Cooper DeJean pays tribute to Super Bowl picks-6 with a custom-made suit for ring ceremony
The Eagles drafted Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean in the first two rounds of last April's NFL draft, and the results were championship worthy. Philadelphia was 2-2 entering the Week 5 bye, but lost one regular-season game after DeJean was inserted into the lineup in place of Avonte Maddox.
The Eagles defeated the Chiefs in Super Bowl 59, and finished the year with both Mitchell and DeJean being finalists for the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year award.
With James Bradberry and Darius Slay departing, DeJean will have an even more critical role in Vic Fangio's defense this season. Philadelphia is securing its championship rings on Friday night, and DeJean wore a custom-made suit highlighting his pick-6 against Patrick Mahomes at the ring ceremony.
DeJean logged 51 tackles (38 solo) as a rookie, including 0.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries across 16 regular-season games in 2024. DeJean's biggest and best moment came in Super Bowl LIX against the Chiefs, when he picked off Mahomes for a 38-yard interception return for a touchdown on his birthday.

PHILADELPHIA — Jose Soriano limited Philadelphia to two runs in seven innings, Taylor Ward had a three-run double and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Phillies 8-2 on Sunday for a series victory. He was really unhappy after the Angels' next hitter, Ward, cleared the bases. The Phillies' Kemp, replacing injured Alec Bohm at third base, committed two errors. That's three errors in six starts at third for Kemp, who has split another 24 games between first base and left field with only one error. The Angels take on the New York Mets in a three-game series beginning Monday night, with Tyler Anderson (2-6, 4.34 ERA) set to oppose the Mets' Kodai Senga (7-3, 1.39). Tyler Smith: Super Bowl is "realistic goal" for Cowboys
With the launch of training camps comes unbridled optimism, for most teams. Cowboys guard Tyler Smith is feeling that optimism about his own team, even if it's been 30 years since Dallas advanced to the NFC Championship. Asked about his team's goals for 2025, Smith said this, via Todd Archer of 'Super Bowl champions. That's always the expectation.' It's the expectation for plenty of the 31 teams that eventually won't make it to the top of the mountain. 'I think it's a realistic goal, yeah,' Smith said. Why is it realistic? 'Because we can win a Super Bowl,' Smith said. 'Why not? Why can't we win? Do you think it's unrealistic?' It's realistic, technically. They are one of the 32 teams that have a chance to do it. Whether they'll be good enough to overcome the elite teams in the NFC and then to outscore the eventual AFC champion is a different issue. 'I think we built a great core on offense; the addition of [receiver] George [Pickens] and all the other key pieces,' Smith said. 'I think drafting [guard Tyler] Booker [in the first round], he's going to be a hell of a guy just to bolster the front line. And we have many guys across the board, but those are some of the guys who are the key pieces on what we do this year.' Smith isn't wrong. But there are many variables, starting with health. A rash of injuries can derail expectations. Even if the Cowboys manage to avoid losing key players for extended stretches, can they compete with the likes of the Eagles, Lions, Buccaneers, 49ers, Rams, Commanders, Vikings, Packers? While the team's three decades of Super Bowl futility are irrelevant to whatever happens this year, it's hard to forget about the forgettable seasons. Hovering over all of it is whether the front office can get linebacker Micah Parsons's contract situation resolved. Even if he shows up on Monday, he likely won't be practicing until a deal is done. And that could be enough to make an early-season win become a loss, with that loss being the difference between winning the division or missing the postseason entirely. They'll have a great opportunity, right out of the gates. They start the season in Philadelphia. Beat the Eagles, and they'll be on their way. Either way, there will still be 16 more games to go. Which will include contests against all teams from the NFC North (which sent three teams to the postseason in 2024) and the AFC West (which did the same). How realistic their chances are in January will depend directly on what they do from September through December. Still, July is the time for seeing the glass as half full. Even if, yet again, it comes up empty.

LeBron trade proposal involves Paul George going to Lakers, Sixers teaming James with Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, ex-Baylor Bear V.J. Edgecombe
The Los Angeles Lakers' latest move, signing Marcus Smart to a two-year, $11 million contract, was one Luka Doncic, not LeBron James, personally signed off on. It's clear that the power has shifted in L.A., and James may not be willing to stick around as a swayless second fiddle. FOX Sports proposed several potential James trades to address the situation. One of them would involve LeBron taking a 'leap of faith' and waiving his no-trade clause to okay a move to the Philadelphia 76ers to play with an oft-injured and aging former MVP big man (Joel Embiid) and a young core (Tyrese Maxey, Jared McCain, VJ Edgecombe). 'James and the 76ers could be a match for a variety of reasons,' FOX Sports' staff wrote. 'For starters, Philadelphia is better than its 24-58 record last season, as the prolonged absences of Joel Embiid and Paul George played an enormous role in that outcome. As a result of their nightmare 2024-25, the 76ers got the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft — assisted by a bump in the NBA Draft Lottery — and selected Baylor standout VJ Edgecombe. They also have 2024 first-rounder Jared McCain returning from a knee injury and could still re-sign restricted free agent Quentin Grimes, who broke out to average a career-high 21.9 points per game in 28 contests after the 76ers acquired him in February. 'Put James with star guard Tyrese Maxey and Philadelphia's compelling young core, and the 76ers should be at least a top-eight seed in an Eastern Conference reeling in injuries (e.g. the Indiana Pacers with Tyrese Haliburton and the Boston Celtics with Jayson Tatum). Plus, if Embiid can return at some point during the season, Philadelphia then has a three-headed scoring monster in Embiid, Maxey and James and is a legitimate threat in the East. This is a franchise built to contend right now. Of course, that potential being realized is heavily reliant on health. 'Philadelphia could base a trade package for James around George and a future unprotected first-round pick (2030). The Lakers get an immediate replacement for James in George and future draft capital for their troubles, while the 76ers shed future payroll and embark on a compelling, short-term experiment. And Philadelphia certainly qualifies as a big market, likely to James' desire. 'All that said, holding out hope for both Embiid being close to 100% for the postseason and Philadelphia's young nucleus making a drastic jump would involve James taking a major leap of faith.' A healthy Embiid may have been enough to entice James to play in the City of Brotherly Love. James as the Magic Johnson to Embiid's Kareem Abdul-Jabar could've made for electric hoops, especially with young shooters and secondary playmakers like Maxey, McCain, and Edgecombe around him. Alas, the Lakers appear set to stick with James. Yahoo Sports' Chris Cwik asserted that the Athletic's report on James planning to go to training camp 'should presumably end rumors suggesting James could leave the franchise ahead of his 23rd season in the NBA.' And yet, that pesky ESPN story and LeBron opting into the remaining year on his contract will always give James trade rumors juice.
