(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA: An Indonesian man died after a struggle with the police while being arrested for going on a rampage and acting aggressively at Taman Bukit Jambul in Penang last Saturday. Acting Penang police chief Alwi Zainal Abidin said an autopsy found that the man, believed to be an undocumented migrant, died of a heart attack. 'At about 6.20pm on Saturday, police received a public complaint about a man behaving violently and wielding an iron rod at Block D, Taman Bukit Jambul. 'A police team was immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, the officers were attacked by the suspect, who acted aggressively, punching one of the policemen several times in the face and the back of the head, and attempting to seize his firearm,' Bernama reported him as saying today. Alwi said members of the public helped police subdue the man, who was taken to the Sungai Nibong police station. He said the man suddenly collapsed while at the police station and was rushed to Penang Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Alwi said an autopsy confirmed that the cause of death was a heart attack. The case has been classified as sudden death. 'We received two police reports related to the incident, one about the suspect smashing a resident's car window with an iron rod, and the other about a break-in at the resident's flat unit. 'Both acts were committed by the suspect before his outburst. Concerned for their safety, the residents contacted the police after witnessing the man behaving uncontrollably and aggressively,' he said. Johor Immigration detains 27 foreign workers
JOHOR BARU: The Malaysian Immigration Department detained 27 foreign workers without valid permits in Op Selera at a food premises in Bandar Baru Permas Jaya here on Monday. Johor Immigration director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said the integrated operation, involving 25 officers from the department's enforcement division, was conducted as a result of intelligence and public information regarding their activities at the premises. He said the arrests involved eight Indonesian men and eight women, five Myanmar men and six women aged between 18 and 50. "All of them are suspected of committing offences under Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963 as well as Regulation 11(7)(a) of the Immigration Regulations 1963. "Meanwhile, a local man who is the owner of the premises was also detained under Section 56(1)(d) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for harbouring foreigners," he said in a statement tonight. Mohd Rusdi said all the detainees were placed at the Setia Tropika Immigration Depot for investigation and further action, in addition to being issued three notices to appear at the Immigration Department to assist in the ongoing investigation. "At the same time, we would like to remind the public and employers not to harbour or employ illegal immigrants to work as legal action would be taken against them. "Therefore, employers are advised to contact the nearest immigration office directly to obtain accurate (and authentic) information if there is a party claiming to be able to manage foreign workers," he added. – Bernama

Stop Uploading Or Sharing Unverified Information Related To Zara Qairina's Death
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 (Bernama) -- The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is urging all parties to stop any action of uploading or sharing unverified information related to the death of Form One student Zara Qairina Mahathir. Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said police have detected the spread of information and a child's pictures linked to the Zara Qairina case by irresponsible parties on social media. He stated that the shared information is inaccurate and has the potential to confuse the public, besides potentially affecting the ongoing investigation and hindering the process of justice for all involved. "The entire investigation process for the case, including the post-mortem issue, is being conducted according to existing procedures and legal provisions, and all parties are advised to stop any action of uploading or sharing unverified information, including disclosing information related to the case investigation," he said in a statement tonight. Mohd Khalid said the act of disclosing information related to the case can be investigated under Section 15 of the Child Act 2001, which involves a prohibition on revealing the identity, address, school name, and pictures of the child involved, as well as Section 203A of the Penal Code for offenses related to the disclosure of information. "The individuals involved can also be investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of a network facility or network service. Adherence to the law is the basis of national peace and well-being. Any violation will be met with firm action in accordance with existing provisions," he said. Zara Qairina, 13, was confirmed to have died at Queen Elizabeth I Hospital in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on July 17. The student was taken to the hospital after being found unconscious in a drain near the dormitory of a religious school in Papar at 4 am on July 16. The investigation into the case is currently being finalised by the police after being returned by the Attorney-General's Chambers yesterday.

Decomposing body of elderly woman found in locked flat
The body of Halimatun Yusoff was found in the living room of her residence after firefighters forced open a locked door. PETALING JAYA : The decomposing body of an elderly woman was found at her residence in Flat Sri Guchil, Kuala Krai, Kelantan, this afternoon. Kuala Krai fire and rescue station operations commander Khairul Duha Abdul Halim said the body of Halimatun Yusoff, 69, who lived alone, was found at 2.08pm in the living room after firefighters forced open a locked door. 'We received a distress call at 2.04pm from police seeking assistance to open the door to the unit following a complaint of a foul smell. 'After the door was opened, our team found the decomposing body of an elderly woman who had died in the living room,' Bernama reported him as saying today.
