Fans Choose Ava Max's ‘Lovin Myself' as This Week's Favorite New Music
In a poll published Friday (May 30) on Billboard, music fans chose the pop singer's latest single as their favorite new release of the past week.

'Lovin Myself' brought in 57% of the vote, beating out new releases from artists like Tate McRae ('Just Keep Watching'), Miley Cyrus (Something Beautiful), Lorde ('Man of the Year'), Leon Thomas (MUTT Deluxe: HEEL), Yeule (Evangelic Girl Is a Gun), and others.
'Lovin Myself' doubles down on Max's streak of self-empowerment, with the singer declaring, 'I don't need nobody, I'm lovin' myself!' as warm synths rain down on her voice.
Max revealed in early May that her third album, Don't Click Play, will be arriving on Aug. 22. The forthcoming set features lead single 'Lost Your Faith.'
The album cover sees Max braving the heat within a triangle of fire, her hands gripping its burning edges — perhaps a visual metaphor for the fire-emoji energy she wants listeners to feel when they hit play. The triangle itself resembles the familiar symbol for a play button. In April, she directed fans to DontClickPlayOnAvaMax.com, a site disguised as an online petition that cleverly teased an unreleased track.
Don't Click Play follows 2023's Diamonds & Dancefloors (which reached No. 34 on the Billboard 200) and 2020's debut Heaven & Hell (which peaked at No. 27 and featured her breakthrough single 'Sweet But Psycho,' a top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2018).
Placing second in the poll was Tate McRae's 'Just Keep Watching', which received nearly 15% of the vote. The fast-moving club track is featured in the F1 film soundtrack.

Tate McRae is one hell of a performer. Her stage presence has leveled up with three albums and several hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart under her belt, and the proof is in her Miss Possessive Tour. While Tate has the range to sing heart-wrenching ballads like 'Chaotic' and 'You Broke Me First,' she's also known for her pro-dancing background and steamy hits like 'Sports Car' and 'Greedy.' For those high-choreography performances, she's adopted an alter ego called Tatiana to step into the zone of Main Pop Girl. However, she fully stepped out of Tatiana mode during a recent performance in Edmonton, Canada, on August 7, when she accidentally kicked her shoe off while dancing. According to fan-captured footage, her black heel flung to the side of the stage in the middle of her 'Exes' choreo, prompting her to stand still and say, 'What the fuck?!' Tate laughed it off as she decided to take off her other shoe and lock back in to becoming Tatiana. As the fan wrote, 'our diva continues,' because the show must go on, people! This isn't the first time this has happened to Miss Tate. During another performance at the same show, she lost her shoe while hitting her marks and had to search for them in between songs. 'Hold on, fuck the music. I need to put my shoes back on,' she said, adding, 'Who took them? No, one sec!' The 'Revolving Door' singer then ran across the stage trying to track down the pair of shoes. 'Okay, we got it back together. Sorry about the malfunction, guys,' she laughed, adding that she tends to lose her footwear while performing in Canada. 'This always seems to happen to me in Alberta. Hometown curse, I guess.' Tate is a total pro in the thick of her Miss Possessive Tour, which kicked off in the U.K. on June 22. She's currently making her way through North America, hitting cities from Saint Paul to Orlando, until it wraps at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles this November.

There's A New ‘KPop Demon Hunters' Song You Haven't Heard
Golden by HUNTR/X from the Netflix animated film KPop Demon Hunters just hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, a first for any KPop group. Some have said that this doesn't 'count' because the group is fictional, but there are obviously very real voices behind those characters. And one of them just released a new KPop Demon Hunters song. Kind of. Rei Ami is an American singer, rapper and voice actress originally from South Korea, and she is the singing voice of the HUNTR/X rapper Zoey in the film, as each character had both a speaking voice actor (in Zoey's case, Ji-young Yoo) and a singing voice for their tracks. On social media, Rei Ami responded to a request from a fan about an apparently teased diss track from Zoey targeting the Saja Boys, wondering if she could do a full version. And she did. The track, which doesn't have an official name, was written by Rei Ami, Reibes and Hunters. The beat is BMTJ via YouTube. She says it was compiled via Instagram and Tik Tok Live over the course of two days. Here it is: The track is about 1:20, which is obviously shorter than most of the other songs from HUNTR/X and the rest on the official soundtrack, but despite its low-key production, easily sounds like something that could have shown up in the film. KPop Demon Hunters continues to break record after record, arguably its biggest being yesterday, topping the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time for a Kpop group with the track Golden. But besides that? While there are rumblings behind the scenes about what Netflix has planned next for KPop Demon Hunters, like a trilogy of films and maybe even a live-action remake and a stage show, nothing official has been announced yet (Update: They've just announced a sing-along theater event). The movie is such a huge hit it is probably hard to process and figure out next steps, given that they've clearly given birth to an enormous franchise suddenly out of nowhere. 'Golden' from 'KPop Demon Hunters' tops Billboard Hot 100

Photo courtesy of Netflix Aug. 12 (UPI) -- The song "Golden" from the animated film KPop Demon Hunters topped the Billboard Hot 100 list for the week of Aug. 16. The movie, which arrived on Netflix in June, follows the fictional K-pop group HUNTR/X as they sing to sold-out stadiums and moonlight as demon slayers. In the feature, the band features Rumi (Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong) and Zoey (Ji-young Yoo). EJAE, Audrey Nuna and REI AMI are the real-life singers who perform "Golden" and the other songs in the film. "Golden" has been streamed more than 3 billion times globally. The song describes the process of overcoming self-doubt and stepping into purpose. "I'm done hiding, now I'm shining like I'm born to be," they sing. May Hong told UPI that it was "a pleasure" to see the music braided into the acting. "Then you're like whoa, I'm even cooler than I thought," she said.
