Homebound Cinematographer Accused Of Abuse By Filmmaker Abhinav Singh

Cinematographer Pratik Shah deletes Instagram after emotional abuse allegations by filmmaker Abhinav Singh spark outrage and fresh claims from others online.
Cinematographer Pratik Shah — best known for his work on Amazon Prime Video's Jubilee, the upcoming feature CTRL, and Homebound, which premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival — is at the centre of serious allegations involving emotional abuse, manipulation, and inappropriate conduct. The controversy erupted after independent filmmaker Abhinav Singh took to Instagram to publicly share his personal experiences with Shah, describing him as 'highly manipulative" and 'emotionally abusive."
Singh's candid revelation opened the floodgates, prompting nearly 20 women to reach out to him with similar accounts of troubling interactions with the cinematographer. 'I've spoken out, and now I'm hearing from others — people who've felt silenced or sidelined," Singh stated in his Instagram stories. 'It's heartbreaking. The patterns are undeniable. Many have called him a predator."
In a powerful call-to-action addressed to men in the industry, Singh also voiced his disappointment over the collective silence from his male peers. 'Not a single man messaged to ask what happened, to listen, or to offer support. That silence is loud," he wrote. 'Use your privilege to listen — really listen. Use your platform to ask difficult questions. Call out behaviour even when it's inconvenient. Do it not just for your mothers, daughters, and sisters — do it for your friends, colleagues, and peers. Being a man is not about 'being able to get it up.' Being a man — being human — is about showing up."
In the immediate aftermath of the backlash, Pratik Shah appeared to deactivate his Instagram account. As of this writing, his handle displays a 'user not found" error, indicating that it has either been deleted or disabled.
The controversy deepened when filmmaker and writer Srishti Riya Jain shared a series of posts on her Instagram, alleging that Shah has 'been on the prowl for the past four years." Jain highlighted discussions from Reddit where users had previously flagged Shah's behaviour, describing him as someone who habitually slid into women's DMs and made them uncomfortable. She called out the hypocrisy of the industry in turning a blind eye to such conduct, despite Shah being associated with Homebound — a film that was recently lauded at Cannes for its empathy and emotional sensitivity.
'To everyone pretending to act shocked, scandalised, and suddenly awoken from their slumber… THIS man worked on one of the 'most empathetic' films of the year — or so the interviews at Cannes claimed," she wrote, exposing what she sees as a glaring disconnect between the values portrayed onscreen and the conduct tolerated behind the scenes.
Reddit users also chimed in with firsthand accounts. One user alleged, 'Pratik Shah is a total sleazeball. He slides into every girl's DMs and talks crap." Another recounted, 'He sent me a follow request last year while I was liking a mutual friend's pictures. I accepted it, and he said it was a mistake. I unfollowed him immediately — it felt off."
As of now, Pratik Shah has not issued a public statement addressing the allegations. The film community and social media at large continue to call for accountability, demanding not only transparency but also introspection about how such behaviour continues to go unchecked in an industry that so often projects empathy while failing to practise it internally.

Fahadh Faasil is undoubtedly one of the most sought-after actors in Indian cinema, and now it seems Trisha Krishnan wants to work with the actor as well. In a recent appearance for Thug Life promotions, the actress talked about the actor and considers Aavesham to be her favorite film in recent times. In her words, when asked about which Malayalam actor she would like to work with, the actress said, 'Without any doubt, I would say Fahadh Faasil. My wish is to act alongside him. It doesn't matter what kind of genre the film would be, he would do an exceptional work.' 'Aavesham is one of my favorite films, and no matter what kind of genre, I would like to work with him,' the Leo actress added. Interestingly, in recent times, Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt had also made a similar statement during her Cannes appearance. Talking about the immense talents in Indian cinema, the Jigraa actress said, 'Fahadh Faasil is an actor I truly admire. He is an exceptional performer. Aavesham is one of my favorite movies, and I would definitely be interested in working with him someday.' " Hum Log Itne...": Actor Rakul Preet Singh's Stunning Response To Virat Kohli-Avneet Kaur Controversy

Virat Kohli was embroiled in a controversy recently, when the star Indian cricketer was seen by fans across social media for liking an Instagram post of actor Avneet Kaur. Kohli went to the extent of coming out and clarifying that the like had appeared while the algorithm was being refreshed. Looking back at the incident, actor Rakul Preet Singh stated that it is "sad" that it was a matter of news and caused headlines. Rakul even labelled Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma as the celebrity couple that inspires her the most. Speaking in the Shubhankar Mishra Podcast, Rakul Preet Singh spoke on the Virat Kohli-Avneet Kaur incident. "Too sad yaar. That is too sad. Hum log itne velle hai na. Hum bohot velle hain ki humko yeh bhi pata chal gaya ke 2 million followers badh gaye. Fark hi nahi padta na yaar. Kya fark padta hai agar kisi ne like kara, ya nahi kara, ya galti se ho gaya (It is so sad. We have too much time on our hands to know that two million followers increased. How does it matter if someone liked it or did not like it, or it happened accidentally?)," Rakul said. Kohli had issued a clarification on Instagram following the incident. Here is what Kohli had written: "I'd like to clarify that while clearing my feed, it appears the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction. there was absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made. Thank you for your understanding." Former South Africa wicketkeeper-batter AB de Villiers feels that in-form Virat Kohli will play a big knock in the IPL 2025 summit clash for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) after confirming their berth for the final. RCB outclassed Punjab Kings by eight wickets in Qualifier 1 on Thursday to get a direct spot in the final on the back of their all-round performance in Mullanpur. Josh Hazlewood and Suyash Sharma bagged three scalps each while Yash Dayal clinched two wickets to bundle out Punjab Kings for 101 in 14.1 overs in a crucial encounter. Ahead of the all-important final, former Proteas cricketer backed Kohli to come big in the title clash at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 3. "The first time I saw him on the screen for PBKS vs RCB game, was when he got out of the bus, and I just saw a lot of focus in that guy. That's the typical kind of body language we're so used to seeing. And what I love most about this is - he didn't score runs today, but we still saw him right till the end, celebrating with the batters. "The ultimate team man, and he looks very, very focused. Obviously, the job's not done yet, but I'm very excited to watch him play. I have no doubt in my mind he's going to play a big hand in the final," De Villiers said on JioHotstar.
