Outlander star auditioned for not one but two other roles before landing iconic Blood of My Blood part
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Outlander Blood of My Blood.
A Blood of My Blood star has revealed that she originally auditioned for a key role in Outlander before landing her part in the prequel.
Actress Hermione Corfield has landed the role of Julia Moriston, Claire Fraser's (played by Caitriona Balfe) mum in the newly released Outlander prequel Blood of My Blood.
The MGM+ romantic drama delves into Julia's own love story with Claire's dad Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine) as they fall head over heels during the First World War.
Of course, it wouldn't be Outlander without the mystical element of time travel which tears the loved-up couple apart, flinging their story into 18th Century Scotland.
But Corfield revealed during a Q&A at the Blood of My Blood screening that she had previously auditioned for two other roles in the Outlander universe.
She shared: 'It does feel like a full circle moment I think.
'My audition was six, seven, maybe even eight years ago. I read for Brianna [Fraser].
'I was going to screen test for it and then had it clash with something else so it's kind of wild.'
Brianna, who is played by actress Sophie Skelton, is Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser's daughter which, in turn, means that Corfield now plays her grandmother.
But this wasn't the only part that Corfield tried to get prior to playing Julia, adding: 'I also read for Ellen originally on this which is also crazy.'
'So Jamie [Roy] and I did a screen test which is good because we probably have more scenes together than Jeremy [Irvine] and I do so it's all worked out quite well really.'
Brian Fraser star Jamie Roy also auditioned for another role in Outlander but it wasn't exactly for a big role.
He remarked: 'It does feel very poetic, because I auditioned once for Militia Man number one, a dear place in my heart, which was literally one line.
'And then after that, I auditioned for a slightly bigger role in season seven, didn't hear back from that but then got the audition for Brian and it all worked out with considerably more lines than Militia Man number one so I'm very, very thankful.'

Outlander Blood of My Blood's Jamie Roy makes surprising Sam Heughan admission
Outlander Blood of My Blood delves into the love lives of Jamie and Claire Fraser's parents. Blood of My Blood actor Jamie Roy has candidly talked about his surprise when he first met Outlander legend Sam Heughan. Blood of My Blood is now releasing new episodes every Saturday on MGM+, following the remarkable love stories of Jamie Fraser's (played by Sam Heughan) parents Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater, and Claire Fraser's (Caitriona Balfe) mum and dad Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine) and Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield). To mark its eagerly anticipated debut, the leading cast gathered for its official London screening, followed by a Q&A where Roy spoke of what surprised him about Heughan. 'From the get-go, we had a phone call which was great, 20 minutes before we started shooting and we just talked about some stuff and he was so excited about it," Roy explained. 'And then we met for a coffee about halfway through shooting and up until this point, so many people had said to me 'Oh you and Sam are so alike' and I'm like 'yeah, yeah, whatever, heard it.' 'And then I met him, and we sat across from each other and there was a point in the conversation where we were both stopped talking and looked at each other kind of like 'What the f***? We're exactly the same.'' Their bond quickly proved to go far beyond their work in the Outlander universe though. He shared: 'We talked about work for like five minutes and just started talking about Scottish things like mountains and whiskey and mountains. 'His support throughout this whole thing has been amazing. He came out to the premiere which was so lovely to see.' 'And he had never seen any of the episodes before, so him seeing that for the first time with the fans is something he said he wanted. To watch it with the fans as a fan, I thought was just a class act. 'We are very happy to have him in our corner.' There has been no confirmation so far on whether or not either Heughan or Balfe are going to feature in Blood of My Blood at some point. The prequel has already been green lit for a second season though and given that an important element of the show is time travel, this could provide the opportunity for the original stars to make an appearance at some point.

Outlander's Sam Heughan urges fans to 'be careful' and warns of scammers
The Jamie Fraser star shared the message on social media Outlander actor Sam Heughan has posted on social media, warning fans about scammers, after previously posting people about impersonating him earlier this year and one woman losing £10,000 after a fraudster pretended to be him. The 45-year-old star of the Starz series and The Couple Next Door took to his Instagram Stories to share the message. He wrote: 'Please be careful on social media! Myself (Or manager/agent/family etc) will NEVER reach out Asking [sic] for money or contact.' The Jamie Fraser star concluded: 'If it's not verified, it's not me. Be careful of scammers!' Heughan spoke out in February this year, asking his followers to exercise caution and care online with people pretending to be him. He also issued a plea back in 2024 about scammers, suggesting they are still posing a threat to his fans. The star's words come after he walked the red carpet at the Outlander: Blood of My Blood LA premiere with the rest of the cast and crew. The actor can next be seen this autumn treading the boards in the Royal Shakespeare Company's latest production of Macbeth opposite The Crown's Lia Williams as Lady Macbeth. The star also lends his voice to the factual film Clinging By A Claw, which raises the plight of the endangered Scottish wildcats and the hopes of conservationists to increase the species' numbers. Those waiting for Outlander's eighth and final season still have some time to go after Starz confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con that the last outing would be hitting screens in early 2026. Before then, fans of the Outlander universe can get their teeth stuck into Blood of My Blood, which started premiering recently and follows Jamie and Claire Fraser's (played by Caitríona Balfe) parents. The prequel drama series uses the Outlander novels by Diana Gabaldon as a jumping-off point, before breaking new ground with an original story. The show imagines what if Claire's parents Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine) and Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) hadn't died in a car accident, but travelled through time. Moreover, the couple interact with Jamie's parents Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy), and are integral to the forbidden, inter-clan romance blossoming. Heughan has shown his support for the prequel and even posted a trailer for Blood of My Blood on his Instagram account. He captioned the video: 'So proud of our @outlander_starz family! 'What a journey it has been and delighted to welcome the extremely talented @bloodofmybloodstarz cast to our world. 'The first two cracking episodes of 'Blood of my Blood' are airing now on @starz Can't wait to see more! X.' Outlander season 8 will air on Starz and MGM+ via Prime Video in early 2026

Outlander Blood of My Blood fans issue same complaint just three episodes in
Outlander: Blood of My Blood sees episodes released weekly *Warning: may contain spoilers for Outlander: Blood of My Blood* Outlander: Blood of My Blood fans have issued the same complaint just three episodes in the brand new show. Outlander fans are all eagerly awaiting the eighth and final season which is set to be released next year, concluding author Diana Gabaldon's impressive 11-year run. But fans are now tuning into the prequel, Outlander: Blood of My Blood with episodes dropping on MGM+ on Prime Video weekly. Outlander fans are finally able to stream the prequel to the popular show which explores the relationship of Jamie Fraser's parents, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie. Having premiered on August 9, Outlander: Blood of My Blood ventures into unexplored territory as it's not based on any book. But with the third episode being released on Saturday, August 16, fans have all been issuing the same complaint. Prime Video writes about the episode: "Ellen hatches a new plan to protect herself and her family. Julia is forced to make an impossible choice." However, taking to Reddit, some fans have been unimpressed so far, as they ask for more Brian and Ellen screen time. One person said: " Why are Brian & Ellen not having any interactions anymore? I loved the idea of them at first but I thought we'd see them sneaking off to meet each other. Their relationship just isn't developing at all." Another wrote: "I crave more Brian and Ellen. The one plotline I'm worried about is the Murtagh-Brian relationship that will inevitably suffer when Murtagh will find out about Brian and Ellen. I'm curious how the whole thing will play out. We know that in the end, Brian and Murtagh still remained close, but the strain on their relationship will surely show at some point." A third added: "Brian & Ellen went from 0-100 aye?! I'm agreeing now that a more gradual buildup might a been nice. Andddd it was a dream." A fourth commented: "Then we move on to Ellen and Brian. Except there is no Ellen and Brian", adding: "My question is, what passed between them during the bridge scene? "They made to believe she stayed for a long time, or was it that the road just took all her time? Did they hand-fast and lay together? Or only exchanged those words? I am so confused and upset that we don't have any development on this." Another penned: "The pacing has been somewhat off since episode one, and I entirely dislike the Brian and Ellen situation as they have next to no screen time and I feel like I'm being kept out of the loop. I was actually angry that the first kiss we saw from them was a dream sequence." However, some fans have praised the series so far as they are already coming up with potential theories for the remainder of the series as well as Outlander season eight. One person said: "I LOVED this episode. It was amazing. And that last scene when Julia opening the door of a clearly decorated room my heart sank because I knew what was coming. "I'm more convinced than ever now that that baby's story will tie into season 8 somehow." Another agreed: "Of course it will. It's the only thing that will make sense. Faith clearly didn't survive and Julia's child will know the Seaside song and pass it down to his/her own children/grandchildren."
