Caitlin Clark Without Hesitation Reveals What Indiana Fever Lacked Last Year

Yahoo09-05-2025
Caitlin Clark and her Indiana Fever are preparing to face a challenging 2025 WNBA season, with a bunch of teams eager to dethrone the New York Liberty.
After a remarkable rookie season, Clark is set to take her game to the next level and lead the Fever further than the first round of the playoffs. She had enough time to rest and adjust to the WNBA, while the Fever got to work and added several players to help her reach the promised land.

The preseason is off to a good start for Indiana, which collected wins against the Washington Mystics and the Brazilian national team over the weekend.
They will close out their preparation on Saturday against the Atlanta Dream before hosting the Chicago Sky on the season opener on May 17.

Clark, DeWanna Bonner and coach Stephanie White addressed the media on Thursday. The 2024 No. 1 overall pick touched on the things the team missed last season to be more competitive.
The former Iowa Hawkeyes star said that they didn't have a lot of experience on the roster, but lauded the front office for making the right moves to bring seasoned veterans.

"The main thing we were lacking last year was experience," she said, via Coin Salao on X. "Adding really great vets like [Bonner] and Syd [Colson] and Tash [Howard] and putting that experience around us of not just being in this league but also winning. They have the championship pedigree."
More than that, she talked about the differences in cultures set by White and Christie Sides, her head coach during the 2024 season.
"You can't compare the two," Clark responded. "It's too completely different teams. ... So far, I think everybody has been very selfless."
The Fever added multiple players who know what it takes to win. Not everybody will stay with the team after 2025, so there's a little pressure on their shoulders to win the team's second championship ever, with Clark, Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell leading the way.

Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest results: Miki Sudo wins 11th title, but falls short of record on tough day

It wasn't a record-breaking performance, but Miki Sudo is walking away with yet another hot-dog eating title. Sudo won her 11th Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest on Friday, taking down 33 hot dogs and buns to pick up yet another win. The victory marks the 11th time in the last 12 years that Sudo has won the women's portion of the event. The only year she failed to win, 2021, was the year she did not participate due to her pregnancy. Sudo defeated Michelle Lesco — who won the event in 2021 — by more than 10 hot dogs. Lesco finished as the runner-up Friday after eating 22 3/4 hot dogs and buns. Advertisement This story will be updated.

Shilo Sanders Could Lose Buccaneers Roster Spot to Fellow UDFA

Shilo Sanders Could Lose Buccaneers Roster Spot to Fellow UDFA originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers seem to have upgraded several positions this offseason through free agency and the draft. Advertisement Hoping for a deep postseason run in 2025, general manager Jason Licht left no stone unturned this offseason while hoping to find talent to fill the roster, especially on defense. After the draft, Licht signed undrafted free agent safety Shilo Sanders to the roster to compete for a roster spot. But that roster spot might be in jeopardy right now, according to Pewter Report's Scott Reynolds. "I think it's an uphill climb right now. The reason is that the Bucs will likely keep four or five safeties as former All-Pro Antoine Winfield Jr. and Tykee Smith are the starters with Christian Izien and Kaevon Merriweather on deck as experienced backups who have at least two years in Todd Bowles' system," Reynolds wrote. "If Tampa Bay keeps five safeties, that certainly increases Sanders' chances of making the team. Yet it seems like fellow undrafted free agent J.J. Roberts has the inside track for that spot over Sanders at this moment. Advertisement "Roberts had a draftable grade, unlike Sanders, and was in for an official 30 visit prior to the draft, whereas Sanders was not. Plus, the team also gave him hundreds of thousands of dollars in guaranteed money that Sanders didn't get." Reynolds said. JP Peterson of The JP Peterson Show at Fan Stream Sports – Tampa Bay believes he's done everything right, and could have a spot on the practice squad when it's all said and done. 'I've spoken to some team sources who told me they could not have been more impressed with his humble, hardworking approach," Peterson said. "A model rookie. He's got some serious competition to make the roster, but a practice squad spot is almost certain. If the Bucs get a few injuries at the position, he could get elevated.' Sanders has done everything right since arriving in Tampa Bay this offseason, but sometimes it takes more than that to make the final 53-man regular season roster.
