Instagram is keeping the updates rolling for its new Edits video editing app, with all users now getting access to its helpful teleprompter tool, which was spotted in testing last week.
As you can see in this example sequence, the new teleprompter option in Edits enables you to upload your script to an in-stream rolling text display, ensuring your text is presented right below the front-facing camera on your device.
Which could help to make your videos feel more natural, increasing their fluidity in presentation. Rather than having to memorize, or be looking just off to the side, you'll now be able to film yourself presenting direct to camera, with the script presented in the best positioning for addressing the audience.
As you can see in the last frame above, you can adjust the speed at which the words are displayed, as well as the size of the text.
It's a good option, which could be a big help in creating better content. And with research showing that using a human in a video increases engagement, this could be an important consideration for your content.
In addition to the new teleprompter tool, Edits is also getting a new insights display, with your 10 most recent Reels uploads ranked by views, while IG has also added some overlays updates.
But the teleprompter is the main point of note this week.
Instagram has continued to push out updates for Edits, as it looks to make it the key video editing app, and beat out ByteDance's CapCut as the customization tool of choice.
Thus far, Edits has added:
Additional fonts, filters and voice effects
Simplified transition editing
Safe zone and alignment guides
Playback frame rate selector
Beat markers for soundtrack alignment
Enhanced cropping options
Improved tracking sensitivity
Volume level editing
That's in addition to its initial feature set, including multi-channel editing, project management, custom video effects, longer video options, and more.
And it's got even more, likely more impressive features in the pipeline, including AI-generated background editing, still image animation, and collaboration tools.
There's a lot to take in, and it could be worth downloading the app and checking out what you can create with these new tools.
You can download Edits in both the App Store and Google Play Store.

Instagram Notes can now show the Spotify song you're playing
Instagram is making it easier for users to express themselves through music, reels, and posts. In a new blog post on Thursday, Instagram chief Adam Mosseri said the platform is aiming to 'reduce pressure and supercharge creativity' for creators by helping them to share their music tastes and gain confidence with creating content before pushing it to their followers. The first feature rolling out today allows users to automatically share the name and artist of the Spotify song they're currently listening to in their Instagram Notes — the temporary status updates that appear above profile pictures in Instagram DMs. Unlike the Instagram feature that allows users to manually add a song clip that followers can listen to, the new Spotify feature continuously updates the song title in real time to give followers a better idea of the creator's music tastes and mood. It also gives Instagram another location to place an 'add to Spotify' button as part of the partnership that Meta announced last November. Mosseri said the platform is also working on new features that aim to help users manage the 'excitement and nervousness that come with putting something out into the world.' The reels experiment that allowed some creators to test their videos on new audiences before sharing them with followers is now available to everyone. Mosseri said that 40 percent of creators who tested the feature started posting reels more frequently, encouraging Instagram users to explore their creativity without the pressure of sharing bad reel ideas with their friends and fans. Instagram is also working on a feature that will enable users to post directly to their Instagram profiles without pushing it to their followers' feeds, as well as one that will allow them to rearrange the order in which posts appear on profile grids. Mosseri already teased these capabilities in January, but it's unclear when they will be available to the public.

A grid feature Instagram users have 'been begging for' is coming soon Show Caption Hide Caption Meta launches teen Instagram with new controls Meta is launching Instagram teen accounts to filter social media feeds for younger users. Cheddar A long-awaited Instagram update, which allows users to reorganize their profile grid, is coming this summer. In the coming weeks, all Instagram users will be able to rearrange the photos and videos on their profiles, an update that has already been in beta testing for some users this year. "Instagram just fixed the one thing we've all been begging for," Torro Media Lead Digital Content Strategist Chloe Newell said in a TikTok video. "No more deleting and reposting just to get the vibe right. You want to put your best content on the top? Go for it. Trying to hide that one post but you still want it live? Hide it at the bottom. This update is for overthinkers, aesthetic lovers and brands that love to plan out every single pixel." Here's what to know about the new update. Instagram news: At antitrust trial, Meta's Zuckerberg admits he bought Instagram because it was 'better' When will the Instagram update be available? The new update will be available to all Instagram users the week of June 16, Meta confirmed to USA TODAY. How do you rearrange your Instagram grid? Meta outlined the process for how to rearrange a profile grid, once the update is available: Press and hold a post on a profile grid or select "Edit Grid" under the Edit Profile screen. Drag and drop posts anywhere on the profile grid. Changes will be saved automatically, but an "undo" button will be available per each "Edit Grid" session. Users will only be able to rearrange their main profile grids, no other subtabs. Additionally, pinned posts can be not rearranged into a different order, according to Meta. Users will not be limited to how many times they can rearrange their profile grids. Will the Instagram update be available on mobile and desktop? Initially, the update will only be available on the mobile Instagram app, Meta said. Other new updates coming to Instagram soon The ability to rearrange profile grids isn't the only new feature coming to the social media app. Starting on June 12, users can unlock a limited-time effect on Instagram Notes when listening to any Tyler, the Creator songs on Spotify. The Notes song effect will appear dark green, in comparison to the traditional gray effect. Instagram Trial Reels are available to all users, allowing users to share a Reel with a group of non-followers before everyone else. Starting on June 20, a new font in Spanish musician Rosalía's handwriting will be available to use on Instagram Stories and Reels. Greta Cross is a national trending reporter at USA TODAY.
