Lindsay Lohan shocks interviewers with the one reason she left Hollywood and moved to Dubai: ‘It's not legal'
During an interview on Live with Kelly and Mark, Lohan was asked what it is like living in Dubai.
'It's just far away from Hollywood, and I live a very normal life,' she said.
She said that stricter privacy laws were the main factor drawing her to Dubai, where she enjoys a life far removed from the relentless attention she faced for most of her life.
'There's no worry of, like, I can't go eat at this place 'cause someone's gonna take a picture of my son,' she continued. 'And it's just, I feel very safe.'
Host Kelly Ripa was taken aback when Lohan detailed Dubai's strict photo laws. 'No, it's not legal,' Lohan said.
'You can't even take a picture of someone else if you're at a restaurant. You have to ask the person, which is a big difference from here.'
'What? That's incredible!' Ripa exclaimed.
Lohan stressed the importance of privacy. 'Yeah, privacy is key.'
The 39-year-old actress has been based in Dubai since 2014.
She married financier Bader Shammas in 2022, and the couple welcomed their son Luai in 2023.
Lohan has long struggled with the intense scrutiny of fame. In 2018, she told Paper magazine, 'I could do 99 things right and one thing wrong, but it's that one thing that will be focused on.'
'Behind the scenes, I do what I can to be the best version of me, which never gets mentioned,' she added. 'I am also human. I make mistakes. That's all that seems to get reported.'
Currently, Lohan is promoting Freakier Friday, the sequel to the 2003 hit Freaky Friday. She reunited with Jamie Lee Curtis for the film, out on August 8.

'She said, 'How you show up on set is how the whole crew feels. You control the energy that goes on set, so always bring your best self,'' Lohan recalled.
'It's very full circle for me,' she said of returning for the sequel. 'And it was just a really exciting day when we were first there, all together.'

Lindsay - who moved to Dubai back in 2014 - said on Live with Kelly and Mark: "It's just far away from Hollywood, and I live a very normal life. "There's no worry of like, I can't go eat at this place 'cause someone's gonna take a picture of my son. And it's just ... I feel very safe." Lindsay loves that her family can enjoy quality time together without being bothered. The Freakier Friday star said: "You can't take a picture of someone else if you're in a restaurant. Lindsay Lohan believes she was "pigeonholed" as an actress. The Freakier Friday star - who took a nine-year break from making movies after 2013's The Canyons - still finds it "frustrating" that she has to "fight" for grittier projects because she grew up in the public eye and was best known for teen comedies in her younger years. Asked if she felt pigeonholed, she told The Times newspaper: 'Yeah, I do. I was so thrilled to work on A Prairie Home Companion, and yet even today I have to fight for stuff that is like that, which is frustrating. "Because, well, you know me as this — but you also know I can do that. So let me! Give me the chance. I have to break that cycle and open doors to something else, leaving people no choice. And in due time, if Martin Scorsese reaches out, I'm not going to say no.' She said: "I'm never looking to do something that presses too many boundaries. I tried that when I was younger, I didn't love it. 'I think that way because my life was so public at such a young age — out there for people to see and interpret for themselves — and so I'm always thinking what the public perception of me is.
