go all the way girl.'
After trying her best to hold it together whilst re-telling her traumatic memories, Lucy burst into tears, stammering to the Celebrity SAS staff: 'It was seven years of, like, trying to destroy myself. The amount of times I was blackout drunk, again, after that.
'I know that that's what that was, I was just trying to shut everything out, but it felt like everything was snatched away from me in a really brutal way,'
'And I was like 'I haven't done anything wrong'. And so, I was angry about that, I was angry that other people had music careers that were better than mine.'
'Or sad that I felt like I'd missed the boat. It all just got so heavy. I realised, I was like, 'If I carry on doing this, I'm just going to die.'
The celebrity SAS contestant has been pinpointed as a fan favourite to win due to her tough Yorkshire girl attitude.
One fan, @eloquentparrot, took to X to spread the Lucy love: 'They may as well just pass Lucy now and end the series.'
Things are looking up for Lucy as she married her wedding photographer wife, Emilia Smith, in June of last year at a beautiful venue in East Yorkshire – where X Factor's Simon Cowell walked her down the aisle. More Trending
The popular artist has continued to make music since her X Factor stint 13 years ago – with her eighth studio album, Other Sides of the Moon, being released earlier this summer.
Other Sides of the Moon features brand-new songs, Heaven and The Lesson – alongside reimagined classics like Tea and Toast and Butterflies.
Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins continues Sunday at 9pm on Channel 4.

Prisoners 'slaughtered and ate' guinea pigs while working at animal shelter

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Up Next Previous Page Next Page Prisoners are accused of eating guinea pigs they took from an animal shelter in Australia. The abandoned pets had been living at a shelter in Perth, Western Australia, when the inmates allegedly decided to turn some of them into food. Now the Department of Corrective Services is investigating the 'disturbing' allegations, ABC News reports. The low-security prisoners had been doing supervised work in the community as part of the Wooroloo Prison Farm's Section 95 programme when the incident happened, it is thought. The furry pets were allegedly slaughtered and stored in a shed for food The investigation was launched after a prison worker found several guinea pig carcasses stored in a shed outside the facility's perimeter, Western Australia's Corrective Services Commissioner Brad Royce said. He told Nine radio: 'They didn't get them into the prison, they have an external area where we maintain tool sheds, things like that for working in the community.' The prisoners were reportedly told at the shelter that the guinea pigs are 'quite tasty,' leading them to slaughter the animals so that they coudl be cooked at the prison. Royce said: 'Eating guinea pigs is a surprise, but any of my Section 95 prisoners, we don't encourage them eating offsite or give them anything. 'In this case there was a deal done, obviously, that will come up in the investigation.' Hundreds of guinea pigs have been abandoned in the UK in recent years (Picture: Getty Images) All Section 95 programmes have been paused while officials carry out the investigation. Royce said in a statement: 'These allegations are disturbing, and I have asked for an investigation into the actions of Section 95 prisoners and their supervision.' Guinea pigs are a popular pet in the UK. The animal, which is classed as a rodent, can live up to seven years. Their diet consists of timothy, grass, carrots and spinach. Despite their cuddly look, guinea pigs are often abandoned by their owners. More than 1,600 guinea pigs were abandoned between 2021 and the end of August 2023, according to the RSPCA. One animal was found at Canning Town Underground station in London. The pet, which was nicknamed DiscoPig, was discovered sitting in a cage with a note saying 'I need a new owner.' She made the confession on the At Home With The Thomas Brothers podcast, joining her fiance and his two brothers for the latest episode. Lucy explained: "Basically we sleep in separate bedrooms because Ryan is a nightmare sleeper." His brother Adam joked: "He's always trying it on with me," while their sibling and Love Island star Scott quipped: "He always wants a cuddle." They were all left in hysterics, with mum-of-two Lucy saying: "I mean that is annoying..." She continued: "Basically Ryan snores, he sleep talks, he whacks me in his sleep." Ryan cheekily replied: "I weren't asleep darling," leaving them in fits of giggles. TV personality Lucy then explained the reason behind their decision to sleep separately. She said: 'It's just to get a good night's sleep. And that's just become normal now. But sometimes I do sleep with Roman.' When they asked Adam if he and wife Caroline have ever slept apart, the ex Emmerdale star admitted he "couldn't imagine" not sleeping in a bed with his wife. Inside Lucy Mecklenburgh and Ryan Thomas's family trip to Disneyland Paris Although some couples believe sleeping in the same bedroom is important for their relationship, a number of celebrities disagree. Vicky Pattison and her new husband Ercan Ramadan revealed they don't always sleep in the same bedroom together. Joe Swash also confessed that he and Stacey Solomon sleep in different rooms thanks to his busy schedule. Even Richard Madeley and wife Judy Finnigan sleep separately when he has to appear on Good Morning Britain the next day. Speaking to Kate Thornton on her White Wine Question Time podcast, he said: "When I'm doing Good Morning Britain I sleep in the spare room. "I do probably sleep a little bit better in bed with Judy but I'm okay on my own. On the notion of disrupting Judy's rest, he quipped: "I wouldn't think of doing that to Judy. "Apart from anything else, Judy and her sleep, you do not mess with." While comedian Katherine Ryan revealed she doesn't share a bed with her husband – and instead sleeps "like a dog'" at the foot of my kid's bed. EMOTIONAL MOVE In February, Lucy said an emotional goodbye to her home of 11 years. The star shared a video of her packing up her London home after moving to Manchester with Ryan and their children. But as she packed away her things, Lucy shared that she struggled with the memories of the house, which was her first home after moving away from her parents and first renovation. Calling the move 'one of the most emotional weeks of her life' she told her followers: 'I really didn't expect to get so emotional, but I moved out of my home 11 years this week, that's how we spent half term.' 'It was such mixed emotions, because we outgrew this house so long ago,' she continued. 'We've made the big move to Manchester, and we're really happy, but there's so many memories I've hung on to in this house. 'I went from being single, it was my first big renovation project, it was my first real home since moving out my parents, I guess, and I bought both my babies back from hospital here.'

Animation smashes Netflix record in days becoming second most-watched film

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Netflix may be home to countless blockbusters, but a new contender is quickly climbing to the top of the all-time leaderboard. This animated film has captured the imaginations of viewers across the world and is currently sitting at 184.6 million views. That puts it just behind Red Notice – and if it's momentum holds, it could dethrone it in just a matter of weeks. The 2021 action-comedy, featuring Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot, seemed untouchable – until now. Since premiering on June 20, KPop Demon Hunters has pulled in over 20 million views per week. Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your show in the link we'll send you so we can get TV news tailored to you. In the most recent weekly rankings from August 4–10, it picked up another 25.9 million views. It ranked just behind My Oxford Year, but beat out anticipated titles like Happy Gilmore 2, Gladiator II, and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. The film blends KPop, Korean folklore, and fantasy action into a neon-lit, high-energy spectacle that's unlike anything else on Netflix. It follows fictional pop group HUNTR/X – global idols by day, demon slayers by night – as they face off against the Saja Boys, a rival boy band hiding a dark secret. Rotten Tomatoes critics have given the film a glowing 97% score, with many praising it for its originality, emotional depth, and sheer entertainment value. Voice talent includes Arden Cho, Ahn Hyo-seop, Ji-young Yoo, Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Jeong, Lee Byung-hun, and many more familiar names. The animation style is bold and vibrant, the soundtrack is contagious, and the choreography has already gone viral on TikTok. The song Golden from the movie even topped the Billboard Global 200, marking a major moment for an animated act. It's managed to cross genres, languages, and age groups – drawing in KPop stans, animation lovers, and curious Netflix browsers alike. Week after week, its viewership has held strong, making it the only movie in Netflix history to maintain such numbers so consistently over eight straight weeks. That consistency is what makes this climb so significant – and so threatening to Red Notice's long-standing record. KPop Demon Hunters now needs around 46 million more views to claim the title of Netflix's most-watched movie ever. Netflix hasn't confirmed plans for a sequel just yet, but fans are already demanding one – plus merch, a series, and possibly even a live-action spin-off. Fans have praised the new animation for creating a new generation of K-pop fans – whilst also bringing back older generations. @wisewyss on X said: 'The more the merrier, new KPop fans will come of this.' 'My love for KPop was revived thanks to this movie,' @ravenPH added. The film has also reignited conversation around what animated movies can be – especially when paired with global music trends like K-pop. And if there was ever doubt about the worldwide power of Korean storytelling, this movie silenced it. While most of Netflix's top movies come from Hollywood studios with action-heavy formulas, KPop Demon Hunters proves that creativity and cultural flair can be just as powerful. More Trending It's a massive win for Korean creators, for animated storytelling, and for viewers looking for something fresh. With just a few weeks to go before it potentially claims the number one spot, all eyes are on HUNTR/X. They came to slay demons, now they might slay the Netflix record books too. KPop Demon Hunters is available to stream on Netflix now. Got a story?
