Pirates' Joey Bart (concussion) returns from 7-day injured list
June 17 - Prior to Tuesday's game against the Detroit Tigers, the Pittsburgh Pirates reinstated starting catcher Joey Bart from the 7-day injured list.
Bart has not played since May 27, when he was lifted in the fifth inning with concussion-like symptoms after taking a backswing to his helmet and getting hit by a foul ball against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The 28-year-old catcher, who sat out 17 games, has posted a .240/.347/.308 slash line in 44 games this season. He started the year well, but went 4-for-43 with one double, one RBI and three walks in his last 12 games before going on the IL.
During his five-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis, Bart went 3-for-13 with two RBIs, four walks and one hit-by-pitch.

Reports: Jets sign K Harrison Mevis after UFL stint
June 18 - The New York Jets signed kicker Harrison Mevis, who most recently played for the Birmingham Stallions in the 2025 UFL season, according to ESPN and other reports Tuesday. Mevis, 23, has yet to appear in an NFL game after a successful college career at Missouri. In 2024, he signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent but was waived during training camp. Mevis -- nicknamed "The Thiccer Kicker" for his burly frame -- went 20-for-21 on field goal attempts for Birmingham in the recently completed UFL season. The biggest play of his four-year career at Missouri was a 61-yard game-winning field goal to upset No. 15 Kansas State in 2023. He was a first-team All-American selection in 2021 and went 89-for-106 on field goals and 148-for-149 on extra point attempts in his career. The Jets already have two kickers on their roster ahead of training camp: veteran Anders Carlson and 2025 undrafted free agent Caden Davis. --Field Level Media
