7-Foot Snake Halts Play During Sri Lanka Vs Bangladesh ODI In Colombo: WATCH
Security and maintenance crews acted swiftly to safely remove the reptile, and play resumed after a brief delay. No players or officials were harmed.
A 'Naagin Derby' Moment Reignited
The bizarre interruption quickly went viral, with fans across platforms dubbing it another chapter in the long-standing 'Naagin Derby', a cheeky term referencing the sometimes tense and theatrical cricketing rivalry between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
The term gained popularity during the 2018 Nidahas Trophy when Bangladeshi players performed a 'Naagin dance' celebration after a dramatic win against Sri Lanka. The snake's surprise appearance in Colombo brought back those memories, leading to a flurry of memes, jokes, and edited videos online.

Donnarumma to leave PSG after being excluded from Super Cup squad
Just hours after being left out of Paris Saint-Germain's squad for Wednesday's UEFA Super Cup final against Tottenham, star goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma posted a message saying he is leaving the club. When PSG named its squad for the match earlier on Tuesday, goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, who recently joined from Lille for just over 40 million euros ($46 million), was included along with backup goalies Matvei Safonov and Renato Marin. Chevalier's arrival was expected to signal Donnarumma's departure, with the 26-year-old Italy international unlikely to accept being No. 2 if coach Luis Enrique decided so. Donnarumma then posted a message in Italian, English and French on his Instagram account saying he had effectively been forced out. Unfortunately, someone has decided that I can no longer be part of the group and contribute to the team's success," he wrote. "I am disappointed and disheartened. He bade farewell to fans ahead of the new season. I hope to have the opportunity to look the fans at the Parc des Princes in the eyes one more time and say goodbye as it should be done, Donnarumma said. I will always carry with me the memory of all the emotions, the magical nights and of you, who made me feel at home. — GIANLUIGI DONNARUMMA (@donnarumma) August 12, 2025 Donnarumma did not name the person who no longer wants him in the squad, but in a pre-match news conference PSG coach Luis Enrique explained why he had signed Chevalier. These are always difficult decisions to make, I know. I can only say good things about Gigio (Gianluigi). He's one of the best players in his position, without a doubt, and he's even better as a person, Luis Enrique said. We were looking for a different type of goalkeeper. And I repeat, it's always difficult to make a decision like that. It is thought that Chevalier's superior passing from the back which has been a noticeable shortcoming for Donnarumma was a crucial factor in the decision. However, Donnarumma was arguably the best goalkeeper in Europe last season, playing a key role in PSG's Champions League success with inspired shot-stopping in the knockout stages. He also starred for Italy when it won the European Championship in 2021. But with one year left on his contract, Donnarumma had refused to sign a new contract and PSG was unlikely to let him leave for free at the end of the season. He has been strongly linked with a move to Premier League big-spender Manchester City, with Manchester United also reportedly interested. PSG experienced the same situation two seasons ago with Kylian Mbapp, who ended up joining Real Madrid on a free transfer after refusing to take up the option of a one-year contract extension. Donnarumma was in a similar position to Chevalier when he joined the club after helping Italy win the Euros. He replaced Keylor Navas as No. 1, even though Navas had been outstanding for PSG the previous season. Donnarumma's arrival at PSG was seen by fans as hugely unfair on Navas and a clumsy move by the club. Now the situation has come full circle for the Italy keeper, who finds himself in much the same position as Navas was. If he has to go, then we thank him from the bottom of our hearts, PSG captain Marquinhos said. He has been a great leader all these years. Seeing Donnarumma leave would upset me. PSG begins its league campaign at Nantes on Aug. 17.

Dale Steyn Drops F-Bomb As Dewald Brevis Smashes Record-Shattering T20I Century
South Africa's very own 'Baby AB', Dewald Brevis, has matured into a world-class batter, especially in T20 cricket. The young middle-order star helped his team level the T20I series 1-1 against Australia with a commanding 53-run win, thanks to a sensational hundred. Brevis became the youngest South African batter to score a T20I century and the second-fastest to achieve the feat for the Proteas in Men's T20Is, finishing unbeaten on 125. Seeing Brevis prove several doubters wrong, South Africa pace legend Dale Steyn dropped the F-bomb on social media while hailing the 22-year-old batter. 'Brevis is the real f***** deal,' Steyn wrote on X (formerly Twitter), as the internet went ga-ga over Brevis' performance in the 2nd T20I against Australia. Brevis is the real fucken deal. — Dale Steyn (@DaleSteyn62) August 12, 2025 Brevis' ton, which came in merely 41 balls, which puts him only behind David Miller's 35-ball century against Bangladesh in 2017. Australia made a good start after opting to bowl, restricting South Africa's early scoring. Ben Dwarshuis struck first, removing Ryan Rickelton in the fourth over, before Glenn Maxwell added two more quick wickets, leaving South Africa reeling at 57-3 by the end of the seventh over. Dewald Brevis turned the game on its head for the Proteas with a stunning unbeaten 125 off just 56 balls, with 12 fours and eight sixes to his name. The 22-year-old forged a 126-run partnership with Tristan Stubbs and went on to record the highest individual score in T20Is by a South African batter. While South Africa lost batters in the later overs, Brevis kept going from his end, helping South Africa go past 200. His knock was also the highest score against Australia in T20Is, surpassing Ruturaj Gaikwad's unbeaten 123 in 2023. His innings, which is also the highest individual score in T20Is on Australian soil, lifted the tourists to a formidable total of 218. South Africa carried their momentum into the second innings, striking early to remove key batters: Travis Head and Cameron Green, putting Australia on the back foot. Tim David maintained his fine form from the first T20I with another brisk half-century, but Kagiso Rabada managed to draw a loose shot from David, bringing his innings to an end. Alex Carey offered some resistance as the hosts tried to make a comeback late in the game, but the target ultimately proved too steep for Australia, as they fell to a 53-run defeat -- their second-biggest loss in a home T20I. The series-deciding final T20I will be played in Cairns on August 16.
