Oasis fans celebrate after Slide Away proposal at Murrayfield
Shell told BBC Scotland News: "We were just singing along to Slide Away and then next thing I looked over and he was on his knee with a ring in his hand."I could not hear him he was just singing the chorus: 'Now that your'e mine...""He did not need to say 'will you marry me?' it was pretty obvious what he was getting at."Shell said she struggled to focus on the remainder of the concert. She said: "People were saying 'congratulations'. "I kept looking at Dwayne and saying 'what have you done?'"Shell was in her early teens when Oasis were at the peak in the 1990s and never got to see them.Since they split she has been to Noel and Liam solo gigs but Friday was her first opportunity to see the Gallagher brothers share the same stage.
Shell met Dwayne when they were neighbours in 2019.The couple have four children from previous relationships and a two-year-old daughter, Mirryn.Shell was moved to learn Dwayne had secretly asked her elder children Courtney, 22, and Kyle, 19, for their mother's hand in marriage. She added: "It is so touching that he thought to speak to them first."It was really considerate."Shell said the couple had discussed marriage but she wasn't expecting the big moment to arrive at a 68,000 sell-out gig.Dwayne said: "We had talked about it previously and I did want to propose."With the gig coming up I thought 'this is the perfect opportunity'."She always said she did not want it done in public!"Dwayne admitted he was nervous ahead of the big moment - as he did not know when the band would play the song.He joked: "I tried to Google 'Oasis set list' on my phone but I couldn't get a signal.""I was on edge but it was the best night ever."The concert was also a poignant occasion for Dwayne, who wore a T-shirt with his late brother's name printed on the back. And he admitted he was emotional when the band played Live Forever, just two songs after his proposal.
Earlier in the evening, the couple enjoyed warm-up sets from Cast and Richard Ashcroft before the crowd were whipped into a frenzy when Underworld's Born Slippy - from the original Trainspotting film - was played over the stadium sound system. Asked about the moment Noel and Liam took to the stage, Shell said: "I think everybody was just ecstatic."The whole stadium was jumping. You could feel the vibrations."She said some fans even left the stands to get on the Murrayfield pitch.Shell added: "Everyone just lost control of themselves."The atmosphere was like no other concert I have been to."The couple said they especially enjoyed Noel's rendition of Half The World Away and Liam's "perfect" voice on Cast No Shadow. But Shell said Slide Away has long been a favourite and will now always have a special place in their hearts. She added: "We just relate to those lyrics."We always have sing songs in the car."
Ahead of the proposal Dwayne tipped off a steward and a video of the big moment was posted on Instagram on Saturday. The couple were blissfully unaware the footage was gaining traction online until their phones started to light up as they enjoyed some shopping in Edinburgh. It took off to such an extent that they had to phone relatives to break the news, a day ahead of schedule, before they spotted it on social media.Dwayne said: "It has been absolutely surreal."The couple have yet to set a date but when they do tie the knot all bets are off as to what their first dance will be.But Shell joked: "I think we are going to have a bucket hat wedding."

The Burns Project review – Scotland's national poet in all his glory and contradictions
We are sitting around a table in the sedate surroundings of the Georgian House, the Robert Adam-designed townhouse run by the National Trust for Scotland. James Clements, playing the part of Robert Burns, says something about the weather, and suddenly a streak of lightning cuts down the length of the table top. It has a gash down the middle for that very purpose. It is a sign of the attention to detail in Cora Bissett's excellent production. What could have been a by-the-numbers tribute to Scotland's national poet is altogether more subtle, imaginative and contentious. The long, undulating table, designed by Jenny Booth and cleverly lit by Elle Taylor, continues to play an unexpected part: Clements appears from beneath a domed plate cover in a scene of hungover contrition, while a cutlery boat sets sail under its own steam towards the West Indies. Oh yes, the West Indies. One of the inconvenient truths about this people's poet, the man who wrote the egalitarian A Man's a Man for a' That, is that it was only his newfound career as a published writer that stopped him heading to Jamaica to work in the slave trade. Clements's script, drawing on private letters and recently digitised historical archival material, plus the voices of modern commentators, does not gloss over this, nor the poet's womanising. Rather, it presents a rounded picture of a contradictory man who could write tender verse one minute and abandon a pregnant woman the next. Burns is embodied with gusto and rounded Ayrshire vowels by Clements, accompanied by Lisa Rigby, singing sweet renditions of favourites such as Ae Fond Kiss on guitar and shruti box. It works as both a primer to the short life of this farmer turned celebrity and a knotty study of his politics, compromises, artistic enthusiasms and colourful love life. Oasis weigh up offers for huge gigs in 2026 including four Knebworth anniversary shows after success of reunion tour
A huge festival in the US have made an offer to the Gallagher brothers WONDERHAUL Oasis weigh up offers for huge gigs in 2026 including four Knebworth anniversary shows after success of reunion tour JUST weeks after Oasis' sell-out 41-date reunion tour kicked off, I was inundated with calls about what was being lined up next for Noel and Liam Gallagher. According to two of my contacts, the brothers have been offered four huge shows at Knebworth House next year — to mark the 30th anniversary of their two historic concerts there in 1996. 15 Liam and Noel Gallagher, pictured in Edinburgh, have been inundated with offers following the success of their tour Credit: Big Brother Recording If the rockers take up the offer, the shows would see them beating their former foe Robbie Williams' achievement of playing the iconic Hertfordshire venue three times. Another three of my moles then called up at the start of last month — to tell me they'd heard about a possible residency at the Etihad Stadium, home of their beloved Manchester City. Weeks later, the rumours started to build online, with fake posters circulated and fan forums alight with talk of the potential to keep the reunion alive. A well-placed insider, who works for a major promoter, told me: 'I could see all of this happening. 'There is so much on the table but it's whether Noel and Liam want to do it.' Those close to the band tell me Noel and Liam are not considering anything for 2026, with no solid plans or bookings locked in. 'They'll be having a well-earned holiday as soon as this tour finishes later this year,' a source explained. 'As for 2026, they've seen the speculation, they've heard about the offers and they know what the fans want. 'Keep magic going' 'But it's ultimately up for them to decide. 'The Oasis reunion hasn't just been concerts. You can see that it's been a cultural movement. Nothing comes close in recent history to Oasis's shows. Liam Gallagher in fresh foul-mouthed rant at Edinburgh Council during Oasis night two 'It's a question of whether Noel and Liam want to draw a line in the sand and close the door on this chapter, knowing they captured the zeitgeist. Or do they strike it up again and keep the magic going? It's a difficult decision to make.' Last month I revealed that private bidders and festivals — including Coachella in the US and Benicassim in Spain — have sent in offers for the band to consider. All those, I've been told, have so far been stonewalled. As a fan, I'd love the chance to see them live just one last time. But if Noel and Liam do decide that this is it, then I'm counting my lucky stars I got to be there in Cardiff, on the second night of the comeback. 15 Liam and Noel Gallagher have been offered four huge shows at Knebworth House next year Credit: Getty Jamie a dip of all right JAMIE DORNAN is apparently a big fan of cold-water swimming, which makes him the natural fit to promote, er, Diet Coke. He said: 'Cold-water swimming is a passion that's become very important to me. It's my way of finding a moment for myself and I try to do it as often as I can. 'I hope that giving a peek behind the scenes of my lesser-known passion inspires others to take a moment for themselves, crack open an ice-cold Diet Coke, and explore their own personal tastes.'
