Why is Netflix breaking tradition and releasing Stranger Things 5 finale in three parts? Know here

Mint2 days ago

Netflix is giving the final season of Stranger Things a blockbuster send-off — by releasing it in three parts across the biggest holiday dates of the year.
The fifth and final season will arrive in three stages.
Stranger Things season finale will release in three parts: Volume One on November 26, Volume Two on Christmas Day, and Volume Three, featuring the finale, on New Year's Eve. All episodes will drop at 5:00 p.m. PST on their release days.
The move marks a departure from Netflix's usual all-at-once release style, but the reasons are strategic. Thanksgiving weekend, Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve are among the most-watched days for film and TV. By using these high-traffic dates, Netflix aims to maximise viewership, extend subscriber engagement across two months, and dominate the holiday conversation.
This staggered rollout also ensures ongoing fan discussion and anticipation, building momentum toward the finale. With each part coming during a different festive week, Netflix is setting the stage for Stranger Things 5 to become more than just a series ending — it's aiming for a cultural moment.
As mentioned in the official synopsis, the official story picks up in autumn 1987. Hawkins is under military lockdown, Vecna has vanished, and Eleven (played by Milly Bobby Brown) is forced into hiding. As the town faces growing danger and a familiar darkness returns, the group must come together for one final battle to save their world.

By turning its most popular show into a three-part event, Netflix is betting big on Stranger Things ending not just with a bang — but as the biggest television release of the year.

Javed Akhtar says daughter Zoya is a tougher taskmaster than son Farhan Akhtar: ‘Dono alag tarah ke films banate hain'

Lyricist Javed Akhtar is one of the most prolific writers in the industry and has worked with several directors in the course of his decades-long career in Bollywood. In an interview with The Lallantop, Javed was asked about the experience of working with his children, Zoya Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar, on their respective films. Javed candidly shared how it is never easy when it is with them. (Also read: Kangana Ranaut gave written apology, asked Javed Akhtar in court: 'Aap meri agli picture mein gaane likhenge?') During the interaction, when Javed was asked about which one of the two is a tougher taskmaster, he said, 'Dusro ke liye kaam karna asaan hain apne bachho ke liye bada mushkil hain. Unko aisa nahi hai ki hamara baap hain toh hum kuch kahe nahin. Humein toh kuch kehna hi hain. Zoya tough taskmaster hai (It is easier to work with others than with my own children. They will not spare me just because I am their father. They will say something. Zoya is the tough taskmaster).' He went on to add how their films are so different from one another. 'Dono hoshiyaar hain aur dono alag-alag tarah ke film banate hain. Common nahi hain. Ab jis tarah ki film Farhan banate hain Zoya nahi bana sakti. Jis tarah ki Zoya banayi hain Farhan nahi bana sakta. Unka definitely alag-alag school hain. Both of them are doing well (The two of them know their work and make different films. They are not common. The kind of films Farhan makes cannot be made by Zoya and vice versa. They definitely come from different schools).' Farhan is all set to make Don 3 with Ranveer Singh. Meanwhile, Zoya co-produced the feature film Superboys of Malegaon and the docu-series Angry Young Men, which was based on Salim-Javed. Her last directorial venture was Netflix's The Archies.

Diddy trial: 3 new celebrity names come up as ex-assistant Mia makes damning revelations

Three new celebrity names have come up during Sean 'Diddy' Combs' federal sex-trafficking and racketeering trial. The names came up during the testimony of Diddy's ex-assistant Mia, who worked for the rapper from 2009 to 2017. Mia's text messages about A-listers were shown to jurors. Mia, who testified anonymously under the pseudonym, texted the Bad Boy Records founder on March 8, 2019, asking him to watch the Netflix show 'Love' by director Judd Apatow, the New York Post reported. In another text Mia sent Diddy on May 14, 2020, she spoke about the death of record executive and media mogul Andre Harrell, the man who is often credited with discovering the 'I'll Be Missing You' rapper. 'Puff my heart is broken about Dre. I've spent all week crying for you as well," Mia texted Diddy. Mia later also texted Diddy about actor Chad Boseman's death. Diddy replied, "How are you? Yeah, life is crazy." Mia shared various other details about Diddy during the trial. At one point, she said that Diddy placed a tracking device on his on-and-off girlfriend Cassie Ventura's car. "He's stolen my phone many times, he's stolen Cassie's phone many times," Mia told the jury. "He's put tracking devices on her car. I'm not sure what he's capable of. I was terrified.' Mia told the jury that Diddy allegedly sexually assaulted her multiple times. Diddy's defense attorney Brian Steel pressed Mia about why she did not accuse the rapper of sexual assault during settlement talks in 2017 for unpaid wages. Mia claimed that she originally asked for $10 million for bonuses, severance and overtime that Diddy allegedly owed her, and never paid. However, she settled during mediation for $400,000 – an amount that was split with her attorneys in 2017. Mia further claimed that she did not know that sexual assault could be used in settlement negotiations, adding that it was in 2024 that she discussed the sex assault claims with prosecutors for the first time.
