Brookside child star unrecognisble 22 years after soap exit and where you have seen him recently
Channel 4 soap Brookside is finally returning to television screens twenty years after the show was axed, but there is a totally unexpected twist.
As part of Hollyoaks ' 30th anniversary celebration this year, there'll be a special episode combining with Brookside. Running from 1982 to 2003, Brookside was Sir Phil Redmond's first soap and laid the foundation for the kind of storytelling Hollyoaks would later adopt.
Brookside star Jack McMullen made his name over two decades ago when he played Josh McLoughlin in the soap. The character was famously born after a one-night stand between Mike Dixon (Paul Byatt) and his stepmother, Bev (Sarah White).
The messy situation escalated when Ron Dixon (Vince Earl) wanted to adopt the youngster, but his son Mike prevented it.
Eventually, Ron and Bev got married, and Josh took the Dixon surname, before the trio moved away to start a new life.
After waving goodbye to Brookside in 2003, child star Jack went on to carve out a very successful acting career in television.
The actor, now 34, landed the role of Tigger Johnson in the iconic kids' show Grange Hill, which he starred in for four years.
Two years later, he landed another regular part in a major drama, this time as Finn Sharkey in the BBC's Waterloo Road.
In more recent years, he's bagged a number of hard-hitting roles, including jail drama Time, and the dramatisation of real-life tragedy Little Boy Blue.
Most recently, he starred as Jamie Phelan in the hit BBC drama This City Is Ours opposite Sean Bean and James Nelson-Joyce. In 2023, Jack starred as Lewis in the Apple TV series Hijack, which stars Idris Elba in the main role.
Jack's has also starred in The F1rst Team, The Souvenir, Le Mans '66, Screw, and Dead Shot. Will Jack return to Brookside for the forthcoming Hollyoaks crossover?
The special episode of Brookside will be filmed on location at what used to be Brookside Close in Liverpool, a residential area.
It's not just the location making an appearance; some classic characters are set to return.
It's currently unconfirmed if Jack will step back into Josh's shoes 22 years leaving the show.

The former Love Island star said: "I can't see, on Christmas Day, me picking the baby, me saying 'Merry Christmas', I can't see that going to lead me to win a fight or not. Tommy said: "20 minutes out of my day on Christmas," to which John added: "The greats don't do it." "And obviously he's just an old school fella and the way the world is today, you know, even I find it hard to live in the world sometimes today, with the amount of bull**** that's going on." The social media influencer was missing from the launch of his brand new reality TV series which raised eyebrows despite the pair being back together and claiming to be at "they're happiest". Molly also failed to mark the event on social media and shared no posts to support Tommy and his show. MISSING MOLLY But The Sun understands that Molly skipped the event as she was keen to not "overshadow" the launch of Tommy's programme and let him have his own time in the spotlight following their up and down 12 months. A source told The Sun: "Molly is keen to keep a low profile at the moment. "She is obviously back with Tommy but it's his night and doesn't want to overshadow it. "It's been a funny time for Molly - she's very thick skinned but she's had a lot to deal with and isn't used to backlash." JOSIE Gibson looked absolutely horrified as The Wheel contestant gambles £82k on a tricky geography question. Michael McIntyre returned to the airwaves to host another edition of the popular BBC game show. 7 7 7 On The Wheel, seven celebrity 'experts' attempt to guide three contestants to a prospective fortune. Josie's area of expertise was women's fashion as she appeared alongside the likes of Anton Du Beke, Tony Bellew, and Steph McGovern. Other stars to also feature include Richard Osman on Crime Fiction and Helen Flanagan on Peppa Pig. However, the former Big Brother winner was the worst performing expert on that episode of the show, as she gave the fewest correct answers. In the final round, contestant Tiago chose to try to win extra money by picking the This Morning face as his expert, with a potential prize pot of £82,000. The three question categories he was given were Monsters, Traditions and States. Unfortunately for the duo, the wheel landed on 'States', meaning he would have to answer a geography-themed question about Australia. Michael asked: "Which Australian state has the largest land area, Queensland, Tasmania, South Australia or Western Australia?" The contributor started mulling the different answers, as Josie explained: "Ooh goodness me! Like, where's the Outback?" When Tiago locked in 'Western Australia ' as his answer at the last second, Josie looked absolutely horrified. The Wheel contestant loses huge jackpot over tricky geography question After he expressed that his initial choice was Tasmania, she gasped: "Oh my god are you doing that? Are you saying Western Australia for real?" When he questioned if it was wrong, she exclaimed once again: "Is that the Outback? Where's the outback?" Sinking back in her studio chair, she held up her hands in frustration as she added: "I've just come back from there! "Oh man this is so bad! Honestly, this is the end of me for quiz shows! I am so sorry I am not more help .... I can't even!" In the end, the contestant did answer correctly and win the £82,000 prize. After he sarcastically thanked Josie for her input, she couldn't help but giggle at her humorous blunder.
