Mel Gibson's THE RESURRECTION OF THE CHRIST Confirmed To Shoot This Summer — GeekTyrant

Geek Tyrant18-05-2025

Mel Gibson's long-awaited The Passion of the Christ sequel, titled The Resurrection of the Christ , is ofifically moving forward and is set to start shooting in August at Rome's Cinecittà Studios. The new was announced by CEO Manuela Cacciamani.
Jim Caviezel is expected to return to play Jesus in the film, while Maia Morgenstern, who played Jesus' mother in 'The Passion,' and Francesco De Vito, who portrayed Peter, are also reportedly on board.
Gibson previously talked about the sequel calling it 'an acid trip' He went on to say that he'd 'never read anything like' the script, which Gibson's been writing alongside Randall Wallace.
He continued offering some details: 'My brother and I and Randall all sort of congregated on this. So there's some good heads put together, but there's some crazy stuff.
'And I think in order to really tell the story properly you have to really start with the fall of the angels, which means you're in another place, you're in another realm. You need to go to hell. You need to go to Sheol.'
Gibson said that he plans to bring Jim Caviezel back to the role of Jesus. Gibson said he would need to incorporate 'a few techniques' such as CGI de-aging on Caviezel since more than 20 years have passed since the first film.
Gibson described the film as 'very ambitious' and said the story not only covers 'the fall of the angels' but also 'the death of the last apostle.'
He said: 'It's about finding the way in that's not cheesy or too obvious. I think I have ideas about how to do that and how to evoke things and emotions in people from the way you depict it and the way you shoot it.
'So I've been thinking about it for a long time. It's not going to be easy and it's going to require a lot of planning and I'm not wholly sure I can pull it off to tell you the truth, it's super ambitious.
'But I'll take a crack at it because that's what you got to do, right, walk up to the plate, right?'
Gibson previously talked about the movie saying that its 'not a linear narrative,' adding that 'you have to juxtapose the central event that I'm trying to tell with everything else around it in the future, in the past, and in other realms, and that's kind of getting a little sci-fi out there.'

‘I Don't Understand You' Review: Murder and Mayhem in Italy

Dolly Parton has often joked that gay people deserve the right to legally marry and 'suffer just like us heterosexuals.' That cheeky spirit of equal-opportunity relationship struggles underpins the film 'I Don't Understand You.' Written and directed by real-life husbands David Joseph Craig and Brian Crano, the film follows dads-to-be Dom (Nick Kroll) and Cole (Andrew Rannells) as they make a series of disastrously wrong turns during an anniversary trip to rural Italy that could threaten their chances of adopting a child. Intercultural misunderstandings lead to chaos and eventual bloodshed. If only they'd done their homework before boarding the plane. Like the unhinged 2023 gay comedy 'Down Low,' this movie uses accidental murder as a darkly comic device. Lines like 'What's my hair doing?' and 'I don't want to break her stemware' — uttered after serious transgressions — land with snappy comedic timing. But this plays like a bloated 'Saturday Night Live' sketch, the increasingly implausible plot getting out of step with a sincere story about queer parenthood. In trying to be both subversive and sincere, 'I Don't Understand You' ends up not quite pulling off either. One recurring idea is that Dom and Cole may fear homophobia more than they actually encounter it — self-preservation is their sharpest weapon. Even if they don't realize it, their suffering isn't because they're gay. The couple is suffering because, unlike in queer films of decades past, they actually have the freedom to screw things up. I Don't Understand YouRated R for murderous farce and meltdown-level expletives. Running time: 1 hour 36 minutes. In theaters.

No. 21 Resort 2026 Collection

The N.21 lookbook was shot at night on the empty streets of a deserted Milan. 'I love the city's old buildings with their imposing entryways and front doors, and its eerie nocturnal atmosphere,' designer Alessandro Dell'Acqua said. But the new collection wasn't intended for late-night parties or after-hours adventures. Quite the opposite. Dell'Acqua is a quiet contrarian, and resort is centered on the quotidian-with-a-twist look he does so well. At a showroom appointment, the racks overflowed with neoprene-bonded Fair Isle cotton sweatshirts paired with ankle-grazing light wool skirts, sequined pencil skirts styled with sporty striped polos, and pale brocatelle skirt suits whose bourgeois vibe was upset by worn-in denim shirts. Dell'Acqua explained that he wanted to 'go back to basics,' but sharpened with a sort of 'essential imperfection' to make them not so safe—a built-in mix of masculine and feminine, with a dash of 1940s vintage glamour to give it some louche edge. Everyday staples—like black leather perfectos and checkered dusters—were tossed over sequined evening dresses and hand-pressed silk slips dotted with sparse florals. Dell'Acqua's styling leans just eccentric enough to surprise, but always stays grounded in wearability. Clichés get a gentle shake-up, never a full rejection. 'I encourage a bit of adventurous spirit—intuition, creativity, and a dash of nonchalance,' 'he noted. 'Fashion isn't just for big moments, it doesn't have to be intimidating, either. I want to give women the tools to zhuzh up the everyday.' At a fair price, it's definitely a smart, feel-good move.
