Pradhan said NEP 2020 emphasises online and offline public disclosure and transparency for both public and private schools. "NEP proposes similar standards of audit and disclosure as a 'not-for- profit' entity to all the education institutions. Surplus, if any, will be reinvested in the educational sector. Similarly, in higher education, all HEIs- public and private- shall be treated at par observing common guidelines."
The Universities are autonomous bodies which are governed by their respective Acts or statues. Based on the type of universities, the criteria for fee structure is administered, he said. In respect of IITs/ IIITs / NITs/IIEST/ IIMs etc, the fee structure is regulated as per the provision of the respective Acts/ Statutes, Pradhan pointed out.

Opposition pulls out former Rajya Sabha Chairman Dhankhar's remarks to counter government over SIR debate
Countering the government's arguments against holding a debate on the ongoing special intensive revision of Bihar electoral rolls, the Opposition on Wednesday (August 6, 2025) cited former Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar's remarks in the Upper House that the Parliament is entitled to discuss everything. It also referred to previous instances when debates were held on electoral reforms and functioning of the Election Commission. 'There is ample precedent. The government must not delay the long overdue and essential discussion on electoral reforms,' Mr. Gogoi said. The Merchant Shipping Bill, 2024 empowers the central government to take charge and detain vessels within India or in coastal waters as a vessel without nationality, if such vessel is not legally entitled to fly the flag of a state or has lost such a right. The Bill seeks to repeal the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 and provides for contemporaneous, futuristic and dynamic legislation to meet the requirements of India as an emerging economy. It also provides for limitation of liability for damages in respect of certain claims and constitution of limitation fund. Rijiju also urged the Opposition members to participate in the debate for the passage of key legislations. "I urge the members not to disrupt the House. There are important bills to be taken up.
