Former Chiefs coach Eric Bieniemy berates Bears players during rookie practice

Daily Mail11-05-2025

Bears running backs coach Eric Bieniemy is already making a strong impression in his new role, as recent video shows him ripping his players during the team's rookie camp.
Bieniemy, a two-time Super Bowl winner as the Chiefs' offensive coordinator, re-joined the NFL ranks this winter after one season as UCLA's assistant head coach and offensive coordinator.
And the 55-year-old had some harsh words for Chicago's young running backs on Saturday, as he berated them in a now-viral clip.
As the running backs went through a pass-catching drill with small hurdles at the end, Bienemy yelled at one player to 'pick your f***ing eyes up.'
He then barked at another player after he apparently touched a cone.
'Why are you touching the f***ing cone?,' he asked.

Fans had a wide range of reactions to the moment as they took to X.
'holy s*** did not know EB was back in the league. chicago is so screwed next year,' one wrote.
'This is how he was talking too them kids at UCLA they did not like it haha,' a second added.
However, a third added: 'I love when coaches coach!!!!'
And a fourth said, 'Love it. Exactly what we need.'
The tough-talking coach was linked with several head coaching jobs after playing a role in a prolific Kansas City offense which went on to win two Super Bowls.
However, interviews with the likes of the Commanders, Colts and Falcons did not result in him getting a head coaching job, and he ultimately left the Chiefs following the 2022 season for the same job in Washington.
There, his hard-nosed coaching style drew the ire of some players, with head coach Ron Rivera revealing at one point that players were struggling to adjust to Bieniemy's ways.
He was ultimately let go by the team after Rivera was fired in early 2024.
Notably, Bieniemy called plays in Washington, while that task was performed by head coach Andy Reid in Kansas City.
His Washington offense, led by quarterback Sam Howell (who was a backup last season), finished just 25th in points.
He'll have a young group of running backs to work with in Chicago, led by 26-year-old D'Andre Swift.
The group also includes 2023 fourth-round pick Roschon Johnson and rookie seventh-rounder Kyle Monangai out of Rutgers.
The Bears finished just 25th in rushing yards per game last season, so Bieniemy certainly has his work cut out for him.

Wade Miley captures first win since '23 as Reds top Guardians

June 10 - Jake Fraley socked a solo homer in a three-hit game while Wade Miley earned his first victory in nearly two years as the visiting Cincinnati Reds beat the Cleveland Guardians 7-4 on Monday night. Miley (1-0) worked five innings, allowing three runs on five hits in his second appearance since joining the team on Wednesday following his recovery from Tommy John surgery performed in May 2024. The 38-year-old struck out two and walked four. Miley won for the first time since Sept. 21, 2023, when he and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the St. Louis Cardinals. The left-hander also made longtime Cleveland manager Terry Francona's return with Cincinnati a successful one. Emilio Pagan worked the ninth inning for his 16th save. The Reds won their fourth straight game overall and clinched the season series with in-state rival Cleveland, claiming custody of the Ohio Cup for the first time in 11 years. Cincinnati won all three at home against the Guardians last month. TJ Friedl hit a solo homer in the third inning, then scored on a Christian Encarnacion-Strand sacrifice fly in the fifth that put Cincinnati ahead for good at 4-3. Gavin Lux (sixth-inning single), Will Benson (seventh-inning single) and Connor Joe (ninth-inning double) tacked on RBI hits for the Reds. The Guardians scored three times in the bottom of the third on singles from Angel Martinez, Jose Ramirez and Carlos Santana to go up 3-2, but Fraley tied it in the fourth with his homer to right-center. Fraley finished 3-for-4, raising his average to .218. Guardians right-hander Luis L. Ortiz (3-7) last 4 2/3 innings and gave up four runs on nine hits. He struck out five and walked one while falling to 1-5 in nine starts since April 23. Cleveland has dropped three of four on a six-game homestand that began with a weekend series against the Houston Astros. Ramirez extended his on-base streak to 35 games, and Bo Naylor hit a solo homer off Graham Ashcraft in the seventh inning. --Field Level Media

Green Bay Packers release star man Jaire Alexander weeks after QB Jordan Love made public plea to keep him

The Green Bay Packers are parting ways with Jaire Alexander, despite their quarterback's desperate plea, according to reports. The Packers are releasing the cornerback after an offseason of uncertainty sparked by two injury-plagued seasons for the 28-year-old. The franchise and player had agreed to explore a potential trade earlier in the offseason, according to Ian Rapoport. After failing to clinch a way out of Green Bay before the NFL Draft in April, the two parties reportedly also discussed a restructured contract. However, with neither option emerging, the Packers and Alexander move on with a clean break. Alexander played just seven of the team's 17 regular season games last season amid multiple injury woes. Over the past two years he's managed to suit up for just 16 of of the Packers' 36 games, including the playoffs, while in the last four years he's missed half of the franchise's regular-season games. Yet, despite his multiple stints on the sidelines, quarterback Jordan Love recently insisted that Alexander was essential to the team. 'He's definitely a player we need back,' Love told Kay Adams said when asked about the All-Pro cornerback back in April. 'He's a guy we need around,' he added during his appearance on FanDuel's 'Up & Adams Show'. 'Locker room, he's a character. That's a guy you never know what you're going to get. With Ja, he's always a guy that interacts with everybody on the team. He jokes around but he also has that serious side to him as a competitor.' Alexander, who was selected by the Packers in the first round in 2018, signed a four-year contract extension with Green Bay in 2022 with two years remaining on the $84 million deal. With Alexander owed $17.5million for the upcoming seasons, it proved tough for the Packers to seal a trade, particularly amid his injury woes. When healthy, Alexander is one of the most impactful cornerbacks in the league, having earned Pro Bowl nods twice. He is also a two-time second-team All-Pro in 2020 and 2021. He has 240 tackles, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 12 interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown this past season, and 70 passes defended in his seven-year NFL career.

Record 2.4 million watched Texas win WCWS over Texas Tech

June 10 - It wasn't just Texas celebrating a historic win in the Women's College World Series over the Texas Tech last week. The deciding Game 3 on Friday averaged 2.4 million viewers on ESPN and ESPNU, peaking at 2.7 million, making it the most-watched NCAA softball game ever. In total, the three-game championship series averaged 2.2 million viewers, another record for the WCWS finals. It represents a 13 percent uptick from 2024, when Oklahoma beat Texas in two games to become the first program to win four straight softball national championships. That finals previously set the viewership record, topping the prior mark set in 2015 (Florida over Michigan). On top of it all, ESPN set viewership records for each WCWS game: The first and second games each drew 2.1 million viewers to set Game 1 and Game 2 records of the WCWS championship series. Making its third WCWS finals appearance in four years, Texas beat its in-state rival for the program's first-ever national championship in softball. Teagan Kavan led the way, allowing no earned runs over 31 2/3 innings at the WCWS en route to being named the Most Outstanding Player. --Field Level Media
