Kesari Chapter 2 Box Office Collection Day 5: Akshay Kumar's Film Holds Steady, Mints Rs 38 Crore
Akshay Kumar is back in action. Kesari Chapter 2, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, is holding its ground at the box office even after five days in theatres. The film, which also stars R Madhavan and Ananya Panday, has managed to pull in a solid Rs 38.37 crore across India so far.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Kesari Chapter 2 earned an estimated Rs 4.37 crore net in India on Tuesday, bringing its total domestic collection to Rs 38.37 crore. The film is now nearing the Rs 40 crore milestone in India. Globally, it crossed Rs 55 crore within just four days of release. The Akshay Kumar-starrer opened with Rs 7.75 crore on April 18 and saw strong weekend figures, collecting Rs 9.75 crore on Saturday and Rs 12 crore on Sunday. On Monday, the film added Rs 4.5 crore to its tally, maintaining a steady run through the weekdays.
Kesari Chapter 2 serves as a spiritual successor to Akshay Kumar's 2019 hit Kesari. This time around, Akshay steps into the shoes of lawyer C Sankaran Nair, taking on the British Empire in the aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. R Madhavan plays his courtroom rival, Neville McKinley, while Ananya Panday takes on the role of Dilreet Gill. Since its release, the film has been receiving positive reviews from both critics and audiences.
A part of the film's review by News18 read, 'Kesari Chapter 2 is just a spiritual sequel to Kesari and has no connection to the Battle of Saragarhi. The only common link between both the films is Akshay Kumar and his story of relentless courage. But to be honest, Kesari Chapter 2 brings to the table so much more than chest-thumping patriotism and narabaazi. It largely is a courtroom drama and that precisely is what sets it apart from the plethora of other patriotic films. To put it more correctly, Kesari Chapter 2 is a historical film."

Anil Sharma, who directed the original film back in 2007, has yet again taken the director's chair for the sequel, which will release after two decades. In the new update about the film, the filmmaker has announced that the script of the upcoming cinematic piece is ready. In an interview with News 18, Sharma revealed that he is currently juggling multiple scripts, including one starring the Deol brothers.
