Miami Restaurant Openings to Know for August 2025
Having trouble keeping up with all the new establishments popping up? Here are some noteworthy restaurants opening around Miami this August.
A Fort Lauderdale steakhouse with Floridian roots opens in Coral Gables
Daniel's Miami takes over the former Fiola space with a classic steakhouse menu that utilizes local Florida ingredients like Swank Farms tomatoes, Florida-raised prime rib, and Sunshine Provisions sausage. This is the second Daniel's location, with the flagship Fort Lauderdale restaurant earning a place in the 2025 Florida Michelin Guide.
Mediterranean fare by a seasoned executive chef
Led by executive chef Camila Olarte (Los Fuegos by Francis Mallman, the Surf Club Restaurant by Thomas Keller, and the French Laundry), Cleo offers Eastern Mediterranean fare at the Balfour Hotel in Miami Beach's South of Fifth neighborhood. Inspired by dishes from Greece, the Levant, and Morocco, the menu features wagyu beef kebabs, house-baked pita with eggplant moutabel, and a shareable grilled branzino.
Korean barbecue and hot pots in Pembroke Pines
KPOT, the all-you-can-eat Korean barbecue chain, opened in Pembroke Pines. In addition to smoky meats, the menu includes hot pots and a full-service bar. Diners can prepare their own meals on tabletop grills and individual hot pot burners.
28 flavors of ice cream in a nostalgic setting
Founded in 2005, Wall's Old Fashioned Ice Cream opened a second location on Sunset Drive for its 20th anniversary. The ice cream shop offers 28 flavors of ice cream, shakes, sundaes, malts, and more in a nostalgic setting.
A tavern pizza pop-up finds a permanent home
Fratesi's Pizza, which gained a loyal following by popping up at bars and restaurants around town, has opened its first brick-and-mortar restaurant in Downtown Miami. Fratesi's specializes in tavern pizza, known for its super-thin, almost cracker-like crust and cheese that melts around the pizza's perimeter. Standbys include the Demon Pig Boy (pepperoni and pickled hot peppers) and the Demon Pig Girl (sausage and banana peppers), and there are vegetarian and vegan options.

A Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant opens a fast casual version
El Turco opens El Turco Express at the Central Fare Collective. This fast-casual version of the original Michelin Bib Gourmand recipient offers Turkish fare such as kebabs and hummus.
For lasagna lovers only
First, there was Cotoletta, the Coconut Grove restaurant that serves only one main dish (veal alla Milanese). Then came Little River's San Lorenzo, which offers either a meat or a seafood dinner option. Now, 84 Magic Hospitality brings you 3190, the Coconut Grove restaurant that offers lasagna ($15) served two ways: the 'Si Papa,' a classic Bolognese lasagna named after executive chef Giulio Rossi's daughter's response to an offer of his signature dish, and a vegetarian pesto version. There's also tiramisu for dessert, and a list of Italian wines.
New York City Mediterranean hotspot opens in Midtown Miami
New York City's Amavi opens a Midtown Miami spot, showcasing the restaurant's Mediterranean fare. Menu items include a whole branzino finished tableside, pasta made in-house daily, and lamb chops with pomegranate molasses.
Wabi Sabi transforms into Midorie
Restaurateur Alvaro Perez-Miranda closed his much-loved Wabi Sabi last month to quickly transform it into Midorie. The restaurant's minimalist yet artistic dining room allows patrons to draw their attention to the pristine sushi made with seafood flown in from Japan's fish markets. The restaurant also offers donburi (Japanese bowl meals), and a $100 omakase that's an exceptional value.

Disney World Unveils New Pirate-Themed Pub with Nostalgic 'Pirates of the Caribbean 'Touches
The restaurant is slated to open on Friday, Aug. 29NEED TO KNOW Disney shared a first look at The Beak and Barrel, a new Pirate-themed bar and restaurant in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World Resort The menu includes rum cocktails, tropical mocktails and octopus salad with Piquillo pepper-almond foam Fans can make reservations starting on Aug. 14 and purchase themed merch like T-shirts and parrot plushiesWalt Disney World Resort announced the opening of Magic Kingdom's Adventureland's newest bar and restaurant, The Beak and Barrel, back in May and recently shared the first looks of its Pirates of the Caribbean-inspired offerings. On Tuesday, Aug. 5, Disney unveiled a few of the dishes guests will be able to enjoy at the new outpost, from tropical beverages to deep-sea-themed eats, along with a sneak peek at the restaurant's merchandise that features clothing attire and plushies. Guests (or pirates) can look forward to The Treasure Trove – a non-alcoholic concoction of ube, lemon and coconut served with vanilla cake plank, chocolate cannonball and golden caramel popcorn – and The Cursed Treasure, a non-alcoholic beverage thats a blend of 'coconut milk and cookie crumbs topped with vanilla foam and pirate's gold cookie.' The drink is meant to invoke that 'cookies and cream' flavor that all ages enjoy. The seven spirit-based offerings, along with an impressive wine and exclusive draft beer lineup, include the Salty Seas mARRRgarita, Barrels Ablaze, the Hibisbus Rum Punch Royale, Port of Call, Lit Fuse, Plunderer's Punch and Siren's Whisper. The latter is inspired by the Fountain of Youth, a mystical staple of the films, and comes together with Pot & Column Still White Rum with citrus and spice in a mesmerizing shade of blue. Salty Seas mARRRgarita has all the notes drinkers love in a margarita – Lalo Blanco Tequila, Cointreau Liqueur, and lime – with the addition of ube for a Southeast Asian twist. Another visually notable is the Plunderer's Punch, which consists of "KKraken Black Spiced Rum, blackberry, vanilla, and a hint of citrus" and comes in a souvenir skull mug. One of the most eye-catching dishes on the food menu is the Kraken's Catch, a cold salad mixture of olives, bell peppers, avocado and Piquillo pepper-almond foam paired with octopus tentacles marinated in lemon and lime. Other food options include Cook's Corn Griddle Cakes, a corn cake stuffed with melted cheese, lime sour cream and chili peppers topped with cotija cheese, and Island Provisions, a shareable plate of plantain chips, blue corn tortillas, and toasted flatbread that comes with a variety of savory dips. Though many Disney-bound adults are impatiently waiting for the new eatery, some online critics found the new menu to be more promising than they believe it can offer. 'I'm excited to eventually go, but this one plate [The Kraken's Catch] stuck out to me as a little overambitious for a pirate themed tavern in MK,' wrote one curious Redditor, adding, 'I can't wait to have a couple rum cocktails and cold octopus tentacles with olives before heading back out into 95 degree heat and hopping on Thunder Mountain. I'm sure my stomach will feel amazing the rest of the day!' However, another commenter pushed back on the criticism, using the parks' Be Our Guest Restaurant and Columbia Harbor House as an example, writing, 'Be our guest has/had octopus dishes (and drinks!) so i don't think it's that crazy. it's no different than having any other seafood, like the salmon at columbia harbor house.' Whether a fan of the semi-new experimental dish or not, guests can leave with the new T-shirt inspired by The Beak and Barrel and a Parrot Shoulder Plush Reservations for The Beak and Barrel will open on Aug. 14, while the restaurant officially is set to open on Aug. 29. British holidaymaker arrested in Florida resort after 'trying to drown daughter-in-law in swimming pool'
A British holidaymaker has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly tried to drown his daughter-in-law. Mark Gibbon, 62, was with his family at the Solterra Resort in Davenport, Florida when he reportedly got into an argument over the "stipulations of his will". According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Gibbon attempted to push the relative, 33, under the swimming pool at their place near Disney World. His granddaughter, nine, reportedly jumped into the pool to try and save her mother but he pushed her away. He is said to have stopped the alleged attempted drowning when two neighbouring sisters said they had called 911. Gibbon, of Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, was taken into custody on August 3 just after 5.15pm. He allegedly admitted to pushing his daughter-in-law under the water but denied trying to drown her. 'She advised that she could not breathe and believed that she was going to drown,' deputies wrote. '(The victim) advised that she had to fight Mark in order to get away from him and from under the water but he kept pushing her back under.' Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said: 'It's great that Polk County draws visitors from all across the world, but we expect vacationers to behave while they visit with us, just as we expect our lifelong residents to do the same. 'Because Mr Gibbon couldn't control his anger, he may find himself spending a lot more time in Florida than he had anticipated.' He has now been charged with attempted second-degree murder and battery. He is due in court on September 9. Gibbon is a lighting technician who runs his own company, MRG Lighting, and has worked on music videos for the likes of Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and Paloma Faith.

Hulk Hogan's daughter explains her personal reason for not attending her father's funeral
People in entertainmentFacebookTweetLink Follow Brooke Hogan Oleksy may not have honored her father Hulk Hogan in the most traditional of ways, but she wants her followers and his fans to know how she did remember the legendary wrestler. 'My father hated the morbidity of funerals. He didn't want one,' she wrote in the caption of an Instagram post shared Tuesday in reference to the elder Hogan, who died last month at the age of 71. 'And although I know people grieve in many ways - and I'm so grateful for all celebrations and events organized to honor him, as his daughter, I had to make my own decision to honor him the best and most genuine way I knew how…privately…the way that made me feel the closest to him.' That way, she explained, turned out to be 'in the simplest way that agreed with my soul.' 'We took our babies to the beach, and put them in the same salty waters you loved,' Hogan Oleksy wrote. The post included a series of photos showing her, her husband Steven Oleksy and their infant twins enjoying a day at the beach. She wrote in the caption that 'the only thing missing today was him in is pop up lawn chair watching the waves…' The younger Hogan appeared with her father, brother Nick and mother Linda on the VH1 reality series 'Hogan Knows Best' which ran from 2005 to 2007. Hogan Oleksy has been out of the spotlight for years and privately married Steven Oleksy, a former professional hockey player, in 2022. The couple welcomed fraternal twins, Oliver and Molly, in January 2025. The daughter of the wrestling great reportedly became estranged from her parents over the years and in March 2025 her mother Linda, whose divorce from Hulk Hogan was finalized in 2009, posted a since-deleted video saying her daughter no longer spoke to her or her ex-husband. In responding to her mother's claims, Hogan Oleksy wrote in a statement posted on social media at the time that she ordinarily tries to avoid speaking publicly, 'But I have my own family now and it's affecting more than just me at this point.' 'No contact with my Mom has nothing to do with my Dad, and no contact with my Father has nothing to do with my Mother,' she wrote. 'This also pertains to to my Dad's second and third, now current wife. This decision was made based purely on how they have each dealt with me directly my entire life.' Following her father's death, Hogan Oleksy also shared a statement revealing that despite controversy and public misconceptions, the bond with her father 'has never broken, not even in his final moments.'
