During the recent face-off between Indiana Fever and the Connecticut Sun, Caitlin Clark injured her right groin accidentally. The 23-year-old WNBA star suffered a major setback just before the much-awaited All-Star game.
Reportedly, she has been replaced by fellow teammate Lexie Hull for the upcoming All-Star game.
'Indiana Fever guard Lexie Hull will replace teammate Caitlin Clark in the WNBA All-Star 3-PT contest, the league announced.'
After making a bounce pass, Caitlin Clark grabbed her right groin with tears in her eyes. The WNBA star even issued a statement after the game, which clearly reflected her disappointment regarding her absence from the 3-Point Contest or the All-Star Game on Saturday. The statement mentioned,
'I am incredibly sad and disappointed to say I can't participate in the 3-Point Contest or the All-Star Game.
I have to rest my body. I will still be at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for all the action, and I'm looking forward to helping (New York Liberty coach) Sandy (Brondello) coach our team to a win.'
Lexie Hull is hitting 46.8 percent of her three-point attempts this season, the fourth-best percentage in the league. She has made 29 threes, tying her with Caitlin Clark for the second-most on the Fever. Kelsey Mitchell, also an All-Star, leads the team with 49 made three-pointers.

Stephanie White
reacts to Caitlin Clark's sudden exit before the All-Star game
Indiana Fever's coach Stephanie White recently reacted to the exit news of Caitlin Clark just before All-Star game . White not only mentioned about Clark's groin injury but also expressed the importance of the physical and mental well-being of an athlete. She said,
'It's a big deal to have (the) All-Star (Game) in Indianapolis, and of course, with Caitlin being a focal point of that, as the coach of the Indiana Fever, it's not a bigger deal than our long-term season, but it's also part of the fun.'
White further added,
'The big picture is most important for her health and wellness long-term and for our team.'
Caitlin Clark has dealt with four non-contact injuries this year, causing her to miss 11 games. She sat out five games because of a left quad injury, another five due to a left groin strain, and most recently missed one game with a right groin issue. Earlier in the year, she also missed Indiana's preseason opener with tightness in her left leg.

Red Sox pitcher Tanner Houck to undergo Tommy John surgery

BOSTON (AP) — Boston Red Sox right-hander Tanner Houck's attempt to come back this season is over. HT Image Manager Alex Cora said Saturday that Houck will undergo Tommy John surgery. An All-Star last season, the 29-year-old Houck went on the injured list in mid-May with a right flexor strain after going 0-3 with an 8.04 ERA in nine starts. 'Tanner's going to have Tommy John surgery,' Cora said before the Red Sox faced the Houston Astros at Fenway Park. 'He went to see Dr. Meister there in Texas and that was the recommendation,' Cora said. 'We don't have a date yet, but he's going to have it." Houck had a strong 2024 season, finishing seventh in the American League with a 3.12 ERA in 30 starts, but was only able to make five rehab appearances after going on the IL. 'Tough year for him, tough year for us,' Cora said of the season-ending news. 'But he'll kill the rehab, he'll do his job, and when he comes back, he's going to be OK.' Houck earned his first All-Star appearance by going 8-6 with a 2.54 ERA in the first half. He struggled after the break, going 1-4 with a 4.23 ERA. He worked an inning at the All-Star Game in Texas last year, giving up three hits including a homer to Shohei Ohtani. He's the third Boston starting pitcher to suffer a season-ending injury. Hunter Dobbins tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee covering first base last month and Kutter Crawford underwent right wrist surgery. The team hopes the pickup of righty Dustin May at the trade deadline from the Los Angeles Dodgers will bolster the staff. He's expected to make his first start for the Red Sox on Wednesday at Fenway. 'It was definitely a ride of emotions, up and down,' said May, sitting in the dugout on Saturday of being dealt to Boston. 'Sad leaving because I've been there my whole career, but very, very excited to be joining this organization.' May knew his days as a starter with the Dodgers were likely coming to an end this season with a few starters expected to come off the injured list. 'I was kid of pushed out,' he said. 'We've got quite a few guys there in that organization. I couldn't be more excited and thrilled to be here and be a part of it.' ___ AP MLB:
