Movie Review: FROM THE WORLD OF JOHN WICK: BALLERINA
A young woman (Ana de Armas), after growing up in the Ruska Roma ballet school, strikes out on her own as an assassin. With her newfound freedom, she is solely focused on avenging her father's murder. However, she soon finds herself entangled with a super-secret cult of murderers. Will she be able to come out on top? Ian McShane, Angelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Norman Reedus and Lance Reddick co-star in the movie. Len Wiseman directs From the World of John Wick: Ballerina from a script by Shay Hatten.
From the World of John Wick: Ballerina is a beast of a title, but boy, oh, boy. I must bow to the Wick creative team for continually finding a way to keep the franchise feeling not only fresh but innovative. Five films in, most franchises are starting to feel … a little dusty. Not John Wick , it seems, though.

Wiseman and his creative team step into large shoes. Chad Stahelski helmed the first four films and played a vital role in crafting this world. Kids, you wouldn't even know Stahelski wasn't behind the camera. From the World of John Wick: Ballerina captures the same quick pacing in this magnificent, fluorescent, breakneck universe. Wiseman, for those who might not remember, cut his teeth directing the Underworld franchise beginning with the first film in 2003, so he knows his way around a stunt.
It shouldn't come as a surprise, but Ana de Armas slays (pun intended) as Eve, the once lost little girl coming into her own. She's by herself for long stretches of time, but her intense physicality and an occasionally winking charisma allow her to easily carry the story. De Armas, however, is particularly at ease with the stunt work, which, like any John Wick film, is always formidable.
This franchise's ability to develop on its stunts with each passing movie is a thing of beauty. Nothing is repeated. While John Wick had to spend the fourth film fighting his way through Paris, Eve must work her way through a quaint little village in the Alps, where apparently everyone is an assassin. Everything can be used as a weapon: katanas, hand grenades, dinner plates … fingers. There were plenty of shocked scoffs in the theater thanks to the pace and ferocity of the film's violence. This film is a hoot with an audience.

At the same time, the movie's dynamic supporting players will feel immediately comfortable to everyone familiar with the John Wick franchise. Ian McShane, of course, dominates when he's on screen. Any elder millennial will tell you, with far too much glee, that Angelica Huston is a queen. However, From the World of John Wick: Ballerina also reminded yours truly of one thing. We don't deserve Gabriel Byrne, who cuts a menacing figure as The Chancellor.
Friends, From the World of John Wick: Ballerina is a rarity. It might be the fifth film in the franchise, but it's also just as fun as the first. The seamless melding of inventive stunts, magnetic world-building and a colorful cast of supporting characters shoulder the load easily. This is an effortlessly gritty stunt spectacular and a must-see for John Wick fans the world over.
From the World of John Wick: Ballerina opens in theaters on June 6, 2025.

Check out Bills QB Josh Allen in the newest Snickers commercials
Buffalo Bills quarterback and reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen continues to see his star grow off the field. This week, the candy bar brand Snickers released its newest ads in its long-running "you're not you when you're hungry" campaign. And they feature a familiar face. In the first commercial entitled "Bedtime", Allen, who was announced as a spokesman for the candy company in June, is seen while in full uniform and pads and sitting in a racecar bed, reading bedtime stories peppered with fantasy football references by a hungry father. A second commercial for Snickers ice cream, called 'Construction,' features Allen as a construction worker chatting with another worker on the construction site who's distracted thinking about the Bills' next game. An offering of a Snickers proves to be the remedy in both cases. Fans can watch both commercials via social media, on YouTube, streaming and digital, social media, and on broadcast TV channels through the end of the upcoming NFL season. In addition to the commercials, Allen is featured on limited-edition Snickers and Snickers ice cream packs. The Bills quarterback will also be sharing halftime hacks on the candy bar's website. Buffalo's star quarterback will share 'hunger-busting tips' starting on September 4. Snickers will be offering chances to win prizes along with the halftime hacks, including a trip to Super Bowl LX. 'I've always been a fan of Snickers, so putting my name – and my game – on these packs is a win,' said Allen this summer in a partnership promotional statement with Snickers. 'Whether you're taking the field or taking your fantasy line-up to victory, Snickers has your back when hunger strikes.' The MVP is featured on the wrappers of limited-edition Snickers and Snickers ice cream bars, and will be sharing "halftime hacks" and 'hunger-busting tips' starting on September 4th on the brand's website. Snickers will offer chances to win prizes, including a trip to Super Bowl LX. Which Bills fans hope the QB will star in as well. The Ending of And Just Like That Was… Just Right, Actually
The following article contains spoilers for And Just Like That season three episode 12. Carrie Bradshaw has finally found her third great love. No, it's not a sardonic English Thatcherite who lives downstairs. Nor is it an insecure countryphile chopping wood in Virginia. And it's definitely not a recovering fuckboy who's busy haunting the founder of Peloton from the depths of hell. As we discovered in the series finale of And Just Like That, Carrie's soulmate is none other than herself. And a pumpkin pie. Fellow Sex and the City fans will already know that this is the last we'll see of Carrie. On August 1, Sarah Jessica Parker and Michael Patrick King announced that the SATC universe would be ending with this season of AJLT, news that sparked an overwhelming medley of feelings not unlike the five stages of grief: denial (but Lisa's dad hasn't come back to life again!), anger (Anthony has completely forgotten about Stanford!), bargaining (Maybe Socrates is an acceptable dog's name), depression (I miss Duncan), and finally, acceptance (we didn't care about Charlotte's vertigo, anyway). Online sleuths aren't buying it, and even King himself has suggested that ending the show here wasn't strictly the plan. Regardless, it's time to say our goodbyes. And in a twist none of us were expecting, we can do so peacefully with the knowledge that Carrie has ended up in exactly the right place: dancing on her own in her OTT home in an even more OTT outfit—a fuchsia sequin cardigan paired with a tulle skirt that fans will instantly recognize as a nod to her famous white tutu. To be clear, this is not a sad state of affairs. Quite the opposite! As a character who has perennially been defined by her pursuit of men, Carrie concluding the series as a single woman feels like a bold and deeply refreshing choice. Of course, living happily without a romantic partner shouldn't be seen as a radical act, particularly not in 2025. And yet, as AJLT points out by way of the rather creepy doll placed opposite Carrie when she dares to go out for dinner on her own in the finale, single women are still treated like broken parts that need to be put back together again, especially if they have the audacity to age beyond 27.

Slipknot Reportedly Selling Music Catalogue For $120 Million
Slipknot is looking to sell their entire music catalogue in a deal with HarbourView Equity Partners. According to Billboard, the deal could be worth $120 million and would include all of the band's existing albums, not future releases. Billboard estimates the band has garnered $15.5 million in annual revenue over the last three years with an additional $5.2 million from publishing per year. It's unclear how this deal would spread between Slipknot's current and previous band members. Percussionist Chris Fehn had been with the band from 1998 up until 2019 when he filed a lawsuit against Slipknot citing 'unseen' payments and compensation, which was later settled in 2022. Craig Jones, was also a member of the band from 1996 and departed with the band in 2023. Additionally, deceased members Joey Jordison and Paul Gray were instrumental in Slipknot's first four albums, and they have a number of song writing credits on Slipknots first four albums. The timing of this deal makes sense given that Slipknot finished their contract with long time record label Roadrunner Records in 2022 – The End, So Far fulfilled the band's seven album deal they had signed with the label in 1999. Since 2024, Slipknot has been celebrating the 25th anniversary of their self-titled LP. The band had toured throughout North America on the Here Comes the Pain tour which had them performing their monumental debut front-to-back. While the 25th anniversary tour concluded in early 2025, last month Slipknot announced a limited edition 25th anniversary box-set for their self-titled LP which includes 40 unreleased and is set to release on September 5th, alongside a standalone reissue.
