Kerry Katona shares true feelings over Atomic Kitten feud
Kerry Katona has shared her true feelings on the infamous Atomic Kitten 'feud' which has seen her estranged from her bandmates for over two decades.
The singer, 44, who rose to fame in the band back in 1998 and was in the group until 2001, was a forming member of the group alongside Natasha Hamilton and Liz McClarnon and was replaced by Jenny Frost after exiting the band.
Likening the group's dynamics to that of the Spice Girls, after the group failed to reunite at Mel B's wedding this weekend, Kerry explained in her weekly New! Magazine column that she thought it was a 'shame' the likes of Victoria Beckham and Geri Horner weren't in attendance to the nuptials.
She wrote: "I read last week that Victoria Beckham and Geri Horner weren't to be at Mel B's wedding, which is a shame. It would be sad if they weren't going due to a fallout, as the Spice Girls have so much history.
"It's like me and Atomic Kitten – I do wish I was closer to the girls because we had amazing experiences together. But sometimes it is what it is, and I'm sure Mel's wedding day was amazing."
The band's debut album, Right Now, was released in 2000 and reached number one in the UK charts, and the following year Kerry left the group after falling pregnant with her first child and was replaced by Jenny Frost.
The band have had several reunions since, all of which Kerry hasn't been a part of. Kerry has previously recalled how the band used to fight back in the day before she was replaced by Jenny.
She admitted: "I remember some of the fights we had in Atomic Kitten back in the day. Once, Liz punched me from behind after we had a little row. I was furious and got my own back.
"I made her get changed in the toilets at SMTV Live, then I stamped on her feet while we were up on stage singing Whole Again."
However, appearing to let bygones be bygones, Kerry has said multiple times over recent years how she'd 'love' to reconnect with her bandmates and claims to have reached out to them several times.
In 2023, following the death of S Club 7 star Paul Cattermole, Kerry wrote in her column: "When something like this happens, it brings home how I feel about my relationship with the Atomic Kitten girls.
"It's really sad that we don't talk. I've reached out to them so many times. Life is too short."

Kimberly Akimbo review – this Tony-winning musical is a joyous treasure
It's New Jersey at the turn of the century and Kimberly Levaco is approaching her 16th birthday, trying to make her way in a new school in a new town. She navigates the outcast show choir kids (will they be her friends?), the cute boy who loves anagrams (will he become something more?) and her parents, who had her when they were in high school themselves, and still haven't got it together. Kimberly is trying to figure herself out. Who she is, what she wants from her life – and how to handle the fact that she has a genetic condition which causes her to age four times faster than her peers. Kimberly Akimbo, from Jeanine Tesori (music) and David Lindsay-Abaire (book), is a gem of a show about youth and ageing. How do you face being a teenager when you're in the body of a woman in her 60s? How do you hold out hope that things will be better when you leave high school, if that day may never come for you? Kimberly Akimbo is both introspective and an absurdist comedy, built on a loving mosaic of musical influences. It is dark and sad in places – Kimberly (Marina Prior) is let down by every adult in her life, who are unthinking and damaged people. She is let down by her body as she comes up against her life expectancy. But it is also a funny musical filled with joy and heart, silly capers and unrequited love. If occasionally the balance between pathos and vaudeville doesn't quite hold – a complicated cheque washing scheme feels, at times, like it's from another story altogether – there is enough brain at play that you're willing to go along for the ride. Mitchell Butel's new Australian production takes the contrasting ideas the writers are playing with and runs with them, joyfully clashing together disparate ideas and elements. Jonathon Oxlade's set is all dreamy pastels, lit up by Matt Scott's neon lighting design. Their abstract design elements play up against Ailsa Paterson's realistic costuming – which, being the 90s, is itself full of mismatched colours and discording patterns. Butel gives his cast space to really breathe into and sit within the realism of his characters – but then, of course, it is a musical, and the heightened world of song is lifted to be only more absurd by Amy Campbell's intelligent choreography, especially that of the show's geek chorus (the choir). This is Kimberly's show. It is a beautiful part for an actor – the gawkiness, earnestness and first loves of teenagehood, dressed up in a role for an actor in her 60s. Prior slouches around Kimberly's house, melts into the beanbags at the school library and absentmindedly chews on a candy necklace. Her voice is rich and pure and sure, her characterisation intelligent. Prior's performance is never condescending or cynical about teenagers; it is all heart, and she folds neatly into the bright young ensemble. Kimberly is upbeat and strong-willed; and someone who is hurting, beneath it all. Perhaps the trickiest line the show walks is how much Kimberly is let down by the adults in her life. Pattie (Christie Whelan Browne) and Buddy (Nathan O'Keefe) are not good parents to Kimberly; her aunt Debra (Casey Donovan), who implicates Kimberly and her friends in a hare-brained scheme, is not a good aunt. It would be easy for these characters to be built as either completely irredeemable, or else brush over their flaws as mere foibles. But Butel and his cast finds the loving, human balance – letting the actors each have their star turn (especially Whelan Browne, who gives a bewitching and heightened performance that just skirts the line of farce), but never losing sight of their treatment of Kimberly and how, in every way, she deserves better – and is prepared to go out and get it. How do you live when you know it is going to end? This is a question that will come for us all. For her part, Kimberly decides she is going to live life as a great adventure. For the rest of us, this treasure of a musical can be part of our own. Kimberly Akimbo is on at Her Majesty's theatre, Adelaide until 19 July, then Arts Centre Melbourne 26 July–30 August.

Katherine Ryan's 'awful' outfit that 'ruined aesthetic' of Mel B's wedding
The comedian is regretting her choice of outfit for the Spice Girl's wedding last week. Mel B got married last week in a star-studded ceremony in London. But guest Katherine Ryan has since expressed some regrets at her choice of outfit. Mel, 50, married her partner Rory McPhee, 37, at St Paul's Cathedral on Saturday, July 5. Katherine and her husband Bobby Kootstra were among the guests at the all-stars event. Katherine shared on the latest episode of her podcast, Telling Everybody Everything, released yesterday, that she was "so touched" to be invited, particularly as a Spice Girls fan, reports the Mirror. She however told listeners: "I looked like s*** at Mel B's wedding, everybody knows it!" Katherine went on to discuss her outfit, including revealing that she had to get creative when it came to the headpiece that she wore. Katherine, who previously announced that she's pregnant, said that she didn't know how "big" she would be so had decided to get a "flowy" dress. Describing her chosen blue dress, she said: "It almost looks like bed linen. It's very dreamy." The pregnant mother of three said it was "so difficult" to get ready at home with her children around, explaining, "I don't have the thinnest arms for it. I'm too pale for it." She told listeners: "It was awful - no offence to the designer!" She also said: "I put my hair down, which was absolutely the wrong way to do it." Katherine then shared that she had previously shaved the back of her neck because of her "low" hairline, adding: "I can't put my hair up right now because I've chosen to grow this like neck out and it ruined the look." The dress code for the ceremony included hats and fascinators for women, Katherine explained. Adhering to the invitation, she recalled that she had ordered a "beautiful" fascinator ahead of the special occasion last week. But she "panicked last minute" that it wasn't the right shade of blue to match her dress. She told fans that she had to craft a flower into a headline instead, saying: "I ended up chopping an orchid from my kitchen and sticking that in my head." Discussing her look, she said: "It was giving ugly step-sister. Like I truly s*** the bed on the look." Further sharing her thoughts, Katherine teased that she now feels like she "ruined the aesthetic" of the wedding. Katherine said that her husband Bobby, who opted for a cream suit, "didn't like his look" either. She said on the latest episode of her podcast: "I don't think we've ever looked worse ... on like the most important day of someone's life." Whilst talking about the wedding, Katherine shared her surprise over the guestlist. She said: "Everyone there was like a close personal friend, or family member, or Northern. Y'know someone she really knew. [...] It had a real grassroots like true friendship and family vibe. It was a lovely, lovely wedding." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Geri Horner would 'never have gone' to Mel B's wedding and has had week from hell
Geri Horner has had a tough week, according to sources, as her F1 husband has left his role at Red Bull. Geri Horner has had a tough week, and there was reportedly no way she would have made it to her Spice Girls bandmate Mel B's wedding. Neither Mel C, Victoria Beckham or Geri made it to the wedding, which took place on July 5, leaving Emma Bunton the only Spice Girl to show. A source had said: " Victoria loves Mel but sadly she will be out of the country, and wishes she could be there. Mel C too would have been there but she is on tour in Sweden. They have a great deal of affection for Melanie." Mel married her partner Rory in a sparkling wedding attended by a number of celebrities including Alan Carr, Angelica Bell and Katherine Ryan, reported the Mirror. But Geri reportedly 'never would have gone'. This week has brought a lot of stress for Geri, as her F1 husband Christian Horner made a surprise exit from his role at Red Bull. In a lengthy post, Christian wrote: "After an incredible journey of 20 years together, it is with a heavy heart that today I say goodbye to the team I have absolutely loved. "Every one of you, the amazing people at the factory, have been the heart and soul of everything that we have achieved. Win and lose, every step of the way, we have stood by each other as one and I will never forget that. "It's been a privilege being part of and leading this epic team and I am so proud of our collective accomplishments and you all. Thanks to the amazing partners and fans who enabled us to go racing. "Your support has helped grow the team from its humble beginnings to an F1 powerhouse that laid claim to six Constructors Championships and eight Drivers' Championships." A source has revealed how much of a tough week it has been for Geri, with Christian's ex-wife having passed away as well. "It's been a really devastating time for the family and Christian has been in a hole about Beverley," a source told The Mirror of Geri's tough week. "Geri was never going to go to Mel B's wedding, it just wouldn't have been fun for her and Christian to have gone when her and Mel haven't always seen eye to eye. "It's been a week from hell for the family with Beverley's passing and Christian's exit from Red Bull, but Geri is relieved now everyone knows what's been going on behind closed doors, because it's not been easy." A source also previously revealed to us that Geri was unhappy over her husband Christian Horner's decision to leave Red Bull. "Geri is going to stand by her man and is supporting him fully. Image means so much to her, but behind closed doors she isn't happy about the attention this brings," the insider said. "Image means so much to Geri and she knows everyone will relate it back to the leaked messages and what went on last year, so it's not easy for her." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
