Social media reacts to Alabama flipping 4-star quarterback from Big 12 program
On Tuesday afternoon, the Alabama Crimson Tide received some surprise news when 2026 quarterback prospect Jett Thomalla announced that he was flipping his commitment to the program from the Iowa State Cyclones.
A commitment to Iowa State since April of 2025, Thomalla, a four-star prospect, is currently considered as the nation's No. 232 overall player according to the 247Sports Composite recruiting rankings, as well as the No. 16 quarterback nationally in the class out of Nebraska. There, Thomalla attends Millard South High School, and also ranks as the state's top 2026 recruit regardless of position.
This past season as a junior, Thomalla also left his mark on the football field for Millard South by completing 69.6% of passes for 3,664 yards and a 47:3 TD:INT ratio across 12 games.
Following the commitment of Thomalla to Alabama, the Crimson Tide have likely now secured their quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class, and in the process, have brought their number of current commits in the cycle to seven total.
Here are some reactions on social media Tuesday to Thomalla officially flipping his commitment from Iowa State to Alabama.

Jalen Ramsey spotted at UCLA — fueling Steelers trade rumors due to DK Metcalf connection
Jalen Ramsey spotted at UCLA — fueling Steelers trade rumors due to DK Metcalf connection Jalen Ramsey has been working out at the same place as Steelers WR DK Metcalf #noticing — Polymarket Football (@PolymarketBlitz) June 19, 2025 Jalen Ramsey's UCLA training pic has gone viral after weeks of Steelers trade rumors and speculation. UCLA Football posted several pictures of Ramsey's training session, which sent social media pages into a frenzy. Polymarket Football quickly speculated that the workout could be connected to DK Metcalf, as the Steelers wide receiver had his famous throwing session with Aaron Rodgers there. Back in April, insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Dolphins and Ramsey had mutually agreed to seek trade options. Over the past several weeks, Ramsey has been connected to both the Rams and Steelers as potential landing spots for the three-time All-Pro corner — while HC Sean McVay claimed "obstacles" may prevent Los Angeles from acquiring him. Steelers fans should take the now-viral UCLA workout speculation with a grain of salt, as Ramsey's choice of training facility being similar to that of Rodgers and Metcalf is likely coincidence — but it definitely adds more fuel to the rumored Pittsburgh trade narrative this offseason.
