James Gunn Reveals How Powerful Batman's Wayne Enterprises Is in DCU
James Gunn says Wayne Enterprises is one of four big companies in DCU
Gunn disclosed during a recent conversation with Rainn Wilson for Interview magazine that Wayne Enterprises is one of the four most 'dominating' corporations in the world in the DCU. 'I think that we're reaching a point in the DCU where there's three factions,' the filmmaker explained. 'There's the Metahumans, the governments, and then the corporations. And the corporations are equally important. There's LuthorCorp, there's LordTech and Stagg Industries and Wayne Enterprises, which are the four big companies that are vying for another type of domination.'
Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor is the head of LuthorCorp, as seen in 2025's Superman, which Gunn wrote and directed. Meanwhile, Maxwell Lord heads LordTech. In Superman, James Gunn's brother Sean makes a cameo as Lord and will reprise the role in Peacemaker Season 2. In DC Comics, Simon Stagg owns Stagg Industries and is a major antagonist to Metamorpho, portrayed in the DCU by Anthony Carrigan. Although Simon hasn't yet appeared in the franchise, Superman the movie confirms his and his company's existence when the titular superhero enters a Stagg Industries building to get away from an angry crowd.
Gunn also mentioned all these corporations, supposedly including Wayne Enterprises, are 'amoral.' He said, 'They aren't evil corporations, really. They're just f—— amoral corporations.' He went on to elaborate that while figureheads of the companies like Lex and Lord can be good or evil, the companies themselves are amoral. It will be interesting to see how the DCU deals with Bruce and Wayne Enterprises with this approach.

7 predictions for James Gunn's Superman Saga
Following the success of Superman in theaters, writer-director James Gunn announced that he is now working on the next film in his Superman Saga. Gunn's revelation means there will be many more exciting stories on the big screen surrounding the Man of Steel and his friends in the new DC Universe. Superman's story has set up many possible narratives for its sequel films, which could feature new and returning characters and teams. While the DCU is still unfolding, here are some predictions of what shall come in the rest of James Gunn's Superman Saga. Lex Luthor forms the Legion of Doom At the end of Superman, Lex Luthor is arrested for his crimes and taken to Belle Reve, where the government imprisons supervillains and metahumans. From there, he could end up assembling a league of villains to escape prison and get revenge on Superman and the Justice Gang for foiling his plans. Recommended Videos The DCU has introduced or will introduce villains who could be a part of Lex's group, such as Circe, Gorilla Grodd, and Sinestro, so it seems like the franchise will eventually show them teaming up against the Man of Steel and his allies. Brainiac appears One major Superman villain who has yet to receive a big-screen debut is Brainiac. There have been varying backstories for this character, with some adaptations making him an AI created by Kryptonians. Nevertheless, this villain remains one of the most fearsome figures in the DC franchise, having invaded and harvested countless worlds in his pursuit to collect all knowledge. The character was reportedly set to appear in the cancelled Man of Steel sequel. Now, Gunn has the opportunity to bring this character into another Superman film. Ultraman returns as Bizarro Despite his title, Ultraman was more like the villain Bizarro in that he was a mindless clone of Superman, and the sequels could further embrace his comic book roots. In Superman, Ultraman was knocked into the rift below Luthor's pocket universe. It's unclear if he survived. While he may seem like a one-off villain, Gunn has the opportunity to bring the Kryptonian clone back in a spectacular way. A sequel film could embrace Bizarro's comic book roots by revealing that Ultraman ended up in an alternate universe based on the Bizarro World. During his time there, he could not only develop a zombie-esque appearance like Bizarro, but he could also develop sentience and become a far more deadly and compelling villain. Superman and Supergirl team up While Supergirl made a cameo at the end of Superman, she could have a bigger role in the Man of Steel's next film. As a Kryptonian, she has immense powers rivaling her cousin's, so she could be a huge help in fighting whatever big villain Superman has to face in the future. It could also give the filmmakers the chance to further explore their dynamic as cousins and the last children of Krypton. Her adventure in her upcoming solo film could catch the attention of another cosmic villain, inadvertently setting the stage for Superman's next big battle on Earth. Ultraman returns with Crime Syndicate If Ultraman ends up in an alternate universe after Superman, he could, instead of becoming Bizarro, join the Crime Syndicate like his comic book counterpart. The Syndicate is essentially a darker version of the Justice League from another universe, featuring evil versions of heroes like Batman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern. By sending Ultraman into the interdimensional rift, Superman could've secretly set up a future war between both teams in a crossover event similar to Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths. Superman battles the Authority The DCU has been slowly building up to the Authority's debut, having already introduced one of its core members, the Engineer, in Superman. Since the character survived the events of the film, she could return for a rematch against Supes in a sequel, except she may fight alongside the other members of the Authority. This team-up against the Man of Steel could make for an especially challenging conflict in a sequel. It could also allow Gunn to introduce the Authority and build up more hype for them before releasing their solo film. Rogol Zaar appears In the DCU, Clark's Kryptonian parents are revealed to have sent their son to Earth so he could conquer the planet and breed with humanity to preserve the Kryptonian race. This implies that Kryptonians were an imperialist race of invaders, giving them a poor reputation across the cosmos. Thus, Superman paves the way for Rogol Zaar to appear as a villain in a future film. Rogol Zaar is an alien warrior hellbent on eradicating the Kryptonian race. This modern DC villain views the Kryptonians as a universal plague. Not only does Zaar claim to have destroyed the planet Krypton, but he was also so powerful that Superman had to team up with General Zod to defeat him. If Zaar were to appear in the DCU, the Kryptonians' history of conquering planets could give him an understandable reason to want to destroy them all. Plus, the DCU could then have Clark team up with Supergirl and Zod in a surprising new story.

Where Does ‘Peacemaker' Season 2 Take Place In Rebooted DC Universe?
The rebooted DC Universe (DCU) is shaping up, and season two of Peacemaker is the latest project to fit into the timeline. Three years after the debut of the Peacemaker TV series, John Cena is back as the titular antihero for season two, which premieres on HBO Max on Thursday. But plenty of things have shifted in the DC Universe since season one. After several critical failures (see: Black Adam, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom), the DC Universe is in the early stages of a much-needed retooling, helmed by DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran. Season two of Peacemaker, which hits streaming a month after Gunn's Superman reboot was released in theaters, falls squarely into the first chapter of the new DCU, called Gods and Monsters. All this new world-building might be difficult to keep track of, so in case you're curious about how season two of Peacemaker fits into the DCU, we've got you covered. The rebooted DC Universe kicked off with the animated series Creature Commandos, released in 2024 and created by Gunn. But Superman, written and directed by Gunn and starring David Corenswet as the superhero, marks the first movie in the retooled DCU and is considered the real start of the revamped franchise. That film is set after the events of Creature Commandos and before season two of Peacemaker. Superman also features a cameo from Peacemaker, who's seen criticizing the Man of Steel during an appearance on a talk show. Cena's cameo not only serves as a precursor for season two of Peacemaker but functions as a connective tissue in the new DCU. During the Peacemaker panel at San Diego Comic-Con in July, Gunn, the showrunner, revealed that season two takes place one month after the events of Superman. Gunn also told Entertainment Weekly back in May that season two of Peacemaker takes place roughly "a couple years" after the events of season one. The showrunner elaborated on the significance of the connection between Superman and Peacemaker at the NYC premiere of season two on August 13. 'Superman leads into this show and then we have the setting up of all of the rest of the DCU in this season of Peacemaker, it's incredibly important,' he told The Hollywood Reporter. The teaser trailer for season two indicates that Superman characters Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), and Maxwell Lord (Sean Gunn) are among the new DCU faces who will pop up in the show. They're seen interviewing an eager Peacemaker, who's interested in joining the Justice Gang. Unfortunately for him, they're not impressed. Gunn told EW that there will be 'a bunch of other characters later on in the season from other parts of the DCU and from Superman.' "There might even be one really, really, really big cameo near the end of the show," he teased. Cena, for his part, told THR that the new season isn't about outdoing the first installment; it's 'about furthering the narrative" of the interconnected DCU. 'That whole DCU through line — it takes the 11th Street Kids through their next adventure, but it also has a lot to do with the DCU going forward.' Season two of Peacemaker premieres on Thursday at 9 p.m. EST. The remaining episodes will release weekly, leading up to the season finale on Thursday, October 9.
