Dy CM threatens legal action against Tejashwi over ‘false allegations'

intensified on Wednesday, with deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha lashing out at the opposition over allegations related to the voter list revision and his educational qualifications.
He also threatened legal action against those who made false allegations against him. Describing himself as the Hanuman of NDA, Sinha said, "I will not let the alliance suffer at any cost. The time has come to teach a lesson to the sons of Shakuni and Duryodhana. The answer will be given in the language they want."

. "I fought against your father and now will fight against you, too," he challenged Tejashwi.
Tejashwi had alleged that Sinha was a voter in his constituency Lakhisarai and as well as in Patna with different dates of birth mentioned. Sinha clarified that his name has been removed from the voter list in Patna and showed his degrees to prove his age as 58.
Sinha alleged that those who kept giving jobs by taking money and land were raising questions on his educational degree. "I have both the degrees. If RJD has the courage, they should also make their degrees public," he said.

Sinha said those who did not believe in the Constitution and democracy were talking about boycotting the elections. "Those born with a golden spoon can never be well-wishers of the public," he said as Tejashwi, in the morning reiterated that the opposition will think over boycotting the coming assembly elections after consulting the people during his 'Vote Adhikar Yatra' with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from August 17.
He alleged that there was no point in contesting elections if the Election Commission continued to act on behalf of the BJP.

BEST credit society served notices ahead of polls
MUMBAI: The BEST Employees' Credit Society, touted as a symbol of the much-hyped, recent alliance between the Shiv Sena (UBT) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), has been served notices by the state government and the police over alleged irregularities in the cooperative. (Raju Shinde/ HT Photo) The BEST Kamgar Sena, a wing of the Sena (UBT) currently in control of the credit society, says the move is a ploy by the BJP-led Mahayuti government to muddy the waters ahead of the August 18 elections in the credit cooperative. The poll will pit the Sena (UBT)-MNS alliance against Mahayuti coalition partners, the BJP and Shiv Sena, both on the back foot in these elections. More critically, the BEST Kamgar Sena sees the move as an attempt to undermine Sena (UBT)-MNS unity, the first formal alliance between the two political parties led by the Thackeray cousins, Uddhav and Raj, leaders of the Sena (UBT) and MNS, respectively. For the upcoming polls, the Sena (UBT) will contest 18 of the 21 seats up for grabs, the MNS two seats, and the BEST SC/ST Employees Welfare Association one seat. If the alliance wins the election, the MNS will bag one more post, that of a nominated director. In contrast, the BJP and Shiv Sena led by deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde will be contesting the election as opposition parties. Now, less than a week before the polls, the credit cooperative has been served notices by the state cooperation department and the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police. The first notice, dated August 13, has been served by the divisional joint registrar of co-operative societies in Mumbai. It states, 'As per the complaint application by Vivekanand Ghag and Rajendra Gore, under section 89 A of Maharashtra Cooperation Department, deputy registrar Rajendra Gaikwad has been appointed as investigation officer to conduct inquiry of records of society of year 2024-25. Jitendra Chavan will assist him and they will submit an inquiry report by August 29.' The credit society has also received a notice from the EOW, initiating an inquiry into an alleged ₹24-crore irregularity in the cooperative, on a complaint filed by Ghag. Suhas Samant, president of the BEST Kamgar Sena, slammed the Mahayuti government and BJP leaders, alleging that BJP MLC Prasad Lad has instigated the inquiry. 'For years, the BEST Kamgar Sena has been in power in the credit society. This time, however, the Sena (UBT) and MNS have entered into an alliance for the elections, which has upset Mahayuti leaders. Now the society's office-bearers have received notices. BJP MLC Prasad Lad is behind this. They want to create confusion among voters,' he said. 'But in the last audit conducted by a government auditor, the BEST Employees Credit Society received an 'A' grade and this is in the public domain. How can a credit society assigned an A grade be accused of irregularities,' asked Samant. Responding to the allegation, Prasad Lad said an inquiry will be conducted as there were irregularities in the credit cooperative. Government agencies have initiated an inquiry on the basis of a complaint filed by Ghag. The cooperation department is conducting a separate inquiry and the EOW is looking into irregularities of ₹24 crore in the credit society. A day after Wednesday's confrontation over police checkpoints, the blockade has not only persisted, but has now extended. "Even your PDA (Picchda, Dalit Alpsankhyak) narrative is 'namoona' (sample) of that self-interest," Yogi said speaking on floor of UP assembly. In a jibe at SP chief Akhilesh Yadav for his 'PDA' slogan , said it was "Parivar Development Authority". "The vision of opposition was like that of a "frog in a pond" which can't see beyond a limit," he added. He said while the world was witnessing fierce competition, opposition was only limited to its "family". "And you want to take the state in that direction," Yogi said. His remark was sharp retort to opposition benches, which have questioned fulfilment of promises BJP made to people in the last eight years. Adityanath said UP had all resources to develop before 2017. "But the state faced hampered growth because of policy paralysis," he said, stressing decline of UP, which started after 1980, became even more serious after 1990. "Once a prosperous state, UP became a BIMARU state," he said, stressing policies framed by then state govts lacked political will and transparency. He said though the national GDP of India was less than 2% of global scale, the country was sixth-largest economy in the world. "It slipped to 10th place in 1960 and 11th position between 1980 and 2014," he said, adding, situation changed in 2014 when PM Modi assumed office. "India bounced back to 7th position in 2017, 5th position in 2024, and in 2025 it is 4th biggest economy," he said. "This shows meaning of 'Vision document'," he said. Likewise, he said UP's contribution to national GDP went down from 14% in 1960-61 to just 8% in 2016-17. Yogi said per capita income, which was equivalent to the national average in 1947, plunged to one-third. "Exports were only Rs 84,000 crore and state was dependent on Central taxes (around 56%)," he said. He said state GSDP grew to Rs 13 lakh crore between 1947 and 2017. "But between 2017 and 2025 it has touched a mark of Rs 35 lakh crore," he said. Similarly, UP's contribution to national GDP has grown from 8% to 9.5%. Yogi said economic growth rate of UP was better than national average. The state's per capita income too grew from Rs 43,000 per annum to Rs 1.2 lakh. He said in centenary year of Independence, UP aims to take the PCI beyond the national average. Exports have grown from Rs 84,000 crore to 1.86 lakh crore, and the state budget has jumped from around 3 lakh crore to over Rs 8 lakh crore. He said state dependence on Central taxes reduced from 56% to 46%. "UP is no more BIMARU, but a revenue surplus state," Yogi said. Spelling out various measures initiated for the agricultural sector, Yogi said state accounted for only 10% of total cultivable land but contributed over 14% of the national need for foodgrains. Yogi slammed opposition for staking claim to development projects, saying UP was fast becoming an expressway state in past eight years and hosting 16 domestic and four international airports. He said from 1947 to 2017, power sector struggled with limited capacity and irregular supply, and total production capacity was only 12,000 MW, insufficient to meet needs of industry, agriculture, and domestic consumption, especially in rural areas where irrigation, education, and small industries were affected by no electricity. Govt is successfully meeting the demand that has more than doubled, he said. From 2017 to 2025, power generation capacity increased by 8,000 MW, due to which the total capacity has now increased to more than 20,000 MW.
